Black Angus Steakhouse - Bakersfield Ratings and Reviews
We came to celebrate my wife's birthday and stated this when we made the reservation. Unfortunately, the staff did not acknowledge it though we saw other customers being sung to. My wife left the restaurant feeling very sad and hurt because was not done for her. This does not influence me to go to a place that ruined her birthday celebration.
Seated as soon as I walked in, but waited 10 minutes and no one came by the table even though there were servers rushing back and forth constantly. Finally stopped one and asked if there was a server assigned to my table. She said she didn't know, but that she could take care of me. She took my food and drink order and I asked her to send the manager over. I saw her talking to him from across the restaurant, but he walked away and never came to see me. The server in question, Shyann, stepped in and did a terrific job even though it wasn't her table She got my beer quickly and checked back on me constantly.
The manager however apparently couldn't be bothered to take the time to come see me. When she brought the check, I mentioned that I never saw the manager and she said she would ask him again. A few minutes later he showed up with a jovial "How are you doing?". Very obvious that this is a guy who thinks that problems will go away if he ignores them. Tried to tell me that he thought one of the other managers had talked to me. After a short discussion, he ate the check, but I didn't walk in looking for a free meal. Shyann did a wonderful job and earned a very nice tip.
Food was good, but not sure I'll be back...
The staff was excellent. We were originally seated on the floor, which was extremely noisy, I asked if we could be moved up to a quieter location. The hostess stated that there were other reservations and said she would check to see if the locations could be switched, she quickly returned and moved us up to the quieter area. This was wonderful since we were there with friends and were then able to hold a nice conversation! I greatly appreciated the hospitality!
Our waitress told me that if I ordered my prime rib medium it would be brown around the edges and pinkish in the middle. It came completely well done plus it was an end cut. Second problem my soup wasn't delivered at all and my companions chili wasn't delivered at all, we had to ask about both and they were happy to put it in a to go container. Third problem I presented the waitress at the start of the order a coupon for a free appetizer. That was fine but she didn't reduce our bill by its amount and I had to point that out also. Just seemed like she wasn't really on her A game. She was nice as could be just made several mistakes which is bothersome to me because if I go out I want to receive a pretty high level of attention to detail. One last problem my mom was brought her birthday dessert but when brought it she said there wasn't any other servers available to sing to her. But we heard another table having a nice song by the staff. 🙁🙁
Ridiculous. The waitress took forever. They were not packed. She forgot our appitizer. She got BOTH our entrees wrong. And she added mushroom blue sauce on my mignon. The man who brought out our food didnt care and was rude and walked off WHILE my husband was talking. It took us and hour and a half just to recieve soup. She charged me a kids meal from a different ticket. Brought out 2 TINY gross lobster tails after we finished our entrees. (They were supposed to be included in the entree. (Since our lobster was also forgotten) couldnt get any refills. Asked for a straw 4 times. And then when it was FINALLY OVER all she did was offer a dessert. When we decided what we wanted we had to wait 20 mins to order it. Then we sat and waited another 20 for the dessert that never came. She continued to walk by us and help other people. She blamed the kitchen staff for forgetting our appitizer and entree lobsters. None of which was on the origional reciept. So no, she didnt put the order in at all. Which was why we were there for 2 hours when no one else was there. 80$ for a wasted date night. Which is rare that we even got one and it was completely ruined. Couldnt even get our appitizer to go (couldnt eat it cus it came out same time as entrees) and couldnt get a box to take it. Waste of money. :/ very irritated and no one there seemed to care.
The wait, even after making a reservation, was ridiculous. I arrived 10 minutes early to my reservation @ 6:15 pm, but were not seated until 7 pm. Other people without reservation were seated first. I asked to confirm they did not have reservations. Food was excellent, like it always is.

Could not locate coupon for a free dessert, so paid full price. Dined in the bar. Ordered prime rib with lobster tails from regular menu. Lobster was delicious. Prime rib a little rare, but ok.
It was REALLY busy, I'm so glad we had a reservation. We were seated very quickly, however we had to take a table instead of a booth and the table was so small once the appetizers were on the table there was no room for anything else. To add insult to injury, they seated a party of 3 at the (larger) booth we wanted (there were 4 of us). We even had a reservation, and since we walked in after them and were seated before them I don't believe they did.
The food was really, really good, but because they were so busy it took quite a while to get it. They were apologetic, and kept our glasses filled. Great job by the waitress. Overall, a pretty good experience. We will go back, though not likely at such a busy time.
The medium rare file was cooked to perfection and was very tender. The salad was a bit overdressed and the baked potato was warm, not hot. However, the real issue I have with the Black Angus is the ambiance, or lack of same. This was a special dinner, but it felt more like a coffee shop or cafeteria because it was so bright. Dimming the lights would really make a difference.
Great service and food. We arrived early for our 6 reservation and were taken right away to a booth in the bar. Attentive server a little warm in the bar but it was very hot outside! Our food arrived in a timely fashion and was very good. Meeting old friends from out of town and we were not rushed to leave our table but our server refilled our drinks no allowed us time to visit. Great place to eat anytime and for any occasion.
We came in for steak dinner and ordered one with lobster-steaks both were not very good-mine was overlooked and my husband's filet was tough - we got two tiny lobster tails instead of the larger one that was supposed to come with the filet and they were also over cooked - no explanation from waitress as to why we were not receiving what we ordered-service was very slow- salad and bread were good but only two tiny tomatoes on salad-very disappointing!
