We have been patrons for many many years and have NEVER had a negative experience. The food, service and total experience has ALWAYS been first rate.
Stayed at Black Bass Inn for our anniversary. Enjoyed ourselves wonderfully. Quaint, cozy, friendly, lovely fireplace, authentic, a must stay.
came there to celebrate husbands 70th birthday.Ambiece great-service great-But my filet was overcooked. asked for med and no pink at all. the one piece was not trimmed correctly . Taste was good. One piece great-one not. eggs were on same plate so had sauce under it .Dessert was delicious.Being retired and on limited income-to spend 80.00 for breakfast was ok if all would have been good. I still would recommend to people. One bad item happens somtimes.
Not as good as usual. The lobster and seafood risotto was disappointing. We were presented with the seafood on one side of the plate and a tasteless glob of separately cooked risotto on the side....there was no infusion of flavor in the risotto and no lobster reduction was used in its preparation.
Rather annoyed because we telephoned two weeks in advance for a window table and told the restaurant was full booked. Went on OpenTable the day before and almost every time slot was open. Despite it being my birthday and that we are regulars, they would not give us a window table.
We went to Black Bass to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. He ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the lobster risotto, and a "basshattan" drink. I ordered the fillet. Our waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. My boyfriend felt the risotto on its own was not all that flavorful, but when he mixed everything on his plate together it was good. He concluded that it was good, but not as good as he had hoped for the price. We have had similar dishes at other restaurants that were not nearly as expensive and may have had more flavor. My fillet and the side of mashed potatoes were tasty. The nicest thing about this place is the atmosphere. The historic building on the river with large windows looking out is really beautiful.
First time we have been there and are already planning when we can return!
The appetizers were fantastic, but the size of the entrees were a joke. I ordered the crab cake and it was for a child. The rice portion was larger than the crab cake. My husband order the crab imperial and the portion had too much sauce and not enough crab. For what you were charging, you should know that the protein portion was inadequate. My husband and I eat out a lot and we have not experienced that such small portions and imbalance. Also, my husband ordered a second glass of iced tea and we were charged for the second glass. Again, for what you are charging, it is ungracious for you to hit him up twice for something that was probably in a pitcher.
Our experience was a mixed bag. Food was good, but the inconsistency was disturbing. I am not rushing back!
Beautiful view, welcoming staff, food is consistently good. This is a great place for lunch or dinner with a nice wine list......
A wonderful setting for a romantic Valentine’s evening. Candlelit setting, helpful staff and delicious food.
Was not given the table we were promised. When we questioned why we were bluntly lied to. 20 yrs we have patronized them and sadly tonight was our last.
We went for a very enjoyable Valentines Day lunch. The food and cocktails were very good. The staff was friendly, efficient and in the background allowing us to enjoy the food and each others company.
The meal was followed by a leisurely walk across the Delaware on the Bull Island pedestrian bridge. The perfect end to a perfect afternoon.
A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
This has been in my top three restaurants for several years. Never disappoints - ever!
Sunday brunch is a real treat! THe food is amazing and the view spectacular- even on a rainy day!
Always great view great service great food! Our favorite go to sunday brunch spot.
Its a lovely setting beside the River. The staff was friendly and helpfull. The food was presented well and was delicious.
Black Bass has always been a great location for special event. The great food and historic inn brings a unique experience to an evening out.
We love it here!!
Second best short ribs I've had in my life (I'm 76)...A wonderful well-appointed historic spot which does NOT sport a large-screen television blaring soccer games. Beautiful people, beautiful scenery inside and out (the towpath runs right by the windows. A memorable night. Jeff Inskeep-Fox
second visit, even better than first, which was outstanding. helpful staff, excellent food, great building and view. there just isn't a down side, the only thing that is even the slightest bit of issue, is the pricing is maybe a touch above comparable locations, but definitely not a deal breaker. there is really no complaint from our visits, and we will certainly return, and have referred to friends many times.
I have been there several times and I love the atmosphere and the food. I travel from central NJ
about 2 hours away. My husband and I love The Black Bass Hotel. Its a great experience!
The food and service are outstanding! One of our favorite places for a special occasion, dinner with friends, or date night!
We have been here several times and it is usually good but this last time was very disappointing. I got the lobster special for 52$. There was barely any lobster in it and it was overcooked and chewy. We sent it back and they did take it off the bill.
The beef filet is superior - excellent flavor and texture-- and is cooked medium rare as ordered. The fish special (barramundi/Asian sea bass) had to be returned to the kitchen for heating up (weather was very cold this weekend) but after that proved to be splendid. The arugula salad - unbelievable!!! Place is pricey, but the food is worth it, esp. for special occasions. The tap beer menu is a bit dull for my more adventurous tastes, but the glass that our Yards IPA came in was beautiful and well-poured. Service excellent. Bar is very cozy, but best views are in the dining room.
Wonderful location on the Delaware River. Historic inn and restaurant with pub like atmosphere in the bar. Food and service were excellent for a Sunday Brunch. Main dining room had ample “window “ seating with great river and footbridge views.
The Black Bass is a favorite of ours, especially for important occasions. For the first time, however, despite the good quality of the food, it was lukewarm at best. The bartender was so busy with diverse tasks that my drink was also tepid, a poor excuse for a supposedly chilled martini. Service was good, and I think the waitress would have tried to address our concerns. It was late; we were hungry; and we did not complain. This is not the typical Black Bass experiences.
We were really excited to have dinner at the Black Bass for the first time to celebrate our daughter getting a job and her moving to nyc. Sadly, we were disappointed in everything except for our waitress who was very nice. We were seated at a terrible table next to the wait staff’s station in an awkward spot where people were walking by our table constantly. The restaurant was so loud we had to yell to have a conversation. The food looked like it was literally thrown on the plate. My daughter ordered the lobster - it was over cooked. I had the short rib and it was over cooked and the same for my husband’s duck. I’m pretty sure we will not be going back to this restaurant anytime soon.
Upscale all the way!
Service was excellent.
Food was vibrant and delicious.
we love going there in the summer. Lovely for riverside dining or just for drinks after walking along the river and canal. We LOVE the winter menu.
Four of us made a visit here for Sunday brunch to celebrate friendship. Because we arrived early we waited at the bar until our table was ready. The bartender was hustling because she had both the bar and the servers to attend to. Yet she took the time to answer our questions about some of the historic items in the room while preparing cocktails. When she became aware that we had been waiting past our reservation time, she took it upon herself to go to the dining area to check on our status with the receptionist. Apparently, there was an issue that she quickly resolved. She then and escorted us to our table that turned out to have a spectacular scenic view. We couldn't have been more pleased. Our server soon arrived to greet us and describe the daily specials. During our stay we found her to be pleasant, professional, and tolerant of our attempts to be humorous. From the appetizers to dessert, our menu choices were delightful. Two of us had the crab cakes that were chock-full of crab with little filler. The petite filet's were on the small side, but flavorful and tender. The accompanying vegetables were prepared properly, a bit crunchy, not mushy and flavorless. This was a very satisfying visit and appropriately priced. An added bonus was the complimentary valet parking. Yes, the valet was friendly and efficient, warmly greeting us when we arrived and wishing us a fond farewell on our departure.
