Black Angus Steakhouse - Superstition Ratings and Reviews
This used to be one of my favorite spots. Normally I only take the time to write terrific reviews, but I am making an exception. Dont waste your money here. They have gone downhill over the past year. My salad was brought to the table with lettuce only. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she returned with 2 shriveled grape tomatoes. The prime rib was so tough the steak knife hardly cut through...the list goes on. They offered to cook another steak, and they did. I had them pack it up to go though. I had already wasted over 2 hours there. I am done spending money at Black Angus.
Our guest of honor was celebrating her 100th birthday at her favorite restaurant and the greeting at the door was fantastic. There were yellow roses and balloon at the table for the birthday girl which was such a nice surprise.
The birthday dessert was fantastic. The birthday girl was so happy and said it made her day so very special.
as always everything was very very good...this is my favorite place to go and eat I had the fall trio special, lobster tail, scrimp and top sirloin with a baked potato...service very good and glad that I made a reservation as it was crowded but only had to wait about 5 minutes
I don't normally leave reviews, but since this meal had a few issues that may help others make a decision I thought it worth while. My reservation was for 5:30 in the afternoon and got seated promptly due to lack of people, so crowding wasn't an issue and there were many empty tables. However, it was at this point that the meal went downhill. Our server, while polite and friendly, took 15 minutes to come and get drink orders, then even though the order was for 5 waters and 3 beers, still managed to forget a beer and a water. The house brew was quite good I will admit freely, clean, crisp and not overly hoppy. 15 minutes after that he came back and asked us if we were ready to order. We ordered a typical meal I assume with 2 apps and 5 entrees. At this point we find out that they are already out of one of the side dishes even though their dinner rush hadn't even begun. 30 minutes later our apps arrive, 15 minutes after those our meal arrives, with 3 of the 5 steaks completely over-cooked. The term medium on a steak means a faint bit of pink in the middle at a minimum, not black on the outside and grey on the inside. If a steakhouse cannot even serve a proper steak then it deserves to lose customers, especially when the entree costs $35 or more. The server did offer to have the kitchen cook us more steaks but we did not have another 45 minutes to wait for them, and there was no offer to remove that cost from the meal. 20 minutes later we were finished eating and ordered our deserts that came with the meals and told it would be about 5-10 minutes for them to finish on one, which is acceptable, but not when it takes 20 minutes to arrive. Overall, a meal that should have taken an hour due to there not being many customers took over 2 due to waiting for food and service. I will not be eating there again. If you are looking for a quiet place to sit down to a 2-3 hour meal and a lot of drinks to make you ignore the bad food then this may be the place for you.
The overall experience was fine, not overwhelming. Shrimp cocktail was just OK: shrimps were of decent size, but they could have been larger and firmer. Was told the salad dressings were homemade. My blue cheese dressing didn't have a lot of flavor and the salad was watery. Greens were out of a bag. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Waiter was friendly and did a decent job. Ordered coconut cake. He brought carrot. I was looking forward to the molasses bread. Nothing special there. It was just OK. It was a special occasion so we put on our nicer casual clothes. Restaurants just don't enforce and dress codes anymore. Lady at booth across wore her golf hat through dinner. Guess I'll need to spend even more somewhere to find that "special occasion" restaurant. This isn't it. They did offer nice specials. I would not have wanted to pay menu pricing.
