Black Angus Steakhouse - Northridge Ratings and Reviews
The steaks were much better today than the last time I was here. And, the baked potato was perfect. The new cauliflower appetizer was underwhelming - the sauce had a good flavor, the breading was rather thick, and I could not have known it was cauliflower -- the breading and sauce drowned out the cauliflower. I suppose for people who don't like veggies, this is a good thing, but for those of us who do, this was more like eating fried dough with sauce. I didn't realize it was going to be deep fried. We went with a coupon for two entrees, one appetizer and one dessert, and even with the coupon our bill for two, including two glasses of wine, was between $80 and 90. (There were 'up charges' for the kind of steak, and a salad for one of the sides. Somehow a coupon for $45 turned into $85!)
Busy as always on a Saturday evening, but they honored our reservation within about five minutes, so no complaints there.
Food is very good, well prepared, tasty and not over salted or over spiced -- good job!
Our waiter was always a bit late but seemed to be trying his best; seems too many tables per wait person for a crowded Saturday evening and the way the floor plan is laid out, it can be a long trip from some tables to the kitchen for food or the bar for drinks, so lots of extra steps.
Overall a pleasant experience and we'll return.
Went there for my bday. Party of 7. Used open table app to make reservations available within 15mins of arrival. Waitress was friendly. We ordered 3 campfire dinners and we're actually full before the main course. We order steak nachos, fried zucchinis, and artichoke dip (all fabulous appetizers). The deal also included desserts and I also got my complimentary cookie and ice cream bday treat! The prime ribs were on the thin side but cooked to order. It was a great experience!
Sitting in the Bulls Eye Bar is best for Service and food both were great. Online reservations rock! Thank you for that as the boneheads that work there take them via phone and then don’t have them when you show up. Overall great and we love the online email specials keep sending them.
Im very very upset, a great place to eat. My wife and I got so sick but my bro and his, wife fine, my two kids were o.k. but the steak I had was terrible, the mignon. My wife with terrible shrimp it was awful the steak was very dry. We got sick upset stomach. I paid 170 dollars for everyone which was fine and I'm very sad. I have the receipt and would appreciate for a portion of the refund that we didn't enjoy at all. Never mind. I also paid 30 dollars tip as the waitress was good. The appetizer was very salty. I really don't understand this place anymore. I used to go there a lot. Loved it.. I need to speak with the manager if any. Paul
This used to be my go-to favorite for family steak night. Now, all the food is salty, and the fried foods were mushy. The wait staff appears to be trying their best, but the wrong food was delivered to our table, and my wife's salad arrived after the entree was half-eaten.
While waiting for my table, I watched two different patrons bring complaints to the Manager. In both cases he could have acknowledged their complaint and smoothed it over with a small concession. Instead, in both cases, he made it clear that the customer was complicit (never a good approach, and certainly not applicable), claimed that all he could do was "bring the issue to Corporate office attention on Monday", and left both customers unhappy.
Not only was he completely ineffectual as a manager, why would he hold these conversations in the reception area in front of all the other customers waiting for a table? It made me uncomfortable to know the other customers were having issues, and then angry when he failed to make it right with something as small as a free dessert.
Bottom line, I'll be driving an extra mile to eat my next steak at Claim Jumper or Wood Ranch.
Nothing but problems here.
Gave them chance after chance after chance.
Came for my birthday meal and the server placed my order wrong despite me pointing at the item on the menu while ordering.
You'd think they'd put a rush on fixing the issue by making my correct order quickly but it took literally 20 minutes to get my fixed order.
The manager came over with the order and an attitude and asked me if I wanted to cut my steak open to make sure it was cooked properly.
I informed him that the problem had nothing to do with the way the steak was cooked and that the order was wrong. (I'm guessing the server didn't tell him the real reason the order was returned).
Meanwhile my friend was pretty much completely done with his meal by the time mine came.
I was not happy and the server knew it.
After that the service just got worse as we were almost all but ignored for the rest of the "experience."
Asked for a drink refill and it literally took 10 minutes.
Waiting to order desert, another 10 minutes to get the attention of the server.
Waiting to request the check after finishing, another 10 to 15 minutes.
This is it, my last time coming here.
I hope that Black Angus reads this and checks my ticket to see how long we were there.
Not sure if it will show the details of the debacle but I'm sure it will show the time, we must have been there for an hour and a half, and it wasn't by choice.
We've been here several times and today was not typical.
1. The table was dirty and the menu had food smeared on it. The wait person said she'd clean the table, but had to be reminded before it got taken care of.
2. The wrong size drink was served. We told the wait person. She said she'd correct the bill. We got the bill and it wasn't corrected. She then said she had to talk to the manager. 15-20 minutes later, and after yet another reminder, we got the adjusted bill.
3. The restaurant is adding 3% to bills due to the increased minimum wage. I support the increase in minimum wage, but I wonder if 3% isn't padding this cost, which they are passing on to the customer (which I wouldn't mind if I knew it was JUST the increase for the minimum wage workers).
4. The service was REALLY slow. REALLY slow!
We are pretty regular at Black Angus not just on special day. During this visit, we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter asked if we are celebrating a special day and we told him yes for birthday. I was disappointed that we saw the waiters giving bday cakes to the other tables but not ours. I don’t want to tell the waiter again because I don’t want to look pity for a cake. I was very disappointed that they failed to celebrate the bday with us.
Our birthday celebration had a little hickup as the waitress totally forgot that it was a birthday celebration and then charged us for the dessert that should have been on the house, but the manager apologized and gave me a gift card to make up for the error. Thank you, Black Angus!
We chose Black Angus for a dinner with friends from Santa Monica. Our Open Table reservation resulted in virtually no wait despite several people in the lobby. The food was excellent as was the service. My friend and I particularly enjoyed their private label ale. Our friends commented how enjoyable and delicious the meal was and said it was worth the drive for them.
Haven't been here in years, but it was a birthday celebration so decided to try it again. Food was really good, service was good, only disappointment was no birthday dessert, especially after hearing at least 7 other birthday celebrations going on around us. Our waitress knew it was a birthday dinner, but at the end of our meal just asked if we would like dessert, that was it, no special anything.
