Black Angus Steakhouse - Citrus Heights Ratings and Reviews
We ordered the Feast. We had a coupon and with a coupon it was probably worth the value. But I would not order it for $59. The salmon was small and very dry. The prime rib was cut extremely thin and not the 8 oz. I was expecting. I would probably try chicken or the New York steak next time. Other than that, ambiance and service was great.
I have already reviewed Black Angus many times. A group of 6 of us had reservations for a 5:30 dinner on New Year's Eve. We were seated timely. There was a large crowd. Service was good and the wait staff was attentive. We shared the Feast coupons, which gave us a discount. We all liked our entrees. The steaks and salmon were all cooked as we wanted. I didn't really like the vinagrette on my salad. We enjoyed our cocktails. We are all Black Angus fans. They seem to be pretty consistent with food quality and service.
Unlike previous visits this one was most disappointing. Went early in the evening to celebrate New Year’s Eve before restaurant was busy. Shortly after ordering another waiter dropped off our appetizer, fried zucchini, and they were lukewarm. When our waitress came back we ordered a different appetizer which came back as ordered. Then when the main course came one of the entrées was good but the other was not hot. Was given credit on bill for it and given a replacement to take home. Dessert was good. All of our concerns were addressed. We will return, however, if this was out first visit there we would not go back.
I don't remember this one being as good as it was. Hadn't been there in years and was pleasantly surprised. The steaks were tender and flavorful. The sides were great. I do remember that BA has the best bread and blue cheese dressing. Everyone was happy with their choice/s.
Black Angus is one of the last good steakhouses from the golden era of family restaurants that were popular in the 70’s and 80’s. Not too many of them remain, but it is always a nice trip down memory lane to dine at the Citrus Heights location. The steaks still have that nice char grilled flavor. The salads are hit and miss. Baked potato was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Plenty of food at a good price, not cheap but manageable if you are on a budget. The server was young but very attentive and anticipatory to our needs. Overall, a very pleasant Christmas Eve dinner out.
We decided to eat at Black Angus because we receive great service and the food is always delicious. But, for Christmas Eve, 2017, service was really bad. We were seated and it took 15 minutes before anyone asked us for any beverages. Our waitress was very forgetful bringing us bread, water, and steak sauce, after we repeatedly asked for them. My son never got his water. It took awhile to get our dessert and the check. We love Black Angus and usually we always have the greatest service. The food is delicious, but we may wait for a month or so before we go back. Other times we go it’s much busier than Christmas Eve was.
My birthday dinner was a train wreck. We made reservations so no problem being seated but then it was about 15 minutes before our server even acknowledged us. Dinner came out right after soup and salads were served (which took a long time to get, probably why dinner was served on top of the soup and salad), one dinner was incorrect, the prime rib was extremely fatty and tough (I know prime rib is usually fatty but there was hardly any edible meat and you couldn't cut through it). We had to ask our server for EVERYTHING and sometimes he brought it and sometimes he never did. And even when he did, it was a long wait for every item, which makes dining with a 3 year old very challenging. Empty glasses meant nothing, we had to flag him down and ask for more. Never did get the second helping of bread we asked for. Our 3 year old's dinner was supposed to come with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles. We had to ask for his dessert after my birthday dessert was served. Twenty minutes later it came, with no chocolate syrup or sprinkles. The server forgot to take off the birthday coupon for which I had previously given him the code off my phone. When we pointed it out, he left to fix it then came back a while later to ask for the code again, then finally returned with the correct check after ten minutes or so.
Usually been a good spot for dinner.
Wife usually has Filet and I have Filet and Lobster. They only have small twin tails anymore;a huge disappointment and the price increased by $7. The meat was just so-so. Had to send one steak back.......The service was the same. Our last few visits were similar.
I’ve been frequenting Black Angus since I worked for them in the late 70’s. It appears they’re just trying to survive. Less value is a slippery slope. I wish them luck. It’s been a solid “go to” for many years.
