About Black Cat
Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.
Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.
Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Black Cat Ratings and Reviews
Loved it! Delicious food from the chef's own farm. All picked that morning. The tasting menu was the way to go. The wine pairings were a blast. Perfectly paired with the food. It was like the sommelier took us on a tour of his favorite hidden wineries with him. So fun!
I know you may not believe all the stars for this review but it's accurate. You have to go try the wonderful fresh food and variety that Eric the owner and his team provides to delight your palette. They change the menu constantly so it's always fresh. The service is wonderful.
Let me suggest you try the chef tasting. OMG!!! Amazing presentation of color, texture, and flavors. You won't be disappointed. We will be back with friends.😎
Wow, Wow, Wow! My husband had his birthday dinner at Black Cat last night. We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu with paired wines. We were blown away with seven courses of exquisite
cuisine. Each course was delicious and uniquely prepared using ingredients from their organic garden. Delightful in every way. The owner Eric came over introduced himself and spent a total of thirty minutes in three separate visits conversing and answering my husbands questions about gardening techniques. The personal service and attention is first class. This was one of the ten best dinners of all time for us. Bravo! We will be back again. Thank you for a stellar dining experience.
Exceptional! We did the chef's choice with wine pairings. Just an amazing experience. Servers were knowledgeable of every meal and every drink that was served. The chef, who also is the farmer where most of the food comes from, has developed a special place on the foot of the mountains. His team looks to make your experience one if a kind, and develop an ambiance that will keep you coming back for more. The wine accentuated each and every dish that was served, and would recommend including it with your meal. The food is right from the farm, and literally picked that day. Would definitely recommend.
This was one of the top 10 meals of my life. We went with the chef's choice with wine pairings so you don't know what you're getting until it comes. Everything was superb and creative. Wine pairings came with informative and fun back stories. I could not recommend this more highly. Not cheap but worth every penny.
This was such a treat! September is a great time to go because of all the produce in season right now. We did the tasting menu and it was so fun to try different bites that we would normally have. The service was top notch - wine service was great and we met Eric, the head chef/owner/farmer and he was gracious and made us feel welcome. This is how farm-to-table is meant to be.
The meal and service were absolutely superb!! The owner/chef came to our table several times. The servers were top notch! The food was incredible, as was the amazing wine pairings. I have dined here numerous times. Each time it improves from an already excellent experience.
The four of us had a wonderful evening... We eat out (dine) several times a week. There was nothing more one could ask for from a restaurant (except maybe a live piano player). This was our 5th visit to this restaurant, and the experience is consistently top notch. Beware, this kind of excellence comes at a cost. Each time we have dined here, we have walked out paying $170 to $190 per person.
The meal was fantastic as always and as always, Eric (owner and head chef) spent time with every table in the restaurant talking about the dish that was sent out for that course and would answer any questions.
This is easily the best spot in the Denver Metro and if was located in another city, would have a Michelin Star.
Every trip to Black Cat is magical, and this dinner was no exception. There are three levels of great restaurants: first, they must be technically excellent (food, service, etc.); second, they must also have a staff that makes you feel special throughout your visit; and third (and most special), they should offer an experience that you can't get elsewhere. Around the world, I've only experienced a handful of restaurants that do this, but Black Cat not only accomplishes all three, but does so consistently, even when, as was the case this evening, Chef Eric and Jill are out of town. If you are visiting Boulder, you must make this part of your itinerary. (If you live here, be ready to become addicted.)
The blind tasting menu was absolutely incredible. Everything is sourced from the 150 acre farm the owner's own and the meal is based on what looks good that day. This was easily the best meal I have had in Boulder and among the top 3 I have had in Colorado. The chef came and visited patrons after the meal to ensure everything was to their liking and to interact. I have already recommended Black Cat to many friends and will undoubtedly be back for their future menus.
What a great experience! Eric and Jill, and the entire staff delivered a top notch experience for us. We did the chef's Tasting menu and it didn't disappoint. Every course, including the 7th surprise course were excellent. The wine pairing were also well selected, delivering balance in the wines selected and great complements to each meal. We particularly like the Champagne - something I find difficult to match to my palate, but in this case, it was a true winner. I don't know when my travels will take me to Boulder again, but a stop at the Black Cat will definitely be on our itinerary.
We had a wonderful meal and experience! Black Cat has such a cozy vibe with the down to earth feel. Each employee is very sweet and knowledgeable about the entire menu! We got to talk with the chef about his farm and family, so personable. The wine pairing is a must!! This was by far our favorite dining experience in our 33 years!
