Black Angus Steakhouse - Arrowhead Ratings and Reviews
We are always treated so well when we are there. We go quite often and every time we go we are made to feel special. It was Valentines Day and it was quite busy. Our waitress was so friendly. Met us with a great smile. You would never know she was running around trying to keep up yhecisce. She was amazing. We never had to wait for anything.
I have a burning question to ask re time reserved and time of check in.There were a lot of us having 6:15 pm reservation.I took note of our check in time as well as people I knew had the same reservation time checking in after we checked in.Guess what
somebody was called that checked in after us with same reservation of 6:15 pm.I was not a happy camper. So what is the protocol re this matter?Just curious so I know what to expect in the future.
The bar was a stand up type with very poor environment. To wait for a table in the bar is not a good option. Only 6 chairs and they were taken up with people eating dinner????
The food was fair and the price was a little high, and not an acknowledgment of our anniversary
We used to go to black Angus several years ago and it was a treat, but this was not a treat or was it special. We only go out about 4 times a year and we want it to be special.
Per web-site and sign on wall "Happy Hour all day Tuesday". Not so! We were charged full price for our drinks. When we questioned the Happy Hour price we were told that was in the bar only--this was not stated on the web-site or wall sign. If we had asked for Happy Hour price
the waitress indicated we would have gotten it, however, she didn't adjust our check. Food and service was great.
Greeted warmly and seated. Waitress introduced herself and came back shortly. Ordered a glass of wine and then told Happy Hour is only in the bar. Brought out our salads and after we had finished I told the waitress to cancel the wine and she said it was sitting on the bar. She then brought it over. The Prime Rib my wife ordered "Medium" was too rare and then she brought another cut which was satisfactory although it was difficult to get the horseradish which was to accompany it. New York Steak which was ordered Medium was very well done. To be fair I was not charged for the wine. The bottom line is the waitress had too many tables, and was inexperienced.
I had great hopes that I would finally get a decent steak, like the 1970's Stewart Anderson's Black Angus, but no! Drinks were small and over priced, my top sirloin was really awful. 50 year old milk cow! My wife's filet was not top quality either. Baked potato was good and so was salad. Won't be back. It's the same everywhere now --- for the past 15 years or more. We don't dine out much anymore. This was a last ditch attempt at finding a decent steak house. Terrible steaks and puny overpriced drinks. We used to dine out weekly, but those days are now over for good.
The Black Angus has been our go-to place for celebrating birthdays and our anniversary. The food is always excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable, with the exception of the liquor prices ($9.00 for a Margarita, $8.00 for a glass of wine that sells for $6.99 a bottle at Total Wines).
Usually the staff are super friendly and interact with you to make the event special. This time, I think our waiter really didn't want to be there. He complained that he'd been screwed on table assignments, disappeared for periods of time, little conversation/interaction. All in all it was a disappointing evening. May have to look elsewhere the next time.
We came for my husband's birthday. The staff sang for him :) & gave him a chocolate chip cookie & ice cream. His steak was cooked to perfection. My salmon was also excellent. Service was good as well. We did have to wait for about 10 minutes even w/a reservation, but the wait was an hour or so w/o one, so it was fine. It was quite crowded, even at 5:00 pm, thus, getting around w/a disability is really hard. I'm not sure how they'd accommodate a wheelchair. We were in the rear of the restaurant, I suspect wheelchairs & walkers would have to be accommodated closer to the front. If you have a child w/a good appetite, skip the kids' menu. If you're blind, there is no Braille menu, so try to study the menu online beforehand. They do have a gluten-free menu, however, that includes a flourless tort for dessert. Nice touch! They didn't offer that to Hubby as a freeby, though, & he needed it. So the grandson got the chocolate chip cookie & the rest of us ate the gf cake we brought in, which they permitted. The staff was friendly & eager to please. All in all, it was a good experience.
Using OpenTable for our reservation was nearly effortless and easily edited when we needed to change the time. We were thrilled to be able to make a reservation as many restaurants don’t accept reservations and especially because the line was out the door shortly after our arrival. We’re longtime Black Angus aficionados because they are so coupon friendly and help you celebrate birthdays.
Sorry to say, but the service was a sore point during this visit. The food was good, but the server was way too stressed and rushed and just lacked in table side manner, I don't know if the restaurant was just way understaffed at the time, didn't seem too busy, but our server was running and working up a sweat. We didn't even get refills on our drinks. He did bring us three loafs of bread, which was appreciated and after telling me that I had been there often enough to KNOW that you don't have Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb or sweet tea (I didn't remember that at all, and who is he to tell me that?), anyway, he offered raspberry tea or mango tea, I chose the latter and found it too tart, so he did exchange it for the raspberry tea. Also, out of my group, I'm the only one working and when I asked for the check since I had to get back to work, he said he was trying to work too! He DID then bring me my check first and I paid first and managed to get back to the office only 10 minutes late. Anyway, we (my group of ladies) did enjoy the atmosphere and the food, but no extra points for the service... sorry. This is the first time I've been there with this ladies group, but I have been there often with family and service has never been such an issue before.... hopefully just a rare bad day.
Excellent meal - cold, crispy, tasty salad, perfectly cooked steaks and ribs. Nice touch to have the chef deliver our meals and tell each person what was on the place and how the meat was co0oked. Server was timely but not intrusive. No noise level issue for us. Great time catching up with our old friends. Wine by the glass might be a touch pricey.
We went on New Year’s Eve and restaurant was very crowded. We had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation to get seated but considering how busy restaurant was, that wasn’t too long. Food and service were excellent even though it was obvious server was swamped. Restaurant was a good choice for New Years.
Food here is usually up to snuff, served at proper temperature, good service. Noise level is generally better than average because of high, padded booths that help absorb sound. Last time we were in, there was a large, loud group next to us that was obviously celebrating an event, repeatedly toasting & singing. We couldn't hear our own conversation over these folks, so that distracted from our enjoyment. But this restaurant still provides a generally good dining experience.
