Black Angus Steakhouse - Fountain Valley Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was good - not great, but our server, Ashley, was. The steaks were a bit tough & not much flavor. We had the trio - steak, shrimp & lobster. The piece of lobster was a good serving - the shrimp was deep-fried a bit too much. My Caesar salad was fabulous - very crisp with a very cold fork.
Not what it used to be years ago. Plates are boring. They don't even give you vegetables unless you pick it as one of your sides. Soup and salad is not offered with your meal unless you pick it as one of your sides. Overpriced and not very good. Service was poor
I have been coming to the Fountain Valley Black Angus since 1981. You use to have dancing in the bar area. My wife and I came there for date night before we got married. We have dinner there about every other month. We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary at your restaurant on November 12th. I am going to be celebrating one of my daughters birthday on November 18th. I tried for reservations for 6:00PM for 8 people but you had none so I had to change it to 7:30PM. I realize you don't have that many areas to handle big parties.
The food is always good and it is reasonable with your specials.
Our server, Claud, is the most efficient male server we have had in a long time. Very personable and quite apologetic that my steak was not prepared to my liking the first time. Got it taken care of quickly. The Manager himself came over to apologize and gave us a mascapone flavored cheesecake on the house. The food is always great at Black Angus. Steaks & pork chops are cooked to perfection every time. We will keep coming back because of the quality of the food, the service and price.
Normally good place, but our visit was not normal. Appetizer took forever (got two apologies from servers) and what should have been sizzling was lukewarm. Main course was also not hot, next night I fixed that and it was then good. Worst visit there ever. Will give them one more shot after going there since the place was first built - many years ago. Shame.
My husband and I have been going to the fountain valley location for 7 years now. We go every other Saturday for our "date night". Although we didn't for 6 yrs we now always make reservations (due to the online convenience) and are seated right away when we arrive no matter how busy they are. We only had one bad experience and that was when we vered off our usual seating choice and sat in the bar to watch a Ducks hockey game. Everything went wrong (service and food). However the manager came over per our request and was very apologetic and said he would look into the training of his staff so it didn't happen again. He gave us a $25.00 gift card which we thought was extremely nice. Otherwise we always sit in the restaurant area and try to sit in Melissa's section. She is amazing at everything!!! We always leave extremely satisfied and get excited when we know it's Black Angus night. Great job!!
As far as the food goes, the chicken teriyaki and top sirloin steak with blue cheese-bacon butter were very tasty as was the loaded baked potato soup. Just slightly disappointed that it was my birthday and I had an email coupon for a birthday meal, but I couldn't redeem it on BA's current steak/lobster/shrimp deal. Also, they used to bring a warm chocolate chip cookie for the birthday celebrant but apparently no longer do that. That's why I rated it 4 stars overall instead of 5. I still would recommend BA to friends and relatives. The food is great.
My wife and I love the burger so we both had it. I ordered mine medium and my wife ordered hers well done. Both came well done. I had to send it back since it was very dry. However, they rectified it when they brought a medium cooked burger which was terrific. The only other issue was that the ladies in the booth across from us were extremely loud. There was one in particular who did not seem to understand how to control her voice level. Other than that, I would highly recommend Black Angus.
As a regular customer i was very happy my son decided to take me to dinner for my nirthday. Everything was as usual great, welcomed, seated at the reservation time, server appeared and orders taken. I ordered the 14 oz New York. It was cooked perfect to order med rare. However the steak was terrible, tough and in no way resembled a new york strip. My son works in a butcher shop and we are knowlegable about steak. I would say the cut of meat served resembled a cheap sirloin in shape , taste and grain. Being it was a birthday dinner and my son hates confrontation, i did not complain. It though will definitely affect our returning to the Black Angus.
My food was cooked as requested and was delicious. Unfortunately my significant other requested his filet "moo-rare." When he cut his filet it was grisly and tough! When asked by our waitress he stated the problem and all she did was say she was sorry then walked away. My significant other called her back and said he wasn't eating his filet especially when it costs. He showed her the meat and then she said if he would put it on the bread dish so she could show the manager. Later she stated that the manager apologized and he would be getting another filet, which he did.
The music level was a little loud because the waitress couldn't hear us and my significant other stated the music should be turned down because he couldn't hear either.
Thanks to open table reservation. We were promptly seated. Also greeted by our server Kendra with a "Happy Anniversary" knowing that is how we made our reservation with open table. The Quality of the food that we ordered was excellent. Freshly served and the presentation was obvious that the Restaurant cared about our dining pleasure. I usually order steak and in our previous visits before we were never disappointed. True that it has been awhile for us to visit a Black Angus Restaurant and will be visiting more often. My prime rib medium rare was very good. the color of the meat is how I would expect it to look. If served what I would say as properly. I have had other restaurants serve medium rare more like it was medium well. My wife and I both had Prime Rib and in her case not being able to get an end cut. Her cut was nicely browned with a special touch and to her desire. Our lobster tails were awesome.
