Black Angus Steakhouse - Northridge Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I very much enjoyed our dining experience. The host was helpful. Reservations were easy to make and fulfilled promptly. Our waiter was excellent and friendly and helpful in answering questions. The food was also good. A solid place to have a nice mid-priced evening out.
we had to wait almost an hour for our table... I was really looking forward to a nice turkey dinner but due to inadequate planning there wasn't enough turkey to last the night and I had to settle for a prime rib dinner that was barely adequate. The restaurant ran out of Mac and cheese and decided for my wife what her side should be and gave her mashed potatoes with out asking what she wanted as a replacement. The manager gave us credit for my wife's meal but that's not always a solution.. Won't be dining here again.
We usually enjoy this restaurant very much. Thanksgiving was a nightmare. Despite calling and emailing us to confirm that our reservation was at 7:15pm, we weren’t seated until after 8:00pm. The major problem was they grossly overbooked the restaurant. When we proceeded to order, the waitress informed us that they had run out of turkey on Thanksgiving. The service was also very poor. Finally we gave up and left.
Because this was Thanksgiving and it was pretty crazy, the restaurant gets a pass, this time. We've been to this one many times over the last 30 years, but this time they seemed totally unprepared for the crowd. They were 1 hour late on seating, even with reservations, and they ran out of turkey at 7 pm! Additionally, the dinners that we eventually were served were well below satisfactory, but the manager at least comped us when we complained about everything.
WE HAVE EATEN DINNER'S HERE BEFORE AND LOVED THEM...THIS TIME, NOT TOO MUCH. WE USUALLY ORDER FROM THE REG. MENU AND THIS TIME IT WAS THANKSGIVING...THEY ARE JUST NOT EQUIPPED TO PREPARE THE TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING MEAL...THE PORTION WAS SMALL, THE BROCOLLI UNDERCOOKED, THE CRANBERRY SAUCE TOO RUNNY...AND IT WASN'T VERY HOT WHEN RECEIVED AT TABLE. THEY WERE OVERBOOKED AND WE ARRIVED A LITTLE EARLY FOR OUR 6PM RESERVATION..OUR NAME WAS CALLED AT 6:45PM TO BE SEATED. WE WILL NOT DO THIS NEXT YEAR...HOWEVER, WE DO LOVE THE DINNER'S WE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST..PRIME RIB, SALMON ETC. SO, WE WILL RETURN FOR A NON HOLIDAY MEAL :~)
Reservations for 3 @ 6pm on Thanksgiving. Black Angus Northridge CA. All was confirmed thru restaurant & Open Table. Arrived to no parking, & so overbooked that you couldn't get past the angry crowd to the front podium. You had to force your way inside. Was told at least an hour wait before seating. My 92 year old father needless to say was angry, craving a big steak. Seeing how disgruntled the waiting crowd was , we made a few emergency calls & found MORTON'S steakhouse could accommodate us right away. We cancelled our reservation & drove over & had a fantastic filet mignon dinner there. Extremely disappointed that we wasted time & effort to pre arrange the meal only to be bumped & no apology of any kind.
Understandably, the restaurant can't kick out those still enjoying, however perhaps a phone call
to advise us of the extreme delay. They had my # from confirming prior. Have had other bad service experiences here. Recommend avoid dining here from 5-9pm daily. The staff cannot handle the size of the establishment.
The food & service was good as usual. Your reservation system needs new thinking on very busy nights like Thanksgiving etc. You need to limit the number of reservations so that your patrons do not have to wait over an hour to be seated. You lost a lot of customers that didn't want to wait that long. So please rethink & make adjustments to you reservation system now so that won't continue ! My party & I almost gave up the wait but stuck it out this time. Love your restaurant, it is one of our fav's but not for long if this keeps up ! Burce B
Had 4:45 reservations, checked in at 4:30, told there was a 30 minute delay, seated at 5:45. They seem to have no logistical control of their reservation system. A party of 3 that checked in after I checked in, without reservations, was seated before me. I will not use open table again, I’ll just call the restaurant direct and make sure I have a back up plan.
On a brighter note, the food was awesome.
there was a long wait even with a reservation. we checked in 10 minutes early and was told it would be a 45 minute wait after our reservation time. when we were seated the serving staff was good. we ordered and got our salad/soup. then after we were finished our salad/soup it took another 30 minutes for your food to come. I notified the manager. thats crazy to wait that long for your food, when the staff should be making things quick to turn over tables.
Had reservation for 3:15, arrived 3pm....seated at 4:15 and I’m on crutches. Waiter only present to take order and at end of meal. Meal delivered before salads...refused. Photo ad 5 slices white meat...we got 1 and 90% chunks of dark...fine I like dark but why don’t they photograph that?? Had to ask for bread twice....arrived after main course. Given appetizer with no plates or silverware. Asked for hot tea cream/sugar got honey/lemon....took two more requests...tea got cold.
Very disappointed, had a reservation for 3pm on Thanksgiving and they told me they were 20-30 minutes behind when I checked in. It took 50 minutes for them to seat us. So my 91 yr old Dad & husband with a bad back had to sit on a brick wall out front in the heat. The food was good once we finally got it. Would never go there for Thanksgiving again.
We went for the Thanksgiving turkey dinner. I am glad we had reservations because the place was jam packed. We had to wait for about a half hour even with the reservation. The food was good except the dark meat turkey was not very good. It was gristly and hard to eat. Everything else was very good.
We had a thanksgiving day reservation and the restaurant was running behind schedule. We would have minded waiting our turn except for people who came in after us and had a reservation after us were taken immediately because they knew the server. That really ruined our experience.
The steaks were much better today than the last time I was here. And, the baked potato was perfect. The new cauliflower appetizer was underwhelming - the sauce had a good flavor, the breading was rather thick, and I could not have known it was cauliflower -- the breading and sauce drowned out the cauliflower. I suppose for people who don't like veggies, this is a good thing, but for those of us who do, this was more like eating fried dough with sauce. I didn't realize it was going to be deep fried. We went with a coupon for two entrees, one appetizer and one dessert, and even with the coupon our bill for two, including two glasses of wine, was between $80 and 90. (There were 'up charges' for the kind of steak, and a salad for one of the sides. Somehow a coupon for $45 turned into $85!)
Busy as always on a Saturday evening, but they honored our reservation within about five minutes, so no complaints there.
Food is very good, well prepared, tasty and not over salted or over spiced -- good job!
Our waiter was always a bit late but seemed to be trying his best; seems too many tables per wait person for a crowded Saturday evening and the way the floor plan is laid out, it can be a long trip from some tables to the kitchen for food or the bar for drinks, so lots of extra steps.
Overall a pleasant experience and we'll return.
