My husband and I both ordered filet mignon but I believe they gave us at least one prime rib cut. It definitely wasn't the advertized center cut aged angus steak I was looking forward to. That being said, our experience at this location has been good in the past.
We like to go to Black Angus for a good all around salad, steak, and dessert dinner for a special occasion as such, it was my birthday.
My wife and I have have been dining at Black Angus for many many years. The food is excellent and so is the service. We get good value for our money. We will return.
This was my fourth time eating at this particular Black Angus in Sunnyvale, California. I was taking my friend out for his birthday.
However, this experience was decidedly different. Instead of a packed steakhouse, I found the place almost deserted at 9:45 PM on a Friday night. We ordered the $62 meal for two. The appetizer sampler was only partially successful, since several of the chicken strips were undercooked and still pink in the middle. I ordered my New York steak medium rare and received it between well done and medium well.
I asked that the manager be informed that the chicken had been under cooked and the steak had been overcooked which is the exact opposite of how you err at a steakhouse.
The manager never came over to the table but sent word through our server that my dinner would be on the house which is half of the price of the meal.
Both my friend and I felt a little sick to our stomach‘s after the meal and decided that we would not return.
(I did not penalize the server for screw up by the kitchen and tipped him between about 20% for what I guessed would be the total amount without the reduction.)
It was great.
A good place to be for birthdays and other occasions. Staff are nice and friend! Service is great! Would definitely come back.
Jorge is a good waiter.
it was a good dining experiance we will be back, wine was expensive
The wait was an hour longer than our reservation was for. There was also no room to wait comfortably inside.
It was Valentine’s Day and it was super crowded. Luckily we made a reservation with open table.
The food was very good and everything great. They did make
A few mistakes on the bill but did correct it.
The night was great. My friends I i had a great time.
Our dinner was delicious and even on a busy Valentine’s Day, our server Isabelle was attentive and accurate and friendly.
We wanted to have lunch at Black Angus on Feb. 14 th and I indicated it on Open Table’s form. 1 PM was our choice but Open Table gave 3PM as the available time...Imthought the restaurant was busy for the Valentine’s day...we also had lunch coupons of Black Angus....but at 3PM they told us they do not serve lunch at Sunnyvale Black Angus! I wish Opentable reservation form indicated this fact..... :(
Had same server as previous reservation - much more engaged, responsive and prompt with status and suggestions. Menu items changed where added more choices to menu including desserts. Did try new orange chocolate cake - moist, hint of orange blended with cocoa and chocolate chips - definitely try if love these flavors.
The meat and steak were fine—getting properly cooked vegetables was impossible. When we finally got cooked broccoli, it was yellow, limp and sad and not fit at all to eat. Would recommend they get fresh shipments of broccoli and string beans more often!
My only complaint is there are no tables in the dining area, and as I am Handicapped, we always have to eat in the noisy sports bar. My husband and I celebrated out 80 and 82nd birthday with the TVs going full blast, also in Jan we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary, again with the TVs going full blast. Makes it a bit hard to have a conversation. Service was great.
they have great steaks, good vegetables, good drinks. the asparagus was quite good. choice of a more open dining room and quiet booths in the back.
Another couple ,my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary dinner at your Black Angus restaurant every year.
I live close to the restaurant and have enjoyed everything about this place many times. I introduced my daughter and grandson who started to go there regularly. For my son-in-law's bday we invited him and my other daughter making us five. We waited over an hour for our food after ordering which was surprisingly mediocre, beverage service very slow, salads first, appetizers second. With all this waiting my son in law went to the restroom and a light cover fell from the ceiling in the bathroom, broke on his head and punctured his scalp. Two managers were in the bathroom when it happened but left without much interest or concern. He had to exit the bathroom and ask for managers to get assistance. They did ultimately take an incident report, remade my son law's food and comped most of the check. Have they checked to see how he is since after knowing his wound would not stop bleeding? Kaiser has....
4 of us dine there monthly. We like the the booths, and reduced noise compared to many other restaurants. The waiter was very prompt, and delivered hot food.
We always enjoy our treks there.
We have a disabled individual in the group, and she is able to manage with her walker, without difficulty.
Only negative comment would be that we are not afficianadas of country music.
The staff will turn down the sound when it is requested.
Does not have tables/chairs in the dining area. We always have to eat in the noisy sports bar to get a table. Used to go for lunch, closed now @ lunch time. .1st time in many years of celebrating special occasions that my meal could have been better..chicken dry. Excellent service.
Black Angus has declined over time. I had friends coming from Daly City to eat with us in the Sunnyvale locations for the past 3 years. The last visit was unpleasant. The service had changed a lot. Our waitress picked up (with her bare hand) our appetitizer from one plate to another plate on our table to make room for our entrees. Then our typical prime ribs were overcooked like pot roast. Luckily someone came back and gave us another servings which looked more like prime ribs. Then the bill came, and we found that all the drinks in our kid meals were charged extra. We had to notify the server and she claimed it got corrected. After 3 days, I still have not seen the voided charge on my credit card statement being replaced with the new charge.
The food was tasty, if only the service had been more attentive. It was slow to the table, as though we had been forgotten. Still, on the whole, a good meal. Nice enough given the selection in the area.
I brought a group of friends here for my birthday. It took us an hour to get our food. They came back twice to tell us they didn't have what we ordered. When we finally did get our food, one of the orders was wrong. I gave us a two hour window to eat because we had a show to catch and the meal that was wrong took so much longer, we had to request the check and she didn't have time to eat it and had to take it to go. No compensation of any kind was offered. For the amount of money we spent, there is no way I would ever recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointing.
Seated quickly. Great booth. Waiter’s presence was sparse, but food was excellent.
This is my family’s Favorite restaurant，steak is very delicious. Every month we will come 2-3 times
I ordered the wedge salad followed by the short ribs of beef. I found my meal good, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the bread is always the same, a small circular loaf of black bread.
We love this restaurant for its’ inmate dining. Hard to find anywhere else, high back booths where it’s quiet and cozy, and still affordable for an evening meal.
Unfortunately, this night was not one of our better experiences at Sunnyvale's Black Angus. The short rib special, while tasty, was very oily. The 8 oz prime rib is my "go to" yet this one seemed really small compared to previous visits. The au jus had no flavor at all. My broccoil was pretty overcooked...our plates may have sat a little longer than they should have before reaching us. Our server was running here, there, and everywhere.
All steaks in our order were poorly prepared; NONE were prepared at the cooking level ordered; One of the steaks had to be returned, which had a guest wait the entire dinner, while the others finished, before the guest could even begin his meal; The meals were "slapped" together in a hurry, with the vegetables looking dead and the Fillet Mignon tasteless; The dessert, which we ordered to go and only opened after we got home was less than the regular portion I have had many times before; Service was poor - bread and condiments had to be asked for before brought to the table; Not once did the waiter come to inquire about our meal; Not once did the waiter offer more bread; Waiter was only interested in recommending items that costed extra and none of his recommendations were prepared well; Several service staff ate their dinner on an adjoining table at 9 PM, while we were still eating; It was a first occasion at a Black Angus for my guests, so not only was I completely embarrassed, but also will NEVER patronize this location and probably this brand in the future; I have eaten on many occasions for over 20 years at the Black Angus location in Burbank, CA, and have never experienced such third-grade service and/or sub-standard quality food before; It is no wonder that the Sunnyvale location was not bustling on a Saturday night, with many of the tables vacant at 7:25PM.
