Don't go here if you are starving since the WAIT IS ALWAYs long (complimentary bread, drinks, food). Understaff or non-attentive staff or both?
Service is "super slow", we were constantly looking for the waitress for water or to place the next order.
Didn't get my order right. We had to wait longer for food to be redone (no offer of compensation for inconvenience for the longer wait or apology from anyone including manager).
Substitution for minor items even in drinks that you pay full price isn't even possible. For example, passion fruit vs strawberries. Replacement of a healthier choice: pico de gallo vs. sour cream, considering chopped tomatoes I hope gets toss at the end of day since it is consider a "night shade" item.
Steaks are ok, it's doesn't seem like a prime cut in my opinion.. a bit below a "choice" cut. Prime rib is decent.
Poor, slow service, bread was out right away before drinks, 15 minute wait on drinks, one of which was water. So thirsty customers. Most of the steak was undercooked. The table of 5 who were there before us had lots of food and drinks, so I suppose it looks like the tip will be big, you'll get amazing service.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Black Angus. My husband and I always enjoy our meals there. Our friends enjoyed theirs too. We were running late for our reservation and the staff there was very accommodating and we were still seated as soon as we arrived! We will definitely continue to come back.
We had a reservation and still had to wait. Steak was made wrong...twice! Would never go back to this Black angus but will still offer another chance to another one! I would not recommend this specific one!
We really enjoyed our dinner on 4/14, Saturday! Specially want to thanks our wonderful server" Annie" she made us feel welcome and give us great recommendation! We'll visit again!
Great food...great service ..will recommend to friends and family.
We walked in and our table was ready within 5 min.
Service was great. Prices keep going up. Prime rib and rib eye were not that tender.
Great food and good service !!!!
Always a family favorite. Love sitting in the booth. Lots of privacy. Delicious food and good drinks. Had a great, attentive waitress. Make sure to have a reservation! Otherwise you will wait for sure but with a reservation we got seated right away.
quick seating, extremely quick and friendly server, food was very good, steak and fish were cooked perfectly, great lunch time price
My family eats at Black Angus regularly, since it's one of my father's favorite restaurants. The food is usually tasty and a good value. The service is usually great, attentive and professional. This most recent visit disappointing. Service was slow. Food was lackluster. My New York steak was pretty tough. My father's prime rib was under done. I'm going to think twice about coming back.
We would occasionally go to the Torrance Black Angus with our relatives, and the food and service has been great, which is the reason why this is our go-to spot. However, our last dining experience was on Easter and it was the worst dining experience we have ever had. It did not seem busy but the service was so slow. We normally spend about a little over an hour there but this time, we were there for over 2 hours. The waiter took forever to bring our drinks. My wine glass was dirty with lip stain and fingerprints. I told the waiter, and again, it took forever to bring me a new glass. We ordered 3 appetizers. One came out. We waited. Our soups and salads came. By the time we finished, the other 2 appetizers were served. The nachos were not crispy and appeared to have been sitting for some time because the chips were soggy. The quesadillas also tasted like they have been sitting. Our entrees came. My mom's tri tip was overcooked. My son and I ordered the grilled chicken breasts and they, too, were overcooked and dry. My aunt and my daughter ordered the grilled shrimp and they, too, were overcooked. Our waiter never came by to check on us. I saw the manager as he was advising the shift, but they all seemed to have disappeared. Our table was right in the middle of the dining room so we had a pretty good view of the floor, but it seemed like our table was invisible. On a couple of occasions, we had to ask a different waiter for water refills. We did order dessert, but again, had to wait for those too. It was just ridiculous. Normally, I would have complained and/or requested to see the manager, but we were tired and just wanted to get the check and leave. We will not go back there again.
I love the Black Angus been going for over 30 years. Still enjoy the food over the years.
Black Angus is a first class restaurant that decaders to your personal needs. The place is clean and arranged in order for privacy. It is one of the best.
Birthday for 3 family members and we couldn’t get seating togetherness
My husband and I frequent this location often and we continue to come back because we are pleased and we are treated special.
Celebrating Easter- food (rack of lamb/salmon) delicious. Waitress Candy friendly and attentive. BA is becoming our place of choice for my husband and I to celebrate special holidays.
Experience was mediocre, veggies were cold and wilted looking and baked potato toppings were skimpy. We ordered the campfire dinner for 2 and the waiter brought the check without asking what we wanted for dessert and when I asked whether the menu said the meal for 2 included dessert, he shrugged. Restaurant was slow because it was early but we still got mediocre service, the person who seated us didn't speak to us at all as he directed us to our table, but he conversed with other employees in the restaurant. Our waiter wasn't very friendly either. I won't waste time or money coming here again.
