Black Angus Steakhouse - Sunnyvale Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, this night was not one of our better experiences at Sunnyvale's Black Angus. The short rib special, while tasty, was very oily. The 8 oz prime rib is my "go to" yet this one seemed really small compared to previous visits. The au jus had no flavor at all. My broccoil was pretty overcooked...our plates may have sat a little longer than they should have before reaching us. Our server was running here, there, and everywhere.
All steaks in our order were poorly prepared; NONE were prepared at the cooking level ordered; One of the steaks had to be returned, which had a guest wait the entire dinner, while the others finished, before the guest could even begin his meal; The meals were "slapped" together in a hurry, with the vegetables looking dead and the Fillet Mignon tasteless; The dessert, which we ordered to go and only opened after we got home was less than the regular portion I have had many times before; Service was poor - bread and condiments had to be asked for before brought to the table; Not once did the waiter come to inquire about our meal; Not once did the waiter offer more bread; Waiter was only interested in recommending items that costed extra and none of his recommendations were prepared well; Several service staff ate their dinner on an adjoining table at 9 PM, while we were still eating; It was a first occasion at a Black Angus for my guests, so not only was I completely embarrassed, but also will NEVER patronize this location and probably this brand in the future; I have eaten on many occasions for over 20 years at the Black Angus location in Burbank, CA, and have never experienced such third-grade service and/or sub-standard quality food before; It is no wonder that the Sunnyvale location was not bustling on a Saturday night, with many of the tables vacant at 7:25PM.
This Black Angus in Sunnyvale is better for dinner than lunch. Reservations were easy, but sports bar area where they set up our table lacked the ambience of the rest of the restaurant. We ordered drinks but the waitress forgot my husband’s Ice tea until he mentioned it 10 minutes later. My son asked for A-1 and was given it halfway through his meal. One of our guests received the wrong side and another guest received the wrong toppings on his side. In addition, the pineapple seltzer drink I ordered was not tasty.
Loved the steak, wedge salads, and baked potatoes. Waitress was very friendly but seemed like she had other things on her mind. Maybe all of her other tables were in the other part of the restaurant and we were the only one in this part of the restaurant.? We don’t know but we still tipped her well.
The restaurant has a great environment for either business or personal dining, the table setting is good and quiet. My only complaint about the reception is that they cannot find my OpenTable reservation, and even told me that sometimes it doesn't get through, but as the matter of fact, my wife already checked in and they probably remove it, need to be trained on how to use online tools.
This place provides great service and food. Their campfire feast coupon is really worth it, and I recommend it. The building itself is a little old, and it started leaking on our booth. Luckily, there was no food on the table yet, and they let us switch tables quickly.
Waited 15 minutes to be greeted. Our server slammed down some waters and walked away. Came back 15 minutes later and gave us bread. We asked to order. We ordered Chicken tenders. Our server came by less than 3 minutes later and slammed them down and walked away. They looked as if they have been sitting for a while. Waited and waited. Our waters begun to become empty. We counted and 35 minutes passed as we sat with empty cups and no food. Our server continuously walking by and noticing we had no water, but continue to ignore us. This was the worst service I have ever had. We ended up leaving. I was so sad that this is the experience I got on New Years. Did not set my year off right. Will NOT be coming back. 3 other tables near us had the same exact issues and left early.
We went to Black Angus for New Years Eve. We were seated quickly because we had a reservation. But the waiter service was TERRIBLE. We waited over an hour for our main courses to be served and they were cold when we got them (which means they sat unnoticed, ready to be picked up by the waiter for a long time). My son ordered sesame chicken and it was badly overcooked and rubbery
The wait time for the food to be served was awful. We were actually served our main course before we got our salad! The quality of the steak was poor and the bake potato was cold. We have been coming to Black Angus for 25 years and are very disappointed with this restaurant. The only thing worth eating was the bread. We will not be back again.
We started with the wagon wheel sampler platter which was a lot of food for 2 people but delicious. Then I had the New York steak and my wife had the prime rib, they were perfect.
We finished with the white chocolate cheesecake , which we shared and it was delicious.
We plan on going back for dinner in a couple of weeks for another great meal.
Thank You Black Angus for making our date night just right
On of our favorite "go to " places when friends/family are in town and we want a great meal and get together. The value for the price is exceptional and you can't beat it. We had reservations - got in immediately and had service shortly after. Our server was attentive and our appetizers arrived shortly. The cheesy garlic bread is outstanding and let's hope they never change that recipe. We all enjoyed salads or soup and the Caesar salad is still one of my favorites. Our main courses varied from chicken to steak but everyone enjoyed their meal and my filet was done perfectly. Two of us shared the mud pie for dessert and the other two the seasonal cheesecake. I think the only downfall this restaurant has food wise is in it's desserts. They are average at best although we have had a few special seasonal ones in the past. The Cowboy Cookie is still the favorite because you can't mess up a warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream!
