Black Angus Steakhouse - Lakewood Ratings and Reviews
We were seated right away. The waiter came to our table took appetizer order and drink order. We received our drinks. He then came back and took our dinner order. We kept waiting for our appetizer order. He refilled our drinks. My husband's salad came and still no appetizer. My husband's salad was warm and he sent it back. A colder, fresher salad arrived, and still no appetizer. Finally, about 30 minutes after ordering our appetizer we received it. Very slow service which is unusual for this restaurant.
We sat in the bar area and had a great server. She was friendly and attentive. The food was great and prepared correctly. The young lady even had us cut our steaks before she left to make sure they were prepared to our liking. First time ever for that. We were extremely satisfied!
I had a reservation for 5 p.m. We didn't get seated until 20 minutes later. What is the point of making a reservation if it is not going to be honored? It was my birthday and I chose this place. It is not my fault that I was born during the holiday season.
The waitress was warm and friendly. I wanted to prime rib and it was delicious. The baked potato was okay. The broccoli two stalks were okay as well.
I didn't have dessert, because I had cake waiting for me at home.
As always, Black Angus is consisted. The food is good but the service makes the place! Fast, nice - above and beyond. We couldn't find a coupon that wasn't expired but yet they gave us the coupon price. Black Angus is a must eat when you just don't feel like cooking!
My friend did not like her Old Fashion drink. They offered to re-do it, but she figured they didn't know how to make a basic cocktail... and was disappointed. It took forever for us to get drinks. Salad was good... but my friend pointed out that it used to have carrots and cucumbers... just grass, but the Italian dressing good and her ranch was good she said as well. Prime rib wasn't bad, but had a lot of fat. She didn't say much about her salmon. The cheese bread was not cut properly, so we were tugging at it to get a piece. The cheesecake came to us hard as a rock. Frozen. They didn't take my plates away until the dessert came. Not sure why. We were tired at that point of all the mishaps, split the bill and escaped.
When we checked in were seated within 5 minutes of Our 6 PM reservation. We were a party of four and the first booth We were taken to was for a much larger group. We rejected that. The next table was also for a larger group and only had chairs likely for a party that has wheelchairs. On the third try we were taken to a booth for four of which we saw at least 6 available.
Our party enjoyed the food. Each meal was as ordered and prepared perfectly. Service was good, but we were disappointed that even though a note saying it was my mother's 90th Birthday was part of our Open table reservation it was missed and I had to tell our waiter. This in spite of opening a few presents as our orders were taken. He then asked if we wanted theteam to sing happy birthday or do it ourselves. We did it ourselves. The complementary desert with a candle was really good.
All our previous experiences at this restaurant have been more positive so this might have just been an off night.
We like Black Angus because of the good food and value. Although the past two times my son and I had a bad experience with the steaks we ordered. Previously his Filet was butterflied and was tasteless. I always order the prime rib and this time there was more fat and gristle than meat.
We went last night and the same thing with his NY. There were many tendons he couldn't cut through . For the prime rib I told the server that I had a problem also with the fat on the prime rib and he said he would fix it. He brought me the best prime rib and was very content with it.
I think the servers try to do the best they can even if they are really busy like last night.
Plus the campfire for two is a very good reason to visit.
Someone from the restaurant called me 10min before my reservation to tell me that the reataurant was closed for the evening and I had 5 minutes to find a restaurant for my family to meet at - this was for thanksgiving and I didn’t think I needed a back up plan.
The gentleman who called was very polite. I love black angus and would always recommend it to someone but this time it was just weird of them to say they were closed all of a sudden.
As we approached the door@5:15 on Thanksgiving Day & my birthday, a sign was being taped to the door that they were closing due to plumbing
problems. Was told to go to another Black Angus & they’ll get us in ASAP. Not likely. Would not consider giving us any compensation for the inconvenience. Very poor PR.
Can you imagine getting dinner for 8 at another restaurant at this late hour.
Went to OpenTable & was able to find & make a reservation for half hour later. Thank you OpenTable!!
We drove from San Diego to visit someone in the area so we reserved a table at this restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. Got there on time and waited to be called. Fifteen minutes later, we were told the all reservations had to be canceled due to plumbing issues. Of all days! We realize it was unavoidable but the timing of it was really bad. They told us to go to the nearest Black Angus which is 30 minutes away for priority seating but we didn’t want to drive that far. Since most of the restaurants were closed that night, we ended up getting something to eat at 7-11. What a night it was!
We went to Black Angus for the 4th year in a row for Thanksgiving dinner and will return next year, also. This restaurant knows how to do it right!!! With a reservation, you are seated within 5-10 minutes of your reserved time, servers are there quickly to assist with every step of service. You get to enjoy your meal without being hurried, yet they move people through efficiently. I get to enjoy a full traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner whereas my husband, who doesn't care for turkey, has a delicious prime rib cut and he's ecstatic. Thanks so much for providing us with this option on Thanksgiving!!
It was Thanksgiving and we had a reservation for 3 at 4pm. We were seated almost perfectly on time and had an excellent server! I could not believe how well the meal went considering how crazy busy it was. This experience started a new Thanksgiving tradition of us eating there from now on. Thanks so much!
Food was good for the value, but the service was horrible. Went there to celebrate a birthday and the. Service was soooooooo slow. We almost died of thirst as it took 30 minutes to get a refill of water after asking 2 different people. Then after we paid, we waited another 35 minutes for our dessert to be boxed up. Should of only been then for about 90 minutes, but because of our MIA waitress we were there almost 3 hours.....dont know if we will be back for seconds:(
