Amazing .. as always.. The food, the service, the ambiance.
Great service, views and food. Great place.
Lunch on Friday was great. Porcini chicken and Porchetta were both excellent. Brussels sprout appy was done perfect. Sat along the window and watched the Delaware roll by. Reasonable price even with 2 glasses of wine. Spread out diners among all rooms and the car. The patio was socially distanced as well. One of our favorite places.
Beautiful setting and nice food. Unfortunately we has a very loud table sitting near us and could hear their entire conversation.
Very nice scenic setting along the Delaware Canal and River with big windows to overlook the scenery. Had cassolet for a 2nd time; this time it was much better but was a bit light on the meats. The Black Bass chard was very good (as always) although a bit pricey as well at $38 (750 mL bottle). All-in-all it was a good meal and experience.
The only thing I wasn’t happy with was that I called and left a message to request a window seat and they said no when we got there. The window tables stayed unoccupied the whole time. They stayed empty for the entire time we sat at another table.
Everything was perfect! Not only a delight to the tastebuds, the Black Bass checks all of the boxes. If you appreciate history, you will never want to leave. Highly recommended!
Had a lovely Anniversary dinner at the Black Bass Hotel. Everything was wonderful from beginning to end. Looking forward to having Thanksgiving dinner there this year with our family.
Anniversary dinner was fantastic. The waitress allowed us to take our time enjoy or cocktails and appitizer s and had our dinner ready at a nice slow pace. Very very enjoyable
Service and food was amazing! Only thing they didn’t acknowledge was our anniversary tho, not once it was mentioned. Not that we expected a handout but most places will at least say happy anniversary. n they knew as we were staying at the hotel as well n the manager confirmed but at least they seated us by the window.
Upon arrival, the floor under our table was dirty and had food on it. They offered us tap water or sparkling water. We went with tap water because I'm not picky but it tasted like it was from the river outside. The service was decent and our waitress Sue was very friendly and polite though it did take a little while for her to come and check on us. The menu changed on Friday apparently and we attended on Sunday evening so everyone was still getting used to what they had available. The food was delicious!!! The filet is probably in our top 3 favorites now. After dinner, we had dessert and champagne brought to our room upstairs which was lovely and the pumpkin cheesecake was delicious.
The food was excellent and the special cheesecake divine and the Sparkly Berry drink was very good. The tables were spaced apart so you were not close to other diners. The staff were their usual helpful, pleasant selves. Lunch was very enjoyable Would without a doubt go back.
Fantastic experience. Great atmosphere and outstanding service. We will be returning in the near future.
Filet was excellent.
“Signature Chesapeake Crab” was watery with texture of crab more mushy than expected.
Booked way in advance so that my daughter could see what her mom and aunt have been talking about. Wonderful meal and now she plans to return with friends! Tables nic3ly distanced and all top notch. Thank you.
Dinner, food, was the issue, ordered the Chartobriand medium rare and it came out medium to well, messed up entire experience.
Beautiful view, so nice to back inside! Service was friendly and helpful!!
Fantastic meal in a fantastic location with stellar service!
Was looking forward to Sunday brunch and found out when we sat down that brunch wasn’t being served, only the lunch menu. Started with the daily soup special which was only warm upon arrival. Entree was fair. The gentleman who seated us and the server weren’t friendly. I’ve had wonderful meals here before but unfortunately this wasn’t one of them :-(
Only lunch menu offered , flies were all over us at the table and waiter outside of window during meal stacking chairs in front of where we sat inside. Food was just ok , for the price definitely not worth it. View out window was nice , if you were sitting in middle of dining room.
We loved it there. They did a great job with social distancing and still providing a great meal.
The staff was very helpful in making us comfortable with our seating's , meaning we were to sit outdoors but it was a cool evening so they let us move indoors ever though our reservations weren't. Our waitress was the best, our food satisfying.
We like this place, food is always good, the staff attentive friendly and professional!
