Black Angus Steakhouse - Superstition Ratings and Reviews
the front staff is lacking experience and kindness and wait time is horrible every night. A pager system is highly recommended. the bar is super small.
BUT once your seated, its very nice. Good waiters, great food. Most important thing we noticed is the portions are just right. Drinks are really good. Management is always there and making rounds.
We try to go atleast once every 2 weeks. Never an issue with the food.
Valentine’s Day- seated near the door in a booth, which was nice, although it was somewhat cold and drafty there. Service was very good. The server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The food came quickly ant it was good, although the vegetable was cold . The meat is as cooked to perfection and the dessert was great. Overall a pleasurable dining experience.
The last two times we have been there the food has been only ok quality. My ribeye steak was so tough I asked to have it removed from the bill because I honestly could not chew it, and it was prepared medium rare. For the prices they charge, they really need to do a better job. We won’t be coming back which is unfortunate as it is very close to where we rent for the winter.
Our evening at Black Angus Superstition was outstanding, the food was excellent, the service (Brad) outstanding, everything about the evening was great as I knew it would be from past experience. We all loved it and will return. Thanks for a great time. Salome Vatter.
Kind of Pricey for the quality of food & service we got - the young kid server padded our bill when running the total to secure a tip option - the option should have been ours to possibly leave a cash tip - but we ended up having to use a different card because of the server's actions. I worked Food & Beverage, Hospitality service all my life - 20 years in Las Vegas, 10 of which was VIP Services at the Wynn Resorts & Mandalay Bay. I have worked as a "Spotter" & "Secret Shopper" in various restaurants & resorts in my career, so I see things that others don't, being retired, I try not to focus on such things anymore unless warranted.
A few items that were disappointing. The hostess looked past me when I was right in front of her. I came right to her when she called my name and it took her calling my name again and a few more a seconds though I was directly in her view and in front of her. Bread took quite awhile to be served after appetizer. Drinks took awhile to refilled. The seating right by entry is akward, with view of only hostess station, lacked ambiance and lacked privacy. Should be last resort for any guest.
Our server was not good at all. This was our first time to a black Angus and probably won't go back. I was asked if I wanted a strawberry or raspberry iced tea, I chose raspberry because I'm allergic to strawberries. When it came and i explained i was allergic to strawberries she rolled her eyes and gave me a hard time because "I should have known" again, tgis was our first time here and she said raspberry OR strawberry.
My husband got the loaded baked potato soup and hates sour cream. This is the first restaurant I've ever been to that didn't ask "so sour cream and bacon are ok" I actually heard a different server ask all the right questions to her table. I used to be a server and it really annoys me when they are lazy at their job. Our server never came over to check on us to see if we needed anything or if our food was good. Affer our food was brought out we only saw her again when she cleared the plates.
We also had to ask for bread after 20 minutes, she rudely said "I can't just take it out of the oven so when it's out it's out"
My husband and I rarely go out, so when we do we expect to be treated with respect, not pushed aside or spoken rudely to.
Hostesses seem to hang out more than work. No greeting walking in or out. Made a reservation and still had to wait 10-15 mins for a table. All to get sat at a table way in the back next to the kitchen, the loudest area of the restaurant. I couldn’t hear or have a comfortable conversation with my wife. Heard “corner” way too many times that night. Will never return to this location.
It's a good old fashioned high back booth steak & seafood restaurant that we were raised enjoying with our folks. From the entry to our exit EVERYONE we came into contact were professional, informed, gracious and friendly. Especially liked our wait person, ALLISON.
Our waitress, Britene, was an exceptional waitress She was efficient, knowledgeable , smiling and and pleasant. Our food was delicious. Our New York strip steaks were perfect med rare. We were asked to check the steaks for correct doneness when they were served to us. The steaks were flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning. One person at our table had salmon and said it was excellent also. There was background music that was just that... background music - perfect. The booths have high padded backs, so there is a lot of privacy and the noise level is her low. We will be back at the Black Angus on our next visit to Mesa.
The reservation got us seated in about one minute. Extremely happy with the service and the food. One main reason we always go there is because of the Cajun blackened that they do is always so good however the last two times they seem to have changed the recipe which is not as spicy as it was previously. I hope they go back to what they were doing.
When I am craving a prime rib or ribeye in the east Mesa area, I think Black Angus. A wonderful selection of cuts and they can bring a rare prime rib to the table like few others. Black Angus knows it's business and executes flawlessly. We were seated immediately and our server Carli handled a busy evening like we were the only diners in the room. Her skills added to the relaxing enjoyment of the evening.
As a whole the food was good except my husband had the steak and it was so tough he ended up leaving over half of it because he said if he kept trying to chew it he would chock. Waitress could see all the meat half chewed but didn’t comment and he just said he didn’t feel like saying anything. Lobster was very good but the cost of the drinks was atrocious.
