About Black Cat
Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.
Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.
Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Black Cat Ratings and Reviews
Black Cat is one of the most comfortable spots in town, with its loveseats and sheepskin backed chairs, great acoustics for a quiet evening full of conversation and excellent food and wine. There is a small, well-balanced menu with tasting menu options, an inspired wine list, knowledgeable servers, pleasant and discreet service — the whole place feels expertly run, by people who genuinely care about what they're doing. This is a great place for a celebration, a romantic night out, or a quiet little no fuss dinner. Bravo!
First timer with 4 others as well. What a perfect find in Boulder!!! Top ratings in every way. My new found place for important client engagements. Besides the food fare being as good as it gets, the staff who deliver the experience are of the highest quality and integrity. From their welcome to best wishes, you’ll enjoy this place over and over. You can tell why by the many locals who express the same. Well done BC!!! Thank you.
Truly one of the finest dining experiences I have had to date! The food was incredible - from first to last bite (the chocolate mouse cake is to drool over), I cannot emphasis this enough. The staff was friendly, attentive and skilled in service at every step of the meal. The setting was cozy yet had a chic feel, perfect for a date, or a meal to remember. I was blown away by the "family" vibe - everyone seemed to enjoy being there, working together to create a very unique dining experience. I must also mention that the restaurant TRULY embodies some of the best values that one could hope for when searching for a "good" place to eat. Local. Organic. IN HOUSE FARM TO TABLE*. This was my first time going (and my dates 3rd) and it will not be the last. Please enjoy!
This is the third time we had the privilege of having the taster menu with premium wine pairings. The food was exceptional and the wine pairings were fun and delicious. The staff was great, and handled my wife's nut allergy with no problems. It was quiet, romantic and delicious. We hope to see you soon.
Have been dining at Black Cat over the last few years for special occasions. Every visit has been great and this last time was one of the best dining experiences I've had. The service was attentive as always, the timing of the courses wasn't rushed, the food picked fresh from their farm, each course selection was superbly done and expertly paired with the wine selections. In addition, receiving the entree descriptions from Eric (chef/owner) is always a special touch that I've only experienced in one other location. This was the best experience to date at this establishment. Black Cat has never disappointed.
Black Cat was the perfect venue for my wife's birthday. Being a foodie, its hard to find interesting cuisine to get my wife excited. The tasting menu and wine pairing was the perfect call and really made my wife happy, which in turn made me happy. I would fully recommend give Chef Eric and his staff of well trained chefs a try.
We decided to go for the tasting menu and put everything in the hands of the chef and our server. One member of our party is vegetarian and I have celiac. They nailed it! The last time I felt so pampered was at the French Laundry. This is truly a gem....worth the trip and we will be back!
It was our first time there. We will definitely go again for special occasions. Excellent food, friendly helpful staff and very comfortable atmosphere. My wife said her entrée was the best she has ever had and we have an apartment in NYC where we eat our often.
A dining experience to remember!
My date and I dined at Black Cat last week . Although both of us had had drinks at the bar on previous occasions, it was our first time sitting for dinner. Upon recommendation from our waiter, we went with the chef's course selection and wine pairing, which proved to me an excellent choice! Following, we were entertained by six expertly prepared courses that showcased the chef's \passion for farm-to-table/local ingredients, accompanied by Lucas' select wine pairings that masterfully celebrated the union of food and libation. Together, the experience was a complete TKO!
The crew at Black Cat are incredibly passionate about sharing their art with the world. If you have a chance to indulge in a night, this place is not to be missed!
Our first time at black cat although we've been to bramble and hare several times. One of the best meals we've ever had and the entire staff was incredible. The dishes were creative yet classic, the only problem was not being able to fit even more in my belly. You can always count on Eric and his crew to serve up an experience you'll never forget.
The Tasting Menu, including the wines, was excellent. Each course was well-paired with a compatible wine, and delivered at the right intervals. Staff members were friendly and competent. Our meal was expensive, but for the occasion, worth the expenditure. Seating and privacy are not optimum, and to some might be a drawback. For us, it was not a problem.
Overall, a good experience, but a bit beyond our budget for dining other than on special occasions.
I ordered the 6-course tasting menu of the day and I was impressed with every course as the taste and presentation were superb. The fish and beef were done right.
The service was great and attentive. Both my wife and I really enjoyed the dinner and experience.
Delicious, beautifully presented food served by knowledgeable, friendly staff in a elegant, cozy, and warm setting. The food ethics are spot on here, with all of the ingredients sustainably sourced, many from the restaurant's own farm. I had dinner here with friends recently in the "cave room" and with my mom at a table overlooking the kitchen - both meals were fantastic.
My wife and I had the chef's choice with wine pairing. 7 blind (and outstanding) selections paired with unique wines at each course. And each pairing explained by Logan, the master somm. The dining room is small and intimate, with a great view of much of the prep and staff activity. It was really the best culinary experience we've had.