As always the food was delicious for most of our party. My friend was underwhelmed by the crabcake but she said the asparagus was good. My salmon was delicious as was salad, my husband's soup and jambalaya. We chose to get dessert at the general store but was told we could not get it unless we had the evening meal. Not sure why that happened. This was our third time visiting and even with these little inconveniences, we surely will be back.
Wonderful meal overall! We loved it and will return.
Service and food were both phenomenal.
Setup up reservation and noted that it was our 23rd Anniversary and that I wanted outside patio seating. Hostess was dismissive and told me that “THERE IS NO RESERVING THE PATIO THROUGH OPEN TABLE” wouldn’t even hear my explanation of how I specifically requested outside patio and had no reply to the contrary. Quickly ushered us to the inside table without hearing anything I was trying to say. Rude, dismissive and Terrible personality for a hostess!
Skinny blonde upstairs hostess working on 9/13 around 2 pm
Great to dine in like it was Feb 2020!!
Cheers to Black Bass for making it feel almost normal dining.
Charming and elegant, a relaxing place to enjoy excellent cuisine by the river in a historic comfortable atmosphere
Dining at The Black Bass is always a delight. This was especially true following the recent restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. The food and service were outstanding and the relaxing atmosphere and river views rounded out a wonderful luncheon experience. The cozy, comfortable and cordial atmosphere was a welcome reminder of how life was in the not so distant past, and how life is slowly returning to normal...
We found the perfect spot to enjoy wonderful food, friendly and attentive service, and the superb view of beautiful Bucks County. Dining is available inside or outside, both overlooking the Delaware River. And just to cap off a perfect evening a bald eagle flew by. This was a birthday celebration so we indulged in desserts, and discovered the best tastes ever. A lovely evening which we will fondly remember and look forward to return trips.
Notes from making reservation on OpenTable aren't read, i.e. outdoor table and celebrating Anniversary. Being first couple when they opened for dinner, they were going to seat us next to server's station inside (really). Being high risk and first time eating out this year, Anniversary or not, could not do it. They were able to give us a small table on a landing outside, which put us above normal outdoor seating and gave us best view of River. Server was very friendly and food was excellent. Food has always been good but service has been spotty over the years we've eaten there (free drinks when they lost our orders), so happy to have had a very enjoyable dining experience.
Great as always...outside seating was perfect & the service & food were excellent!
This is our absolute favorite spot to go to. Pre-pandemic we would go early weeknight to the tavern and enjoy drinks by the bar, with Jody as our bartender and server, who makes a great Basshattan, French Martini, and is overall just terrific company. And the food is always good. Now during Covid, we have gone a couple of times to have a lunch with good friends and sit outside with the Delaware River for an unbeatable view.
And we had the great fortune to have Jody wait on us that particular day.
Cannot give Black Bass higher grade or I would.
Black Bass is always a wonderful experience with excellent food, service and views of the Delaware River. We will be back for sure.
We reserved outdoor seating through Open Table, but the hostess was not aware of it until we arrived. Evidently, the restaurant schedulers read the online comments the day of service. If you want specific seating, it's best to make the reservation by phone. The hostess did have a way to work us in, so we were able to eat outside. Otherwise, we would have gotten take out and dined in a picnic area. We're only dining outside until our country gets covid in hand.
Great meal with a beautiful view. Tables are nicely placed apart and all staff wear masks. Feels very comfortable and safe.
We had a lovely night celebrating our wedding anniversary!!
We arrived a few minutes early to our reservation and were directed to our table on the patio. It was a high style bar table and being the 73+ year olds that we are, thought that it wasn't the best option. But since it was the only table available through our OpenTable reservation, we accepted it. Our server Jill, immediately made us feel at ease and was outstanding throughout our amazing dinner of Chateaubriand for two which was tender, juicy and so flavorful I almost forgot that we were sitting on bar stools. At the end of the meal the hostess offered us deserts on the house, which more than made up for the seating arrangements. Black Bass is a classy restaurant, whether you are eating indoors or outdoors!
Favorite place......and first time eating INSIDE since COVID. Happy to be downstairs at a cute quite table, until a noisy foursome arrived. Darn.
