Food and service were outstanding! The waiter suggested the garlic shrimp appetizer and it was amazing! Chateaubriand for 2 was perfect for us!

We were excited to check out this restaurant. Arrived and were asked if we wanted to go to the rooftop or stay on the main floor restaurant. We choose the rooftop. Great ambiance & service. The tables were small and close but we did like being seated by the beautiful huge fireplace. The menu was limited and somewhat confusing, and It was physically very large & awkward took up most of the table. Maccaroni & Cheese appetizer was good but not mind blowing, we also had a Brie cheese and nut dip with bread, but they only gave you three small pieces of bread to go with it. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin and it came with a small amount of smoked potatoes salad. Salad was extra? He ordered it medium rare and it came very rare. I ordered kebab with prawns, lobster, and filet, was charged 2$ extra to substitute a green salad for the potato one and it was soggy & bitter. The steak was ordered medium and it came a medium rare. It may sound odd but it was difficult to chew, very slippery. We could have sent it but honestly just wanted to experience the restaurant as is. The lobster seemed over cooked , the prawns and both seafood was on the rubbery side. It’s not that the food was inedible, but for the price I was expecting to be blown away. Very little spice or flavour I feel we could have cooked it better ourselves at home. Although the ambiance was awesome the food quality was just not there. I left almost all of my steak and the waitress did not notice nor mention it. My husband did as well and usually we are clean the plate kind of people. Perhaps the downstairs restaurant may have had a better menu kitchen, but other than just drinks we would not return to this restaurant.

Stunning restaurant and the appies were incredible. However, my husband ordered the ribeye.... JUST the ribeye was $70. Nothing else included. He said it was chewy and very bland.

My steak Diane was ok. I've had better. The filet was literally two little scraps of meat. I added a lobster tail and it would have been so much better if it was just steamed. It was in a very rich sauce which totally took away any and all flavor of the naturally sweet lobster.

All in all, we wouldn't go back.... not for those prices.

After placing my reservation 5 days before the actual date, I was very disappointed to find my date and I sitting at a tiny table right next to the bar. This usually isn't a big deal to me but it was a special occasion for me and my date and we could barely fit our shared platter on the table. On another note the people sitting at the bar were extremely voicestress. This made for an unpleasant start to my first experience at Black and Blue. After 3 other tables complained, the people from the bar were asked to leave and everyone was very greatful. The only other comment I will make is that the service was not up to par for a $375 dollar meal for 2 people. By midway through the night we had a second server/manager assisting our first server because she was never to be seen. Overall a very satisfactory first experience at Black and Blue :(

Our server was Dianne you could totally tell she loved her job and where she worked. Dianne made our dinner even more special with her wonderful giggle and personality. The food is always incredible and amazing

I decided to take my wife here for her Birthday before we went to watch Motown. This was our first time here. What an absolute treat!
Our server Marecel was a true pro. He took such good care of us. His explainations of the different cuts of steak and recommendations were spot on.
We had oysters and wagyu beef carpaccio to start, both of which were insanely good.
For mains we chose Beef tenderloin. Our sides were french fries and roasted carrots. The roasted heirloom carrots were out of this world. I could have made a meal out of them alone. The peppercorn sauce was the perfect compliment to our steaks. Perfectly cooked and fantastic flavors!
This was hands down one of the best meals Ive had in Vancouver.
The bar also looked like a great place to hangout and have some apps after work or with friends.
Thank you again Marcel and the staff or Black & Blue. We will be back!

Beautiful decor. We enjoyed a booth. I would not want to be at a table beside a booth as it did not look cozy. The food was delicious except the prime rib was a bit fatty. Our server was very friendly

I would not recommend coming to Black&Blue for their Dine Out menu. The appetizers were ok. Their strip loin was pretty much borderline warm/cold. By the time you have a couple of bites, your food would be cold. I would not come back.

we ate here once before and it was amazing. Love the happy hour entree specials and inexpensive drinks.

We decided to go back on "dine out Vancouver" $40 per plate special. Quality of the steak was poor. but I have to say Service was amazing.

Participating in Dine out Vancouver did not do this restaurant any justice to show case quality.

I will go back again but not if it is a $40 plate special....

Positive: The food was excellent! The chef has done a great job.

Negative: The service was terrible:
- waitress was noticeably sales-oriented, trying to push the most expensive menu options;
- waitress was careless while preparing caesar salad, aggressively stirring the dressing and claiming that I was in the "splash zone";
- waitress constantly reached over us to re-fill waters in a very indiscreet, clumsy manner
- my red wine arrived after I was half finished my steak; I asked a bus person to follow-up and I simply received an empty wine glass
- the women's restroom was disgraceful: majority of toilets were not flushed/clogged, no drying towels, basket with used towels was overflowing (I informed staff of the problem and waitress blamed patrons for the mess) - the second time using the restroom after 2 hours there was still no improvement! Staff should do a better job ensuring that the restroom is cleaned and stocked.

Unfortunately from these negative experiences, I won't return to or recommend Black & Blue. The service issues and disgusting restroom are unacceptable for a high-end restaurant in my opinion.

It was a disappointing experience. Understand this is dine out event and can't expect much. The dine out last year was so good that we wanted to celebrate my daughter's birthday here this year. The striploin was pretty tasteless. Luckily we added on top of the dine out menu the beef capacio and the Mac n Cheese stick to add some good flare to the meal.....Noticed some servers were more engaging and ours hardly engage with us at all. The lady who walked us to the table was fairly engaging and she found out it was my daughter's birthday...yet she didn't really respond to that nor any staff try to make any effort to make the experience a bit special. The manager went around the tables quickly to check if everything was ok(not everything was great....) I supposed it'd be much better on a regular day/evening or weekend

I wanted my mom to have a good time but it just did not feel like fine dining experience. The food was almost precooked. Maybe the manager changed or the chef but the food was not good. We did not see the value in the food or the service.
