Black Angus Steakhouse - Toronto Ratings and Reviews
Very nice welcome...sat us immediately with some small talk from the waiting staff.
The bread was very oily and salty for my taste.....wine was very good.
We ordered the Chicago style 8 oz filly.
Steak was nicely cooked BUT it was very dry and chewy.
There was absolutely not a drop of steak juice on our plates after finishing our meals.
Comparing the Black Angus to Ruth's Chris is no contest as RC wins hands down.
Probably could have pan fried steaks at home and saved $400.00.
Attentive, helpful, professional service - that was the first thing I noticed. Warm, comfortable ambiance. Everyone raved about the steaks. The live music - Andy deCampos and Anthony Terpstra - was our reason for meeting for dinner. The combination of excellent music, fine dining, and good company made for an unforgettable evening.
We've been going to Black Angus for at least 20 years now. It's certainly not cheap, but the prices are fair for the quality and quantity of food. We tend to go there three or four times a year for birthday or other celebrations, and it's always accommodated us nicely.
With a group of 11 people, there's a wide range of expectations. Most people go for a steak, of course. But even those who avoid beef were quite happy with the chicken dishes, and the lobster bisque is a treat for all, especially seafood lovers.
We used to only go there about two or three times a year, primarily because in the past, they won't take reservations for weekends, which ruled out holding large group gatherings. Now that they take them (be sure to reserve at least two weeks in advance), we've been coming more often than before, and we've never had a bad experience there.
The filet mignon that my wife ordered was excellent!
The 8oz top sirlon that I ordered was very average. A little dry. I would not order this again, espeicially given it was more expensive than the filet mignon.
Musrooms were great.
Fries were great.
House salad was a little boring.
Asparagus should have been steamed a little longer.
Went for NYE and they accommodated extra guests at last minute. Thanks Harry! As always Black Angus is a step above, food excellent and service is always impeccable. This is an absolutely perfect neighborhood gem. Spoils for most other restaurant experiences. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year.
Started New Year's Eve celebrations with a family dinner at the Black Angus. Dinner was excellent - we were a party of six comprising of 4 men who absolutely enjoyed their steaks. I have been going to the Black Angus since I was a child and their service and menu remains excellent. They have stayed with the times in terms of decor but the small restaurant charm is still there. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
We had appetisers.. which we really did not enjoy. Expensive and not necessary. The waiters were charming and the place had a nice feel. The steak was outstanding and we wished we had just stuck with that and perhaps had bigger ones. The french fries are not great, but the baked potato.. was a baked potato. I saw the mashed going by.. it looked interesting. and saw review where someone commented that they were full of garlic. I like that and if I had known would have chosen. Green veg are extra.. we had asparagus.. not great.
Dessert.. newyork cheese cake... so often dry and this was no exception.
As I say.. go for the steak.. stick with it and enjoy .
On entering, the restaurant is very attractive - not your typical red and black plush - very tasteful and set the stage well. The initial service was prompt and friendly, and with cocktails in hand, we were settling in well. Then the rush was on. It became clear that the waiters (we had at least 3) although experienced, were bored and blase and just wanted us to eat and be gone. The steaks were good, the potatoes blah and the asparagus out of season and undercooked. And within 1 hour of arriving, we were eating dessert. And then, ironically, the wait for the bill began. And we waited and waited, with no offer of more coffee or a nightcap. Just sitting. Finally, and only after waving down a waiter, the bill arrived. A very, very disappointing birthday celebration. And $600 for 4 people!
I drive by this steak house most days and last Friday I thought I would finally give it a try. I was alone and seated at the bar. The service was incredible and Frank, the bartender was the best. The food was great and even better than I expected.
This was an awesome ding experience.
I searched for a steak house that our group hadn't tried (we've been to Jacob & Co., Hi's, Harbour Sixty, Barbarians, Tom's etc.). Black Angus was excellent. My partner had the bespoke 8 oz which was over done on the outside but everyone else was vey pleased with their meal.
