Waiting a long time for service. Out of bread. Out of lamb. Drinks took forever to get. Coffee was never refilled. Water was never refilled
We are upset the Sunnyvale Black Angus is closing. We have been enjoying meals there for many years. We usually have the coupon for the campfire dinner for 2 which I believe is a good deal for the amount of food we get. There are areas in the restaurant which are quiet which is good for conversation. Once in a while the service is a little slow but overall we have had good experiences.
Black Angus Restaurant in Sunnyvale is closing down on 5/31/19 after 40 years of service.
My family has patronized Black Angus Sunnyvale for 40 years and we had dinner there today to say goodbye. We are very sorry to see this venue close. The food and the service were always excellent. We will miss it.
They are closing staff doesn't care, food was good. The hostess waited on us, because the waiter was too busy bullshiting to wait on us. Then they brought out salads before appetizers and just didn't seem to care
No recommendations, Because they are closing. We usually Oder the campfire special ... a boos variety of sides and lots of food! We seem to always bring dessert home!
We used to go here often. On our recent visit this weekend we see it is closing 5/31/19.
So sad to see it go. There are too many places we frequent that have recently closed.
Hope they will relocate near us. San Jose location is nothing like the Sunnyvale location.
We have enjoyed dining at Black Angus for the past 20 years. We are sorry to learn that they are closing at the end of May, 2019.
We always enjoy our dinners at Black Angus. Great food, amazing service, and they always have tables available.
Absolutely! The service was great, the food was prepared just the way we liked it, the manager came around to make sure everything was alright. I have been going there regularly for years but this time they outdid themselves. I was very sad to hear about them closing.
They are closing the end of the month, so I would not recommend Sunnyvale, maybe Milpitas or Blossom Hill.
Sad that they are closing!
Had to have dinner there just one more time before they close. The drinks were great and the food as good as usual. Service was a little slow but our server was very friendly. We will miss Black Angus - Sunnyvale.
They are closing this restaurant in two weeks, so my review doesn't matter.
Hamburger ordered well done was very pink. Food took s long time to come out so I didn't want to send it back. It was Mother's day, so we can excuse everything.
Food was good. It was Mother's Day, so it was a little busy and it took some time for our orders to come. In general, very tasty. A tad pricey.
The prime rib was good, but that's about it.
One person didn't get meal until the rest of us were almost done and his order was a salad! Paid more for asparagus and need magnifier to find it! No wonder they are closing.
Great place. Great food great service even for being mothers day,we still got great service. Def would recommend this place
Just stopped by for a casual dinner. It was super packed. Granted it was mother day weekend. Luckily we had reservations but still ended up waiting 15 minutes because they were behind schedule. We had the shrimp cocktail which was down right sad and disappointing. We had 6 tiny unfresh shrimps. Talk about a rip off for 12 bucks. The dinner consisted of rib eye steak and filet mignon for the lady. Both were okay and no complaints. Nothing special though but i don’t come here expecting an A1 steak. Dessert we had a chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. It was actually the best thing we thing we had overall. We killed it and left satisfied. Service was a little slow but totally understandable for it being slammed so no point taken off there. After trying this one i think the one in milpitas is better to be honest.
It is closing in a few weeks. Inadequately staffed. Food mediocre.
The staff are friendly and nice. Everything was wonderful.
We have been going to this restaurant very frequently for the last 20 years and always enjoyed a great steak there. Unfortunately by the end of this month this restaurant follows the bay-area trend not being able to renew the lease from the landlord. My family will be very sad seeing another one of our favorites gone.
I'm so sorry to hear this restaurant is closing, and hope they find a new location in Sunnyvale soon. I will miss our excellent server, Antonio, and hope he returns when a new Black Angus is opened in Sunnyvale.
Black Angus still serves their warm molasses bread. YUM
The Prime Rib was awesome, as were the scalloped potatoes.
Also enjoyed the red wine sangria.
