Black Angus Steakhouse - Federal Way Ratings and Reviews
We were disappointed on the brochure for Veteran's Day special. It was hard to read the time table allowed for Veteran's meals. (Both of us are a veteran.) We felt it was deceptive. Some of the food we ordered was cold when we received it. Server was great. He did not keep interrupting our meal like the last one did. He kept an eye on us for when we needed something and was there when we needed him. He is an asset to Black Angus.
The steaks are best described as somewhere in between the quality of a place like Ruth's Chris or John Howie's and the value of an Applebee's. I would never recommend this place as a high end steakhouse, but it's certainly a decent value. Our steaks were juicy and good cuts of beef, though somewhat lacking in flavor. As a general rule, if a steakhouse offers steak sauce when delivering your steak, that's typically not a good sign for the flavor. The sides were unimpressive, I thought. I had the mashed potatoes (very dry and very tasteless) and the broccoli (not much you can do to broccoli). If you're looking for a quiet date spot, this isn't really it. While the decor would suggest it's a romantic restaurant, it has quite a few families with kids eating there which doesn't lend itself to a quiet atmosphere. (I have kids myself, so this isn't a criticism, I'm just stating that if I were looking to get away from the noise of loud kiddo's, this wouldn't be my first choice). The service was quite slow, honestly. Our server was pleasant and kind, but by the time she made it to our table, we had been there for almost ten minutes. By the time we received our drinks, our appetizer had come out. I heard other tables complaining about cold food. I'm not sure if they were short staffed, but something was a bit off. All in all, this place isn't at all bad. The appetizer was delicious, the white chocolate bread pudding was phenomenal, and the steaks were cooked perfectly per our request. It's a good value, especially with a coupon.
Good vibe, great food and drinks. Overwhelmed server made for a less than awesome experience. Server was overloaded and thus forgetful... Perhaps fewer tables per server at high traffic time would help. Some servers idle, some overrun.
Don't get me wrong, GREAT food and I would/will recommend the restaurant to others.
Burger was very good. Fall promo meal; deep fried shrimp nothing special; small lobster was ok; at least 1 of 3 sirloin steaks was awful. Could not cut thru, appeared to be end of the cut of meat which was fatty and like elastic. All the other food was good.
I swear the prices go up and the size of the steak & salmon keep getting smaller, I realize prices rise but the portion should stay the same. I personally would be ashamed to serve steaks/salmon the size they are serving for Lunch. on a positive note they do a great job of cooking the little guys............
Went there for my adult son's 40th birthday, which I told the hostess as we were seated. Only one waitress was working our area, which was not busy. Ordered beverages, which were delivered promptly by waitress. We were then asked for our selections for lunch. We ordered from both the lunch and dinner menu. It took about 20 minutes for app to be delivered by a man who appeared to be the manager. After we finished the appetizer my son asked if we were would be getting bread, as the other table had gotten. Waitress looked confused and said she must have forgotten & brought us 2 loaves. We then waited for another 15 to 20 minutes for our meal to be served. Our meals were delivered by 2 people who appeared to be someone's grandparents. They were kind and professional, but it seemed strange. During our meal it was never busy, with maybe 3 to 4 tables occupied. One couple who was there before us waited so long for their meal that they told them they were leaving and the waitress offered to box up their meal for them to eat as a to go order. I have never experienced such poor service from this restaurant. The meal was over $135.00 for 4 people with no alcoholic beverages ordered. We did mention my son's birthday and were told we could get a warmed cookie & ice cream for him, which he asked for to go. If I'm not mistaken, we were also charged for the cookie.
Normally this place is pretty good. But over the past year the quality has gone downhill. This latest experience was utterly terrible. The food was poorly prepared. Appetizers: Sampler Platter. Shrimp over cooked and really hard, as were the potatoe skins, zucchini was great but buffalo bites had some liquid seasoning sauce pretty gross. Our sirloin steaks (and I understand this is not some nice steak house) were like little dried pieces of shoe. My teenager could have cooked a better steak.
Really sad because I liked this place and have had good service and food in the past. Just seems like it doesn’t exist much anymore.
Also, the lighting...normally it’s dim but lit creating a nice dinner ambience. Not this night, bright as hell to the point we had to squint and our baby couldn’t rest even covered up.