Larry our Server Was AMAZING !! Efficient, Knowledgeable & Good Listener. Also, he KNOWS his Product WELL. We cannot say enough NICE things about him. Also, Wednesdays are 1/2 price OFF Wines and we had a SUPERB Greg Norman Pinot Noir, that he Suggested !!! The Lemon Poppy Seed cake was Devine.
Open table really is very convenient way to reserve seats. We just waited 5mins past 6p, then we’re called. Restaurant was jampacked(weekend). Waiters were cordial and amiable. Food was served in sequence. From appetizers to main dish to dessert. Been going to this place for the past 3yrs:)
I have been dining at the Black Angus in Torrance for 20+ years. This was probably the only disorganized service I've ever experienced. Also, the separate plating of my meal seemed to designate that the kitchen was disorganized.
I realize that this could have just been a bad night (attendance, accidents), but considering I've never experienced service and food of below average quality at this restaurant, I sincerely hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
3/28/18 - We had a 7: 30PM reservation we got there 15 minutes before the actual reservation. Within 10 minutes maybe less we were seated. Sometime a little time in between we talked but But I like this place it has changed in the last 5-6 since our last time dining here. The place is more pleasant then years ago when we use to frequently come here to dine. We do plan to come back again probably in like three months or Christmas season this year. The food was phenomenal. If I wasn’t so full I will stay for dessert but I couldn’t.
Diego was awesome! Ivan was fantastic! Loved seeing Angelica! All great team members at Black Angus! Food is Fantastic and paced so well! Thank you!
Great place to dine. Lots of good red meat dishes. Been coming here since it opened, "Just the other day", ha, ha, ha! They make a good Old Fashion.
A hidden gem. We always have great servers - polite, attentive and personality.
Food is good value
Love this place and I have great experience every time
Good Food
Good Service
Plenty of Easy Parking
No Wait with Open Table reservation
The food is OK; however, the waitress, Amanda, was EXTREMELY cold. She had a bad attitude with our requests. Sometimes we had to ask 2-3 times for extra napkins, refill on the soft drinks and/or coffee, extra bread, ask for tartar sauce, fix the invoice. There were 2 couples and we each had a lunch ticket for the $9.50 lunch offer. Amanda had to redo the invoice to reflect the 2 couples using the special $9.50 lunch offer!!!
I'm not sure that we'll be back to the restaurant. It's a bit far for us to travel, but the $9.50 lunch offer enticed us into trying the restaurant!!!
Good food, and service cool ambiance, was a good family dinner
This time the service was not that great. They were busy but, I have had outstanding service on busy nights in the past. As of now, it won't keep me from going back but, if it becomes more frequent, I will say something.
Nice dinner. Service was a little slow throughout the evening and no coffee refill after dinner even though we had desert. On the other hand we get impeccable service when we come for lunch, but they pretty much know us.
Our server was EXCELLENT WILL RETURN
We had a very good time. Our server Ivan. Was awesome very friendly, knew the menu well. An most importantly he was attentive. So made sure to leave a 20 percent tip.
I came here for the first time. Our server passed by us for 15 mins without saying anything. He gets to our table and Is very rude. He doesn’t bring our drinks until about 20 mins later. He brings us our bread at the end of our meals! Doesn’t offer us any refills, never checked if we needed anything. I would never come back here. Horrible service. Very rude servers and host.
I was sent a coupon so we decided to use it. It was basically a buy one get one free. I ordered the 1/2 lb prime rib dinner. I asked for rare and it came medium well. They changed it no problem. The piece of prime rib was so small and full of fat I could hardly see it. It looked like a breakfast steak. I got the salad and the baked potato. Because I had to wait for my rare meat the potato was cold. The portions are very small. The best thing was the bread. $21.95 for a 1/2 lbslab of prime rib that wasn't that good. My son got 1/2 lb prime rib and 4 tiny shrimp. The saddest shrimp I've ever seen. $28.95. The waiter was efficient and nice but made me nervous. He was moving to fast. Even with the coupon it cost $58.00! I won't be back.
We were seated before our reservation time which was awesome. The food was delicious. The waitress wasn’t very attentive. My husband and I ordered margaritas and they were tasteless. My husband asked if they could remake his. She looked bothered. Didn’t bring bread. When we asked for it she didn’t bring butter. Didn’t asks if we wanted anything else to drink and didn’t bring my daughter a refill.
It was a great eat experience the waitress she was very helpful a little busy but she stood her ground she did well. The food was excellent.
I was really disappointed 😞 with the food. I’ve had better steak from Norms. But the server was great.
Was a perfect meal... food was great and service was much better. Our server Ramey was awesome wish we could have her eveytime. The coupon is a great value for the camp fire.