This review is a moot point, since they are closing. Just a suggestion to all of you trying to squeeze in a last visit....DON'T! It was the worst experience ever. We had a reservation for 7:15. Didn't get seated until 8:00. 6 adults crammed into a tiny booth. Server did not even show up at the table for 20 minutes. Food was cold and not the normal quality. We did not get our check until 10:00pm! Ridiculous. I was sad to see them go, but they just made it a whole lot easier.
I made reservation, but we still waited 25minutes. They said they were behind in reservation. Service Average, we waited 5-10 minutes before waiter showed up, another 15 minutes before we got our water. Must use coupon, otherwise the values of the food would be higher than expected. There were additional $3 for veg, but the waiter didn't inform us that he would charge me. There was an additional 3% service charge for unknown reason. I didn't say anything to the waiter, but I was not please that they charged me additional $5 without telling me.
Sorry to hear this location will be closing for good on May 31st. I came here in the 80s after work with coworkers for happy hour. Another long time institution to close its doors forever. Very sad.
It's all academic now...the review is of no consequence b/c this B. Angus restaurant is closing soon...likely because of a greedy landlord; certainly not because of a lack of business. Too bad...a great value restaurant. One more favorite bites the dust.
We really like Black Angus Steakhouse in Sunnyvale because the service is good and the staff from the GM down to the servers and bussers are friendly and customer oriented. Unfortunately we can't recommend them to a friend because they are closing.
We have come here a number of times over the years and have been happy. The food wasn't up to par with other visits.
Artichoke appetizer-It was either not ripe or under cooked. The manager came by to see how we were doing and we told her about the artichoke. She was very nice and offered to replace it. We declined, as our meals were coming soon.
We ordered 2 prime ribs. Again, it usually is almost melt in your mouth good. This was tough and dry.
It was my last visit since they are closing next week. I’ve been coming here 40 years and am very sad that it will no longer be here. Sunnyvale is closing so many restaurants and it’s almost impossible to find a good old American steakhouse or diner. Ethnic restaurants are fine but too many!
The service was terrible and for the third time in a row the prime rib was under cooked, overly fatty and a lower cut of beef. We used to enjoy going there, but no more. We were informed The place is closing down in May.
Service was excellent
We have come here many times but the service is getting worse. Wait staff make multiple errors, forget orders and often put order in wrong.
We've been going to Black Angus with our family for years. It has always been consistently an excellent value, great food and wonderfully friendly service. We love Black Angus.
We arrived early and were quickly seated anyway. Our server was pleasant but seemed to lack a bit with communications. Food was quickly prepared but was not hot when served.
With the coupon, the meal was a good deal although the portions seemed much skimpier than in the past
The black Angus is one of our favorite places to go because they have good deals but I have noticed a sharp decline in getting the food to the table in a timely manner. It’s not the servers who are lagging but the kitchen. Don’t know if they allow the servers to get things like this soup and salad and desserts them selves rather than the chefs, But there have been times where we have gone and it takes anywhere from 45 min to an hour and a half for the food to come… And that’s just not acceptable.
Dinner was great, Our waiter David, didn't rush our courses, so we had ample time to finish each course.
very good meal and experience
Had a friends get-together. We were seated immediately with our reservation and our server was close behind. We started with the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer and it never fails to be awesome! Hope they never take that one away...For the main course a couple of us had the Campfire Feast for two and had the small filets. Both filets were done to perfection and both of us were happy with our sides. Now you can get a variety of potatoes with the mashed (I.e. garlic, loaded, etc.) so that was a nice enjoyable surprise. One of our party was just having sides as a meal and the one was to come with the rest of our meals. It came early and it was sitting there when both the server and a manager came and apologized for the mistake. That was really nice of both of them. That person in our party was grouchy that night anyway and the mistake didn't help - but the rest of us thought it was very nice of them to admit the mistake and apologize, offering another "hot" one. Dessert was the cranberry apple cobbler. Not as great as the last peach and berry one...but still really good and would recommend it. We keep going back to Black Angus because the food is always good and a really good price for all you get!
Nice family place to visit for good food and comfortable setting. Nothing fancy but appealing.
Nice deal if using a discount coupon.
Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. The salmon is delicious, and we'll be back for sure. We'll probably bring a few friends with us.
