Black Angus Steakhouse - San Diego Friars Rd. Ratings and Reviews
My family and I love BlackAngus for the good food at very reasonable prices; and feel that they have the best booths for comfort and privacy. However, we also notice that they haven’t kept up to date on their decor, especially the rest rooms. Time for an overhaul, please don’t change the menu!
I expected it to be much more of a steak house. The steaks were thin and cheap. I could have went to outback and received better. The sides were small, I think I had maybe 4 pieces of broccoli on my plate. this was my second time there, only because I forgot how poor my first experience was. I would not return for a free meal. this does not live up to having the title of "steakhouse".
Made a special reservation for Valentine's day and 36th birthday.
Reservation was scheduled for 730pm we arrived ten minutes!!
We did not get seated until 8:58
Ok no worries it's a major holiday.
We place our order server brings my beverage right away my wife did not receive her beverage for 20 minutes ok again we are trying to enjoy our self and it's a busy night (Valentine's day) no worries we press on after being seated for over a hour our food has yet arrived. I started to notice other tables that have arrived after us are eating there meals...
Wife says to me am I not special ?
Ok (not good) !!
I very nice to the server and try to figure out why we are not getting service I ask mam when you bring my wife her glass of wine can you also bring me a glass of water ....I get this look like I'm a hassle.....wow
Now the romance and enjoyment of our night is fading fast as my wife is getting very frustrated.....food finally arrived one hour and forty five minutes later the portions were very small we ate our over priced small portion special occasion dinner in one tenth of the time it took to receive it.
Now steak was tasty and cooked very well so I guess it wasn't a complete loss.
Unfortunately for the value and service I will not recommend to anyone or don't see any reason to ever go through that experience again.
Very unfortunate as a cattle rancher from the Midwest I prefer to only eat guilty beef not very good choices in the area to satisfy my diet .
I expected a far better experience than what we received.
Sorry sorry sorry is all I heard from the staff . I don't complain about situation they were very aware of what was happening and yet no action was delivered to make us feel as valued customer...
I give this establishment and our experience a 0-1star rating
I always enjoy the Campfire Feast For 2, with the Wagon Wheel Sampler. The steak was perfect to my taste. It is an abundant meal with a great dessert to share. My wife and I look forward to opportunities to take advantage of the deal. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
Went to dinner for my husband’s birthday. This restaurant is one of our go-to places for special occasions because it never disappoints. This time was no different. The service is always amazing starting when we check in. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious
Overall was pretty good. Server Anthony seemed to be a person relatively new to table serving. He did not seem comfortable with the friendly interaction so often experienced in a Bulls Eye booth. We did not notice until we got home that he did not return our discount lunch card. We often meet our senior friends at this restaurant and this will not affect our desire to keep coming. We will get another card the next time.
We love the separate booths. Makes you feel special, away from distraction. Our server Christin is great. We love for her to serve us. We are willing to wait as long as she becomes available. The food is delicious and well cook according to how we like it (steaks) Umm, the crab legs were scrumptious!!! We will be back.
I've always like the Black Angus. The steaks are always good, better than most every day restaurants and sometimes better than nice restaurants that aren't steak houses. There is always too much food, a nice variety of choices from good seafood to girthy steaks and lots of veggies to choose from.
The steak soup was definitely too salty, but everything else was good.
Server was excellent. We always enjoy eating at the Black Angus. The walls are high around each table giving the feeling you are alone. It is so quiet so it was very enjoyable being able to talk to the person on the other side of the table. Most restaurants play very loud music which makes me just want to leave. Server was excellent. Sorry I did not get his name.
We have been to this Black Angus before and enjoyed the food and service ; this Monday 1/8/18 for some reason Lunch was unusually busy we were glad we had reservations had nowhere to go. The service and food were good as usual , lunch just took a little long than normal .
I was taking a friend out for a long overdue special celebration. We wanted prime rib but have been disappointed in the prime rib at other restaurants in the area. We ordered the 1 lb cut and it was wonderful. Cooked to perfection. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal at this location. I also love the fact that you can carry on a conversation with your guests. Most restaurants are too noisy these days. Hats off to the management at Friars Road!
Black Angus Friars Road San Diego has been one of our favorites for many years now. Always GREAT SERVICE and tasty steaks, fish, entrees, desserts and cocktails! If you enjoy wine, bring your own bottle with you, corkage is only $10 per bottle. Highly recommend this BA location for lunch or dinner!!!
Reservations save long waits. Friendly, inviting reception and wait staff. Efficient, accurate order taking and delivery. Our waitress graciously suggested drink, appetizer and dinner selections. She also assisted with dessert decisions! Food was served hot and as requested (Medium rare & Medium). The new fresh fruit drink spritzer options are delicious! We’ll be back!
Christmas Eve dinner not as I had hoped. Tried of the fancy dressy places we usually go we decided to take grandpa to his favorite spot. 6:45 reservations and still waited 30 minutes. I expected that as it’s a holiday. I did not expect to be seated in the bar and at a table ment for 4 ( we were 5). When we asked the hostess if we could please be seated in the main dining room she rudely told us that they are seating the bar as part of the dining room. Well it isn’t. She said if we wanted to wait an unknown time we could do that. Sick of waiting so we stayed at crowded table with TVs playing.
Atmosphere very disappointing.
Food as always was plenty and good. Service started great but between appetizers being cleared and mains arriving took almost 30 minutes. Seemed like server forgot about us. All in all this trip was just Ok
Party of 4. Christmas Eve dinner. No crowd. Seemed like skeleton crew. One muffin sized bread for four people? Good selection of sides. Ribs good. Tri tip cooked to order, still tough. Ribeye steak, cooked to order, poor taste. Half of it taken home and still sitting in fridge (12/27). Prime rib, well it started out as a 8oz cut on one side and angle cut to something lighter on the finish side. The tableware knives were pretty dull, we were literally tearing into our meat. I should have brought my sharpening stone. We had eaten at Outback a couple weeks before and will say their prime rib was the real deal. Not here. Will not recommend Black Angus Friars Rd.
