We love this place but this time the food was OK, nothing great. We will go back again
Excellent, romantic ambiance and great food and service
Great food and great service.
My food was cold and so was my friends . Push in a corner hard to get out.
Just a wonderful dining experience right by the bridge from PA to NJ over the Delaware River. Great food, attentive service, and a comfortable vibe and warm ambience. Highly recommended - my wife and I will be back.
Black bass has always been a favorite. I think the menu has not changed.
My husband and I went for a late birthday lunch. As always, the ambiance (even in winter) was lovely. We enjoyed an appetizer of crispy brussel sprouts with bacon. My crab cake was a bit disappointing. I was expected to see some lumps of crab meat but it was highly processed. My husband's salmon "reuben style" was good. The wait staff were attentive and friendly.
Overall our experience was great. The food and service was wonderful. I just wished we had a better table. We were seated shortly after a table of four. Our table was literally right next to them, so we could hear their conversation and they could hear our conversation.
A wonderful restaurant.
Charming 18th century inn with beautiful views of Delaware River from dining room. First rate cuisine and wine list although can be too noisy when all closely arranged tables are full. Prices reflect a bit of a premium for the location and charm.
Food was great. Service was terrible. Waitress was not attentive and a little bit surly.
We went for my daughters 18th birthday. The valet parkers were very friendly and helpful. We were early for our reservation but the hostess was so nice and seated us anyway. Our waitress was very knowledgeable friendly and provided excellent service. The food was excellent and tasted fantastic. I highly recommend The Black Bass for a great experience
We were surprised at how awful the food was. The calamari-though billed as salty was beyond unpleasant! The dipping sauce is not for the meek or those suffering from hypertension. Not to mention the calamari itself had no color, just flash fried fried and topped with some unappealing fried peppers. The baby arugula salad had the right ingredients only there was so much dressing on it that it was just a wet mess on a plate. Then the tile fish for an entree was over cooked to the point the fish mushed with each bite. The fish was sitting on some sort of sweet sour goo/sauce that totally overpowered the delicate flavors of the fish. The cauliflower in that dish was cooked perfectly, but by the time you tasted that you didn’t care anymore. The scallops were very good, but once again the thick heavy sauce totally overpowered them. Our bill for four people- with only a few drinks was over $300. Go for cocktails. The view of the river is beautiful. Just make sure you eat somewhere before you arrive.
Loved this restaurant. We all had different appetizers and main courses...all perfect.
Thoroughly enjoyed everything just think it’s pricey for what you get - portions too small.
Always exceptional... service, food, scenery, enjoying the dining experience. Absolutely love their brunch!
Really good brunch
I just don't understand why coffee is not included
Had to ask service person if they served coffee
It was an up charge ,so OK but at least ask
Just add $2/$3 to brunch price and serve coffee
For years, we have celebrated family milestone events with Sunday Brunch at the Black Bass. Yesterday's
food and ambiance were better than ever. Thanks.
The Black Bass Inn is an historic building in a beautiful location along the Delaware River. The ambiance and service were excellent. My wife and I had the tilefish and the ribeye, both in the daily specials list. The cuisine is well prepared and presented. Overall, we had an very good dinner in a romantic and historic setting.
Feel of the place was great. Dined on New Year's Day so still decorated for holidays. Food was excellent - especially the Lobster risotto. Service was attentive and great. Had view of river while dining. Nice place for our anniversary dinner.
We had the champagne brunch on New Year's Day....an excellent experience! Service was excellent, food was very good...my filet a bit "more cooked" than I had ordered but...the restaurant was very crowded and it was a "holiday"....I choose not to send it back, and did not bring it to the attention of the server. It was still delicious!
My only negative comment would be with OPEN TABLE....I booked the reservation through them...I phoned the restaurant the day prior, to verbally confirm the reservation. No problem the day of the reservation, but later that day...I received an email from OPEN TABLE citing me for "missing the reservation and being a NO SHOW". A bit annoying....I recalled the restaurant to ensure that nothing had been remiss on my part. The Black Bass assured me "all had been handled appropriately. What's with OPEN TABLE???