We came in to your Federal Way location on Sat night to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We were seated rapidly and service was very fast and correct. Atmosphere was nice and layout was comfortable. Food was perfect and , using a coupon, was a really great value. Server was Cornelious and he was top notch. Helpful, knowledgeable and a really nice guy. Restrooms were clean and sanitary.
Only down side was staff seemed rushed and somewhat scattered when it came to extras (sour cream/extra butter/ limes for drinks/ etc) Had to ask several times. Other than that, experience was top notch.
I arrived early and sat in the bar waiting for our table for 7 to be prepared. I had a drink and waited about half an hour. I was shown to the table where I discovered the table laid out for my party of seven. The problem was after waiting for the table I discovered that the table was never washed down. There was clearly food residue in multiple areas. This was totally unacceptable. My son and I picked up the place settings and asked for the table to be cleaned. The "cleaning" was more like a redistribution of residue, so I used one of the napkins provided to wipe the table down again before laying back out all the place settings.
Later, while eating dinner, my 5 year old grandson dropped a crayon under the table. I went to retrieve it and was thoroughly discussed by the food chunks left on the carpet from previous dinners. I knew the food garbage did not come from our meal by the contents left.
We were comped for a couple desserts, which was nice but not enough to mitigate our experience.
We like Black Angus a lot, we dine there often. But this time our experience was a bit unsatisfactory. Probably because there was a football game that day, the food was O.K. When we asked for medium for the steak, it came out raw. We also missed a side on one of our orders. The waitress didn't come by to ask us if we needed anything and didn't give us more bread when we asked for it.
Steak and green beans! Steak was perfect and the green beans (shhh bacon) were delish... cheated a little with the salad dressing but hey, special occasion. Water with lemon made for the perfect pairing. The non-keto members of our party enjoyed the loaded baked potato and the carrot cake.
I ordered a Bloody Mary ,it was very good. The drink was served in a tall glass with a stalk of celery that was five inches taller than the rim of the glass, there was no side plate to remove it and no straw added we had to ask for it. Also this Wa a real shock, our poor waitress had to walk the whole restaurant to find a bottle of 57 sauce, the one she found only had about a quarter inch left, she appoligised and we laughed ...I sent this suppose to be a stake house.
We had Ceaser salad as a side,we had to send it back because the lettuce was the same temp.as the room, the dressing was chilled but romaine was not cold. The seat cushion in our semi cycle
Booth was ripped with a big hole,l went to get up placed my hand on the seat and my fingers
Ran up the hole and caught, one more thing we had to laugh about,
Maybe it's time for a restaurant make over.Stakes were good service was very good
We went at a very busy time (6:30 Sunday night) The waitress was very busy so it was no surprise we had to wait longer than usual. We asked for a few things that were forgotten until after we were done eating dinner (bread, drink refills to name the main items) The steak was unusually tough.
We had a good meal. The meat was a little under cooked. Portions were good. Thank you for the birthday dinner.
I would recommend that for the birthday dessert that you give a choice of what a person can have. I am diabetic & the cowboy cookie was way too sweet & under cooked.
I would have been happy with a scoop of ice cream or a sugar free dessert.
Our waitress was too sweet and anoying. She called my 72 year old dad young man repeatedly. He finally said I am not a young man do not call me that. She also called us all sweety. The food was excellent and out in a timely manor. But once again the waitstaff was a bit sub par. This is the second time we had a bad wait staff.
I've been coming to this Black Angus for many years ...... since it opened actually !!!!! The food is always good ...... The restaurant is clean ..... The servers are always very nice ...... Love the Western Decore ......
We've Always had good service but this time it was exceptional... our server Shannon was very good her timing for bringing the food out was ...perfect never felt rushed and her ability to listen to our special requests were all wonderful Definitely will request her next time
Sincerely Barb Donahue
The food was good.the waiter was friendly but very overworked to give good service.
We had a party of 6 and 5 dinners delivered were correct and my daughter's was not what she ordered. She had to wait an xtra 20 min to get hers
He apologized as did the manager.he entered it in the computer wrong.
We all got a cookie for our trouble.
Ridiculous. Money talks , not many apologys.
