Black Angus Steakhouse - Fountain Valley Ratings and Reviews
Service was good, and waiter very friendly, but food was cold, and “hot” tea was even served at room temperature. Request for second cup of “hot” tea resulted in likewise being served cold. Chicken was undercooked, and vegetables were hard.
Won’t be returning to this particular Black Angus again.
Everything was perfect! From the time we arrived, everyone was very accommodating. We had dinner reservations and arrived early for drinks. Set us up in a bar booth instead, let us have a few drinks and brought us a delicious dinner. Service and food was great and it was New Years Eve!!!!
Every NYE my husband and I go there with friends to celebrate. Always great service and delicious food. They take reservations and coupons on NYE. We always get the Campfire Feast for two. Includes appetizer, choice of entree (we always get Prime Rib) and dessert for $45. Highly recommend.
Waitress, although new, was outstanding; helpful at all times. Because it was Christmas Eve, restaurant is totally busy. Last year we went to the same restaurant 30 minutes later and food wasn't terrific. This time we chose 6:00pm, and we were right; great food selection. It is highly recommended to reserve in advance, which we did (last year as well as this year). It isn't that they start running out of food, but you aren't going to get the right doneness, if you are ordering prime rib; last year we wanted medium rare, and got well done and last year they still couldn't get it right. Great job this year!
I wish I could remember our waiter's name, but unfortunately, I do not. But he was the best waiter we have had, anywhere, for a very long time. He was friendly, very efficient, and attentive. Thank you for helping make our dinner a great night out. As usual, our food was excellent.
Food was good. Service so-so. I feel when you are dining at a steakhouse and order a salad, it should be automatic that you are offered fresh ground pepper. Disappointed that sparkling apple cider not available for my son for the second time we are here celebrating a special occasion. Seems odd that a restaurant with a full bar would not carry. Ordered Brussels sprouts as a premium side with extra cost. Not sure why these would cost more than a baked potato, especially due to the very small serving. They were way undercooked and hard as rocks. Had waitress remove off our check. She was nice enough to offer a complimentary deaert.
Our server, Autumn, was very cordial, polite and very friendly. She was there checking if everything was Ok with our food. It was a birthday celebration and she made the celebrant very happy as well as the rest of the of the group. Autumn was exceptional. She was awesome.
We went to Black Angus for their trio dinner - top sirloin, shrimp & lobster. We had the trio on a previous visit to BA & thought we’d go back for another. The old saying, “you can’t go home” applies to BA - if this had been our first Trio dinner, it would have been our last.
Surprisingly I was delivered a filet mignon that did not look like a filet and it had gristle and was well done. The server had it replaced. The second one was medium as ordered but it also looked like no other filet I've ever had and it also had gristle. Both pieces were rather thin and had cuts on one side. I intended to stop i nand speak to the manager but perhaps he will see this.
Our server Claude is indeed one of the best at this location. He was handling multiple tables but yet make every effort to come to our table to see if he can get anything else for us. Black Angus now has baby back ribs on the campfire menu which is a plus. Delicious tender and very tasty.
The restaurant was mostly empty but we were non the less seated next to the kitchen ( noisy ). The salad consisted mostly of harsh greens ( no lettuce ), a couple grape tomatoes, and a few croutons. I had a steak ( good ) and a baked potato ( barely warm ). My wife had shrimp ( over cooked ) and a baked potato ( barely warm ). A disappointing meal at best and not what we are accustomed to at this restaurant.
We visited on Thanksgiving. Although we didn't want a turkey dinner, they informed the table next to us that they had run out of turkey and prime rib as well. Bad planning on their part.
My husband and I both ordered sirloin steak, his was very tender and looked much larger than mine. My steak was borderline tough...the server offered to have another cooked for me, but I didn't want to wait, so I ate it as is. My husband had to send his baked potato soup back twice because it was brought out very cool.
Normally, I would give this neighborhood restaurant a good review, but they dropped the ball on this holiday evening.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. An excellent choice. Nice , relaxing dining room , very good service and low noise level considering the crowd (busiest day of the year for them). Wasn't our first choice as we go here quite a bit and wanted something a little fancier for Thanksgiving but next year we are coming back for sure. Couldn't have been better
We were dispointed with the Thanksgiving dinner. The mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes were chunky and not very warm. The sweet potatoes looked like undercooked carrots. There was hardly any stuffing. Very little gravy was on the turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. The stuffing was dry. The cranberry consisted of about a one teaspoon serving. I don't remember the food being that bad in past years.
We had our Thanksgining dinner at Black Angus & you impressed us with service, quality & quantity of a full turkey dinner from salad to Pumpkin pie. Kudos for making the meal so close to homemade that we will be back next Thanksgivings for sure, and sooner for your regular menu.
This was our first Thanksgiving dinner away from home and the experience at the Black Angus certainly met our expectations. The place was packed but everyone was in the holiday spirit and the short wait for our table was pleasant. Connie was our server and even though she was extremely busy, she made time to make us feel comfortable. We all ordered the turkey meal and the food was excellent. Everything was fresh and good tasting. We will definitely go back next year. Be sure to make a reservation as the wait was long if you didn't have one.
