Black Bass Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Four of us made a visit here for Sunday brunch to celebrate friendship. Because we arrived early we waited at the bar until our table was ready. The bartender was hustling because she had both the bar and the servers to attend to. Yet she took the time to answer our questions about some of the historic items in the room while preparing cocktails. When she became aware that we had been waiting past our reservation time, she took it upon herself to go to the dining area to check on our status with the receptionist. Apparently, there was an issue that she quickly resolved. She then and escorted us to our table that turned out to have a spectacular scenic view. We couldn't have been more pleased. Our server soon arrived to greet us and describe the daily specials. During our stay we found her to be pleasant, professional, and tolerant of our attempts to be humorous. From the appetizers to dessert, our menu choices were delightful. Two of us had the crab cakes that were chock-full of crab with little filler. The petite filet's were on the small side, but flavorful and tender. The accompanying vegetables were prepared properly, a bit crunchy, not mushy and flavorless. This was a very satisfying visit and appropriately priced. An added bonus was the complimentary valet parking. Yes, the valet was friendly and efficient, warmly greeting us when we arrived and wishing us a fond farewell on our departure.
Restaurant has lovely historical ambiance but not stuffy. A little pricey for everyday dinning.
Beer on tap is a great choice to have a drink before dinner for the price ( a full pint for $8.00)
Servicing sizes are small, you can't split an appetizer, we order the shrimp in bacon and paid extra to get an additional shrimp.
The main course was very good, serving size was small (good thing we filled up on beer)!!
Had creme brulee for desert, tasty but nothing special .
Wish we had the name of our server- tall, engaging Black Irish woman. She helped make the experience. Good selection, food well prepared and very good choices . View of the Delaware a bonus. Bartender and valets excellent , too. Coat check guy needs to be a little more animated. Highly recommend the Black Bass !
Black Bass Hotel has stunning views of the Delaware River as soon as you enter the door, with windows running the length of the dining room. There is another smaller dining room and a small bar, neither of which have the river views but are cozy. The drive to the Hotel is also beautiful, so it makes a nice outing. We were there for Sunday brunch, and really enjoyed the whole experience. Brunch has champagne and 4 courses, one of which is a palate cleanser. Our waitress was experienced, and returned rather than interrupt our conversation. Parking is across the street, no charge. Black Bass actually is a Hotel, we didn't stay but we were told that the rooms are gorgeous. The combination of good food and fantastic views makes for a great experience!
We love the brunch and the ability of getting a gluten free diet(even rolls). The food is very nice and well presented. The wait staff is very attenteive. It is always a special treat when we come.. The menu for lunch also has some wonderful meals. And the scenery is very pleasent to watch, especially the river and the ice flowing this past Sunday. Will be back soon.
Outstanding food and service. Particularly impressive are the gluten free options. My wife has celiac and must eat gluten free. Too often, restaurants offer GF options that are simply plainer versions of regular menu items. Here, many of the regular menu items are already GF and are still quite interesting and creative. We both had their signature Charleston Meeting Street Crab and found it to be delicious. My wife was also impressed that they provided GF bread, which is rare. She got the full experience for once and has been talking about it for days. Well done.
Although we enjoyed our anniversary dinner we were annoyed by being rushed!!!! For me, dining out is about the experience. This one was rushed! It took me longer to dry my hair than to have a meal from the cocktail to the check. The bus staff and the server were on us; waiting to take the plates as soon as the last morsel was visible. We felt no connection with the server, no pleasantries, no smiles but strictly business and move on!
We had a terrific lunch with friends on Saturday, December 16th. The food was original and creative while at the same time comforting and traditional. The service was excellent and we were able to take our time and bask in the beautiful scenic view of the river in Wintertime. the wine list was fine and we hadnthe opportunity to peak in at the bar which was really interesting and historic. We will certainly be back again.
The Black Bass was a wonderful spot to celebrate a special birthday. A Very nice wine and beer list and beautiful river front views. The town of Lumberville is a quaint place to visit on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River. River views and great food with attentive service are only a few highlights of a memorable visit. I would highly recommend The Black Bass Restaurant.
Celebrated a birthday recently. The river side view was so relaxing. Had the crabcake entree that was moist and mostly crab in a tasty sauce. Jill, our server was the best, both friendly and attentive. The Black Bass Hotel is one of our favorite restaurants. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, dinner or any special occasion.
We haven’t been here for at least 15 years. The food was fantastic, our server was very personable and atmosphere was great. We were seated next to a private room where a party was happenitn, so it did get a bit loud, but overall this was a great visit and we will be back!
We did not have a lot of time but our waitress who was very nice and friendly, served us quickly. We each had a salad, one pear and the other the baby spinach salad. Although both were delicious, they were on the small side for entrees salads.
The ambience is so lovely for lunch by the river on a sunny day!
Have been coming to the Black Bass since the ear 80's. The renovations were beautifully and very thoughtfully done. The inn has kept its elegant, historical and intimate ambience with modern conveniences. It is in a spectacular setting on the Delaware River.
1st time was awesome 2nd time a disaster...not consistent!
You can't beat the view, interior and atmosphere of this restaurant; then comes the mouthpiece (waitress). 1st time, very pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive, 2nd time, different waitress, very rude and inattentive.
The food had to be good or we wouldn't be there a second time, right? With dinner entrees $30-40, one would expect the food to be consistent; not the case.
Ordered the special, flounder stuffed with crab; no indication that either came out of the ocean, tasteless and not seasoned but the flower peddles sure were a nice touch. Same for the second dish, not seasoned properly and the reduction did little to help the taste.
Dare the trifecta.....don't think so!
First time visitors, restaurant was fantastic. Beautiful setting on the Delaware River. Nicely varied menu, with yummy apps like bacon wrapped, horseradish stuffed shrimp. Had lunch, and got the pastrami seasoned salmon sandwich, quite nice. The dinner menu had much more offerings than lunch, will go back to try other things...
