Black Angus Steakhouse - Goodyear Ratings and Reviews
This was a Valentine's Day event that included a first time date. We had reservations for 6:30pm, but got there early to enjoy a glass of wine, during Happy Hour, prior to enjoying dinner. Once seated at the bar, we asked what the house Cabernet was, and was told there was no Happy Hour on Valentine's Day, since it was a holiday. When questioned about which holiday, we were informed that it was Valentine's Day. Not in my short term of life on this planet have I ever heard of Valentine's Day as being a holiday. When asked, I was told, some people consider it a holiday banks and Post Offices are closed on holidays. They are not closed on Valentine's Day. So, the bottom line, they stopped serving Happy Hour drink prices, knowing the restaurant would be full of people celebrating Valentine's Day, and able to charge regular prices to increase their bottom line for the day. Very poor customer consideration. Will probably not go there for any special occasion since it might be labeled a HOLIDAY.
Our food was good, our server, Tamara, was excellent.
Even with the good food and service, left with a bad taste in our mouth!
Ordered Prime Rib, served Ribeye complete with grille marks and told me it was a Prime Rib. Did not honor the published menu pricing on wine. Just a Bad overall experience on a special day. Very disappointed about the whole evening. Will never go back, EVER!
Black Angus restaurants have been one of our most favorite eating establishments over the past 30 plus years. We now frequent Black Angus Goodyear fairly often since last year when we moved to Goodyear. Roy was our waiter this past Wednesday, & we were well pleased with his service. He made sure we had a continuous supply of water in our glasses, and the overall service of our orders was handled in a timely & efficient manner. I will say, he also was well tipped for his service which we were more than happy to do. On our next evening at Black Angus Goodyear, we would trust we might once again have him assist us with our order.
The steak was good, the sides were luke warm where the server was pleasant the service was slow to where she felt she had to apologize for delay in us receiving our food.. We were seated very close to reservation time. 5:47pm Our server arrived at our table at 5:58pm for our drink order. When we received our dessert we asked for our check and my card was siped at 7:16pm. Yes that doesn't seem too bad but we were still eating.
Our waitress was excellent. However, we would not consider this restaurant as a “special occasion “ dining experience. Our anniversary was never even mentioned. We were seated in between the bar and the restrooms which made for a lot of traffic. Our jumbo shrimp appetizer was comical, small shrimp at best. Just an okay night out. We will probably make another date at a different restaurant and try again.
We used the on line reservations and the wait was minimal. Our waiter, Ivan, was fabulous and the food was superb. We had the campfire meal for two. The appetizer assortment, the fried zucchini was wonderful. I had the filet, grilled to perfection (medium rare), the broccoli (mmm!), and au gratin potatoes. He had the ribs, which were fall off the bone, loaded baked potato and the broccoli. One of our favorite places.
I was happy to see that the popularity of this location was still outstanding. I made a reservation by chance and was glad I had since the wait time was 45 minutes to an hour for a table. The food was delicious and the service was polite and timely. Keep up the great work and thank you for making a wonderful and memorable evening with my family.
A Little confusion on the menu regarding dinner feast for two. We thought we were each getting steak and prawns. The prawns we got didn’t equal what was advertised and our filet was small and not med rare as ordered. Our friends ordered the feast and received a full rack of ribs and a large ribeye. The portions were huge compared to what we were served. This was a disappointing evening where we were celebrating my 77th birthday! We have celebrated birthdays frequently at Black Angus, here in AZ and So CA. The Whittier CA restaurant surpasses our expectations.
Ordered the Lobster & Prime Rib combo for ~$35. This included two sides. I selected a salad for appetizer and a green beans for an side with dinner. All the food was good, if not exceptional. Pretty good value for what I got, but I would prefer to pay a little more for an exceptional meal.
Always a great place to eat and relax with friends or on a date. Great place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries . Food is very good and the steaks are always cooked to my order. The desserts are very good especially the orange chocolate cake. Service was very good
Not a great experience. We had a reservation. We got there 5 minutes before or scheduled time. I let them know about the reservation and they said they were getting our table ready. 20 minutes later, and after several other couples were seated, I reminded then about our reservation and was promptly taken back to a booth. It was as if they simply forgot I checked in.
The food was the next big disappointment. My wife and I both ordered our steak medium. After waiting for a long time, the steaks finally came out (with the wrong sides). The steaks were well done. My ribeye was like jerky! I will never eat there again, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.
My wife and I dined at Black Angus because we heard some good reviews from our friends. Initially we were reluctant because it's a chain. We've now dined there two times. It's clear the manager, Alice Weaver, operates a very good restaurant. We received very good service from our server both times. Our server was Jhlyah (pronounced Leia). She also has a great smile.
The center cut Filet is great. So are their speciality ribs. The Caesar salad is very good as well, not too much dressing. They also have some very good deserts.
Very enjoyable evening.
Always a great place for fine dining and a special occasion, also great for a casual lunch , they make the best bacon cheeseburger in the city! We always do the campfire feast for a special night out and you can’t go wrong with the fillet minion!!!! Our server this time was Amanda and she was WONDERFUL!!
We had a reservation for 7. Got to our table at 7:06 and didn’t have a waitress until 7:23 and our drinks didn’t arrive until 7:37. Then two of us ordered filets one well done came red and one medium well came really red. We sent them back. When they were refired one was fine and the other went back a second time. When it came back it was finally ok but was served with mashed potatoes and not a baked potato as was ordered. No condiments were offered to my son who ordered a burger and therefore he didn’t eat it as he wanted ketchup. If all of this wasn’t enough when I made the reservation I noted it was a Birthday. Not one single mention of the Bday or acknowledgement of it. How disappointing. Poor service, poor food, and no attention to the special occasion. For the money and the occasion very disappointed.
My parents got us a gift certificate cause they love this restaurant... she said they have an awesome meal for 2 for $42 ... well apparently on Jan the prices were all raised cause the meal was $59 ..., then I wanted a salad (they just changed to the nasty spring mix) our waitress told us to order the wedge salad (BUT didn’t inform us that was EXTRA $$$) so we were hit with that surprise on the bill .... we also had to pay $3 per person extra for ribeye (not worth the price upgrade) .., and I paid extra for the nastiest asparagus (Tasted like a cigarette 🤢🤢🤢) it was horrible!!! .... we drank water .... and twice sat for over 10 min with completely empty glasses chewing ice because waitress wasn’t in site.... so needless to say ... horrible service , mediocre food and it was $75 before tip .... there wasn’t even a soul by the door as we left to even make a comment too!!! I could get a better steak at Chili’s and two can eat for $20 there .... I would never recommend a friend to go and be deserted by waitstaff or have horrible food and the atmosphere itself wasn’t worth the price!!
We reserved a table for our anniversary on New Years Eve, the table we were sat at was a very small booth diagonally across from the kitchen entrance for the waitstaff, it was less than romantic. The restaurant was very loud and this seating location only amplified that fact as there were constant people coming and going.
The service was fantastic, I made the reservation for 5pm and 2 of my attendees did not show up for an hour and 15 min. The waiters was patient, understanding and made sure she checked on us through our wait time. The food was very good; however, I order the Prime Rib and two lobster tails and the Prime Rib had a lot of fat on it; so I did not eat a lot of it. Moreover, the lobster was fantastic and all other orders were perfect!
My special occasion was for our mother's gift for Christmas and beside the fact that my mother and sister were and hour and 15 minutes late (no fault to you), the night was a success with great food and company!