We have gone to the Black Bass Inn for New Year's Eve for many years and love it. This year we felt rushed. I even expressed that to the waitress after our second course arrive two minutes after our first, which arrived 10 minutes after we sat down and had just been given our drinks 5 minutes prior. It was only my husband and I so we weren't planning on taking the table for 2 hours but we also didn't want to feel that in 30 minutes we were out the door.
Not sure we'll come back for New Year's next year. Food was excellent, waitress was very nice but the rush was not appreciated. When you go to a restaurant of that caliber on any night, you don't plan on a quick evening. It's a night out. But this push to get everyone out the door was especially wrong on New Year's Eve.
Our first time back after many years! Still wonderful!
We came for lunch on New Year’s Eve. The weather was rainy, but inside the BB it was cozy and friendly.
Our waiter was attentive and informative. The food was delish :)
We have already talked about when we are coming back. Thank you for the pleasure.
Charming historic building along Delaware river with great food!
As usual it was a superb lunch. Excellent food, service and ambience.
Cassoulet was a little too beanie, needed more meat but horseradish stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp was fantastic.
Great service even though fully packed restaurant.balet parking a real plus!
Always awesome! We have been coming here for over 50 years and it continues to be our favorite place.
Not interested in writing long reviews to satisfy some marketing person.
The Black Bass Hotel is a classy, historically correct venue. It can be reached from the Jersry Side by crossing over a foot bridge or driving directly to the restaurant and valet park. The service and food is always excellent. Sunday brunch is a treat.
The setting is beautiful, the service is fantastic; friendly, prompt wait staff, and the cocktails, wine and food simply out of this world!
The ambiance is very nice, especially if one gets a window seat as we did. The red wine we chose, a Pinot Noir from New Zealand, was very light but flavorful and a good accompaniment to the meal. Appetizers were only okay as the Brie was a bit harder than my wife was used to and the seafood chowder was a bit bland. Redfish entree was superb as were other main courses such as the short rib and the salmon. Our waitress was very cordial and helpful in explaining menu items. All in all a nice meal, but one should expect to pay top dollar here.
Gorgeous location, gorgeous room with amazing view. Surprisingly creative and well executed fine-dining cuisine. Huge cocktails, huge portions, great food, super friendly staff.
Excellent food. Truly outstanding service-Donna for server of the year!!!!
It was nice sitting at the window looking out at the canal. Our waitress was very pleasant. The food was excellent and plated nicely.
Out of town family. Friendly, professional, attentive staff. Great food and drinks. Great view.
Christmas Eve at the Black Bass was magical. A new tradition in the making...
Wonderful Christmas Eve Dinner.
Amazing!A family tradition for Christmas Eve. The food iscexcelkent and service superb
We had a delicious dinner with friends. The service was very pleasant and considerate. We stayed a little longer after our dinner since other tables were open for other guests. I didn’t feel any pressure from the staff to hurry up and leave. We’ll be back!
I made the reservation a couple of weeks ago to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. When we got there they sat us at a table next to a table of 4 . We were in the main hallway with cold air coming from the door and access to the downstairs tavern and the check in station. We asked if we could be moved to one of the sets of empty tables and we were told no they were reserved. They remained open throughout our dinner and were still open when we left for the evening.
My husband and I had brunch at the Black Bass the Sunday before Christmas and it will be one of the best memories of this holiday season, and a new annual tradition. Of course the dining room was bustling and noisier than usual, but it was the best kind of holiday cheer. Every one of the four courses was superb, and the free-flowing champagne was just perfect. Servers were attentive and congenial in the best way. And, of course, the Delaware rushing by outside is the cherry on top of the whole amazing experience. We can’t wait to return!
