Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.

Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.

Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Amazing Restsurant. Incredible food. Service from Sara was exemplary. Drew, as simmallier, was super knowledgeable. First time here and plan to return every trip to Boulder.

Loved the Black Cat! The service was amazing- they were very enthusiastic in their descriptions of the dishes and the wine. We enjoyed the tasting menu and could not have been happier. Everything was fresh and farm to table. If you are in Boulder - it is a must try.

This is simply the best restaurant in Boulder and the Front Range. The service is consistently excellent and the food is always fresh, delicious and inventively prepared.

This was not my first time there. For years I have been going back to this place because it is first rate in every way. My fiancé and I went there for my birthday. Asked to be reseated to a quiet corner and the host was most obliging. 1/2 a glass of complimentary sparkling wine started us off....Of all the charcuterie boards I've ever had, this was THE BEST. All from their farm except the figs and olives; so varied, large, delicious and well put together. I ordered the lamb shank which was done to perfection with vegetables from their farm seasoned with a coconut curry sauce...Very tasty. I am gluten free and they provided some nice substitutes. He had the duo of bison and very much enjoyed it. The creme brûlée plus pistachio shortbread for desert was served on a plate with "happy birthday "written in dark chocolate plus a candle. A beautiful touch and the desert was not overly sweet, which we appreciated.

While everything tasted absolutely fantastic- the cocktails, salads, bread, entrees, everything!- I wish we could have done the chef’s tasting menu but it is a minimum of 2 1/2 hours! When the restaurant does not open till 5:30 this makes most other evening activities impossible, like tickets to the opera at 7:30.

Eric and his team provide a wonderful first class dining experience. Though Eric was not working his team provided a delicious multi course chefs tasting and the premium wine pairing was enjoyable and unique. This time switching out red and whites throughout the courses rather than the standard path of white then reds... Fresh produce and lamb from his farm made the special celebration of friends 50th and great food!

My gf and I had a wonderful experience ..,we had a private booth, tried the tasting menu, and the staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We will be coming back when we visit Boulder again!!

This is such a treat for us! We come down from Fort Collins for special occasions and love to go to the Black Cat! Such amazing ambiance, service, and the food is fresh delicious and beautifully plated. The wine list is extensive and cocktails are superb. We love the Black Cat!

Black Cat has its pretentious aspects ("We are the biggest Farm to Table operation in the country"), but the atmosphere is intimate and perfect, and the food exquisite. Service, beyond the opening spiel, is warm and attentive and real. This is my new favorite in Boulder, now that The Kitchen has, I have to say, jumped the sharks.

It is a nice quiet place but extremely high-priced, very limited menu, and Very difficult to park. All these things combined – I wouldn’t go back.

My husband and I tried Black Cat recently and had an amazing time. We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu, and from start to finish it was outstanding. Small plates, but I think we had 7 courses in all, so it was more than filling. Also, they told us that they could make us extra plates if we still felt hungry. It's a quiet, intimate place that encourages you to stay for a while and enjoy your dishes slowly, which is really a nice change from feeling you have to be in and out to help turn tables. The service was warm and impeccable, and the chef even came by to say hi. Just a real gem of a restaurant -- a lot of love seems to go into it. Would love to come back soon.

Everything was perfect. Service great, beginning with the hostess to the sommelier.
The sampling dinner with wine pairing was a fantastic experience! Will go back when visiting Boulder.

Food was excellent. One of the nicer farm-to-table joints in town. It certainly falls on the pricier end, which is both an asset and a liability. Food is reasonable. Drinks are overpriced, IMHO. Partly due to the prices, it's not particularly crowded most nights, which makes for a romantic place to sit and chat. If it is crowded, service can be slow, as I they may be understaffed in these cases. Our service just recently was excellent. All of our servers were attentive. The food strikes a nice balance between salty and buttery, so has a somewhat French feel, but also seemingly very fresh.

The Black Cat is at the top of the favorite list. This last visit was a treat and not sure how they did it, but it was a step above the last visit. Book a reservation so you can experience their superb food and service for yourself.

We had an absolutely delicious meal and drinks. The menu was creative and it was hard to choose between the options, but everything we had was delicious, from the special whiskey drink, the gratuitous mini appetizers and cookies to our soup, salad, and entrees. The winter salad and beet crepes were especial highlights. The wait staff was attentive but unobtrusive and we enjoyed two short conversations with owner Eric Skokan.

My husband and I came here for our 5 year anniversary. We ordered two of the chefs choices and I ordered a wine pairing with the 7 course meal. The food was sub par, at best. I felt like they were trying to hard to create something “fancy” instead of focusing on flavors. Also there was one of the 7 courses I couldn’t bring myself to eat, and the wait staff and the chef all came over one by one asking why I didn’t like it. It was humiliating. And then after my 5th wine pairing the waitress came over and told my husband “she doesn’t have to drink all the wine” very condescending! Why have a 7 course wine pairing if I’m not supposed to drink the wine that is paired with my meal?! After paying a whopping $300 for our meal, we left dissatisfied and disappointed and went to grab something to eat somewhere else.