I had reservations for 4:45p.m. and arrived late due to getting lost. When searching for reservations I put Folsom CA as a parameter. Black Angus was an option on my search so I booked the reservation. I traveled from Sacto to Folsom CA then back tracked to Citrus Heights to arrived at 4:56p.m. and the hostess upon my check in immediately informed me that I was late. I notified her that we were lost and backtracked over 10 miles (This is a conservative estimate, felt like much more I came from Folsom Blvd. and HWY50 then surface street to Greenback to Black Angus) to find the restaurant. She informed us to step aside and wait. We waited approximately 15 minutes before being seated at approximately 5:10p.m. There were other customers waiting to be seated when we arrived, however, the dining room was not full and many tables were cleaned and empty. It has been many years since I ate at Black Angus and I had fond memories, so I was looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately, from my arrival reception to the the dark and somber atmosphere and mediocre meal; I was not impressed nor can I recommend this place. On a high note, the waitress we had was very courteous, friendly and efficient. She was attentive, timely in taking our orders, and checking in on us. I give her a gold star. I just wished I experienced her service at another restaurant.
We come here often for weekend dining, birthdays, get togethers and special occasions. This is a reliable place to come to get good service and good basic food at reasonable prices. We take advantage of the coupons when we eat here. We also like that the staff seats the disabled and senior citizens who are handicapped in some fashion close by where they do not have to walk or go very far when seated. Often, we take an elderly parent with us and staff is always alert to the seating of this person. Sometimes, even with a reservation, it is crowded and we have to wait but even then, the wait is not that long. Reservations are recommended especially on major holidays and busy weekend nights.
We used to go here because the seating in the taller booths in the back of the restaurant were nice and quiet so we could talk to each other plus the food was good. The last couple of times we have been there we can't seem to get seated where we like even though we make reservations and ask for it. They try putting us in the bar, near the kitchen, or up front somewhere. Plus the food has changed - filets are not as tender, the shrimp used to be large and cut in a butterfly style but now they are small. The fried zucchini with the cucumber sauce is still great and the main reason we keep returning. The food is good but less worth the cost than it used to be. Having a coupon helps the cost. We try going back to see if things change back toward the better but since it doesn't we have gone there less and less each year.
We came to treat a group that helped us move to a new rental home. We were seated in a corner booth, quite snug for 7 adults. Food was good, a bit slow on service, our waitress had many tables. Misquoted on price of sampler appetizer. $12 then $16.99. We purchased two samplers anyway. Weren't told addtl $1 on caesar salads. All in all is was an ok experience. Spent close to $250. Not sure it was quite worth it.
We were very disappointed because your web site touts a free steak on your birthday. Jesse joined Prime Club, There were signs of no coupon needed for cookie dessert or steak. We got to the restaurant and they said a coupon was needed. We explained it was his birthday and they said, the coupon would be good for the 'next' birthday - 2018. In the mail the next morning there was a coupon for the steak to be used no later than 1/5/2018!! Well, we already bought the steak and since Jesse attends college, it is unlikely we will get him in to you before the deadline. We feel cheated.
My only complaint is I made reservations and still waited 30 minutes. In there defense it was Thanksgiving. I just thought the ladies at the hostess station could have been a little better at customer service. Overall it was really good food and the waiters and waitresses were amazing!
We were there for Thanksgiving/Avvniversary. Very busy. Our waitress was friendly.
Could have have a little more food. Our salads had no carrot or cabbage as usual. Their salads are usually the best!!!
But it was Thanksgiving and we were lucky to get a reservation!!
We have been eating here over 40 years and will be back.
The food was good. We had reservations but still had to wait. The salad was just lettuce and dressing. Disappointing! Very crowded and service was not up to normal, however we got our food quickly. Bread and silverware were not quick. We did get bread but had to wait for silverware and had to ask for bread plates.
Had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Black Angus. Had a 15 minute wait from our reservation time, but so did everyone else. The place was packed. We had a nice quiet table and a server who was very nice and friendly. Our turkey dinner was good, but looked like it had been kept warm in an oven (gravy was congealed). Our dinner was just barely warm in spots and when we mentioned it to the server, the chef came to our table and took the plates and brought new about 5 minutes later (which were better). The pumpkin pie was not good. Tasted like it had been previously frozen and thawed. The dinner wasn't grandma's, but it was good.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving. We were seated after only waiting a few minutes. The food was outstanding, but the service was even better. Very often while dining out on a busy holiday I've seen staff look frazzled and unhappy. These staff members were happy and attentive despite having other customers complaining about the wait. They made me feel like they were happy to be there serving us. It was a wonderful experience and I will do it again. Thank you for such a nice holiday, Black Angus!!!