The decor was nice, clean and comfortable. The service was a little wacky because we had a number of waiters but all were attentive. The owner checked on us a few times to make sure we enjoyed everything.
The only negative was that we had one vegetarian in our group. We called before we booked and they assured us that they had a few options. When it came to ordering they didn't and basically made up a plate of sides that cost $37.00. Not cheap nor satisfying or appealing. Please have a pasta option.
We are new to the neighborhood and chose this restaurant for a special occasion after receiving a flyer in the mail announcing their anniversary. The servers are very attentive, personable and knowledgeable. Our NY striploins were cooked perfectly, very tender and great flavour. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops, French onion soup and lobster bisque! Lots of variety on the wine list at varying price points. I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
A great dinner to celebrate my birthday. I have been eating here for about 50 years. Started with my parents. Always memorable meals, but this time it was exceptional. Harry has improved the Black Angus greatly. Good food...steak or seafood etc, good service with Ruben as lead, and sophisticated modern decor.
We'll be back!
I brought my family here for a fancy special occasion celebration. The vibe and decor are lovely and sophisticated. The staff took wonderful care of us and checked in regularly. The food, wine and champagne were all absolutely incredible - some of the best food I've ever had while eating out. Seriously, my filet mignon was perfect. Yes, this place is expensive. We were splurging because of the special occasion, so I really didn't mind the price tag. I wouldn't come here for something like a random Tuesday night, but for a celebration, it's going to be one of my future favourites. Check out the menu and prices beforehand so you don't get surprised when you arrive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I was hoping to enjoy a quiet intimate evening with my wife on her birthday. What we got was a loud bar type ambiance. The dress code of other patrons was tardy and their behaviour was loud and raunchy. The worst part was that the restaurant staff was doing nothing to tone them down instead they seemed to be encouraging. The food was a slight upgrade from the atmosphere. Portions were big but the steak was at best keg quality. Over all would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a high end steak house experience.
Amazing restaurant, food was fantastic, the whole place smelled like steak as you walked in, it was awesome, service old school and professional as service should be. Very attentive staff. Best steak I ever had and the Traditional Caesar salad was to die for. Would definitely go again.
Black Angus Steakhouse has been around a long time. In a business where trends come and go, perfecting a classic steakhouse menu and ambiance and remaining true to it has certainly paid off as you'd be hard pressed to beat The Black Angus.
From the moment you enter, a warm welcome greets you, passing the fridges housing an impressive selection of steaks, you encounter the massive open grills where the chef will ensure your choice is cooked to perfection. The table staff are highly experienced, unsure of what to choose from the extensive drinks and wine menu? Not a problem, your waiter will provide you with some great choices and believe me, you won't be disappointed. The entire dining experience is first class and if your looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, host a group event or gave a romantic evening, you could be hard pressed to top the Black Angus Steakhouse.
Thanks to our realtor my husband and I received a gift card to Black Angus. We decided to use this card for my birthday. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back. The food, ambiance, service was impeccable!! Our evening was spectacular. Thank you.

This was my 4th time dining here. However my latest experience wasn't the greatest. The food was fantastic as always, but if I am paying over $200 for 2 people to dine, I do expect top notch service, Which didn't happen this past visit. I was there celebrating my husbands birthday, and all was good until the food was served and not once did the waiter come by to ask how everything was and didn't fill our waters. Literally PARCHED and had to waive down anyone that would even look at us to get a refill. It wasn't that busy, except ALL the attention was given to an 80th bday party happening RIGHT BESIDE our table. But yet all the waiters would rush by our tables, not even looking at us, and would cater to the other table. We waited over 15 mins to have our plates cleared, then had to wait another 10 mins to ask for a dessert menu, and then another 15 mins to get someones attention to get our bill. That was taken care of immediately, but just overall lacking in service that I am accustom to at this establishment. I will return because of the caliber of food- and hope this was just a one time incident. But waiters should not favour larger tables. It was unnecessary to have 3 waiters service a table of 8 ladies and ignore a table of 2 that was there for a just as equal celebration.