I was initially offset when the hostess kept telling her co worker who was going to seat us “tell (waitress name) I’m so sorry.” Right in front of us and stated at least 3 times. I felt as if my party of 9 was going to be an inconvenience for her. So I was a little unsure why the hostess would even make a comment like that
Black Angus in Sunnyvale continues to be a good, reasonable steak restaurant. Service is also good. Did notice, however, there is now a “premium” charge for certain sides. What difference is there between a wedge salad and a regular salad that $1.00 more is charged?
We had the most disappointing Christmas Eve dinner at the Sunnyvale Black Angus. We had 6pm reservations but didn’t get seated for at least 1/2 hour even though the entire party was there. There was confusion over who our waiter was, so we didn’t get any water or drinks for at least 10 minutes after that. Then the waiter didn’t even bring all the drinks! My son asked for water three times and never got it. We knew there was trouble when the waiter brought a second, free appetizer. Sure enough our food was delayed until Another 45 minutes and most dishes were ice cold or tepid from sitting under the heating lamps. We sent several back and had to wait even longer. Most of our dinners were pretty awful; no one thought they got anything above “acceptable” or “edible”. We refused dessert, just wanted to leave. The manager said he’d comp us a meal but when the check came, it wasn’t. After waiting another 15 minutes for a manager that never came, we paid and left. Needless to say, we will not be coming back!
Black Angus has been a good neighborhood steakhouse for years, with better than average food drinks and service at moderate price range. On my last visit with 7 people food service from the kitchen was slow and timing was off. We ordered 3 appitizer plates, 2 of them were the same item. The first plate came out after about 20 minutes. The second plate took another 10 minutes the third plate was the same exact item as the second and took another 10+ minutes to arrive. Entree delivery was not much better streching out over 10 minutes for all the plates to be delivered. Desserts however were deliverd quickly and all at the same time.
This was a great restaurant with fair prices for the service provided. I have been going there for the past 30 year. Now it is a poor steakhouse with high prices and poor learner cooks. A short order grill would me more appropriate for them.
I do not plane to return.
The food here is average- the lobster is always cold when it’s served. The steaks are usually pretty good but the sides and dessert are very average- and it’s all very expensive- dinner for 4 can easily be $200. The ambiance is cozy and there’s usually no wait- which is why I think we go so often. The place is usually full but it’s large so the wait isn’t long.
I loved the Campfire Feast special for two. It's a great value and the ribeye was tender, juicy and delicious. The charbroiled flavor was great. We come when you have the specials. We had a group of 8 people so the special was great for us. The service was great too.
I have eaten at this restaurant 5 times in the past 2 years. The food is always good; the meat is very tasty and good quality. I joined the prime club and I get coupons via email and it is a good value. On this visit my husband and I ordered the sirloin, medium. Our steaks were well done instead of medium. We didn't send it back however. The steaks were very tasty and moderately tender, even though it was more done than we liked.
Salad had two mych dressing on it, meat was too much done, potato grattin was full of something oily.
3% added because of recent minimum wage increase - so is it like a fast food paying its cooks and servers minimum wages? then no surprise the fiod is not good!
Used a coupon for a surf-n-turf plus fried shrimp dinner -- good flavors, and really great server (Liz?) ... biggest problem on the evening is that the temperature inside the restaurant was cold. The staff would love to do something about it, but structurally, something in the environmental controls keeps them from heating the place up more when the outside temps drop.
My brother and I tried the Campfire Feast for the first time (had a coupon) and it was well worth it. Shrimp cocktail (I ate it all), ribeye for me and filet mignon for him, not that impressed with the cheesecake for dessert but that might be because we were stuffed to the gills... Great service from Brad (our regular server is Bree but she wasn't working that evening). And they have great iced tea.
Unfortunately, this was the worst Thanksgiving restaurant experience ever. We waited almost an hour for our food...were informed that ours would be the last table receiving turkey because they'd run out (with two hours of dining hours left!)...the majority of the vegetables served to our table were undercooked and raw...it was just awful.
We thought they were being nice about making it up to us by comping 3 of our 8 meals and giving extra desserts, only to be told by Manager that our server would be "paying" for this, as she "shouldn't have served" us this undercooked food. WTH? How does a waitress know if the kitchen is sending out bad food?? This seemed just awful - we tipped her generously to compensate but will NEVER be back.
