Black & Blue Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic ribeye steak (16oz) split between 2 persons, perfectly cooked. Quite tasty, and we also greatly enjoyed creamed corn on the side, slightly spicy and wonderful. Our server was stellar in preparing a good size Caesar salad tableside to split as well. The only downside of service was failure to replenish water. Great for special occasions.
The food was absolutely stunning. From presentation to the quality, it was superb. I would highly recommend the tableside Caesar Salad as it was definitely a highlight seeing everything made from scratch. I've been to many notable steakhouses and I can say this is one of the few that was able to truly bring out the quality of the tenderloin without overcooking it. I would highly recommend this for a special occasion or if you're trying to impress on a first date.
The only criticism would be that the tables for two upstairs are too small to fit diners back to back and it's not that the diners were obese. The other criticism was the piano player the evening that we were there. He played every piece entirely too fast. He would be great if he just slowed down. Otherwise, I highly recommend.
The meal I had is definitely one of the most delicious and amazing meals I've ever had, kinda wished it never ended.
The Surf n Turf is Totally recommended!!
I come from NZ and we have great food, se haveamazing seafood but this was up there!
If I ever was going to get a last meal request (which I wont), this is on my Top 5 for sure
We went because it was my husband's 50th birthday and he wanted to have a Wagyu Steak. That steak was the best we have ever tasted, and the service was excellent. Thank you to Phil and Natasha for making our night so awesome, from saving a patio table for us, bringing us complimentary champagne and singing Happy Birthday. We have been to some of the best restaurants in Vancouver and this is one of them! We will go again!
The minute we walked we were congratulated on our 5th year anniversary and seated at a very nice quiet table.(as requested at time of reservation) We received a complimentary glass of bubbly a nice surprise. Our waiter Marcel was awesome made sure we always had everything we needed.. The margaritas, oysters, prawns and steak were out of this world delicious. Thank you to Marcel and staff we shall return soon.. Happy hour definitely worth attending ..
Waited a bit for our reservation.... after we were seated every server that came to our table was very apologetic about us having to wait. That in it self is rare these days. The restaurant is very well managed. Food was amazing and everything was served with perfect timing. Oysters were super fresh.
We went here to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was a disappointing experience. I had put in a birthday comment through OpenTable, I called in beforehand to ensure that the restaurant was aware, and I told the hostess who said yes it was in their system. We were on to dessert (paid) and I noticed that the tables around us were getting their complimentary birthday dessert. I couldn't find our server so I told one of the other servers nearby and he said yes, our server was aware of the birthday request . Long story short, I had to ask the server in front of my guest about the birthday dessert and it was packed in a to-go box as we were too tired to wait any longer. Lackluster service although I'm not sure why since the restaurant wasn't very busy on a weekend night. Overall experience and food was disappointing. Won't be coming back.
My husband and I's first visit here. The service was a bit off. Our waiter nicely started out with us but manager took over needlessly as our busy waiter was under control- we never heard about the specials. Table side Caesar salad only for two people not individual so filled up on salad as my husband is not a salad fan. Steaks were very good, although they could have been a little hotter. Mashed potatoes tasty. I got a candle and Happy Birthday on my dessert; however, lady behind my husband got her birthday dessert free but I did not. And we did order a bottle of wine with our meal. Sitting inside would provide a more quiet dinner than by window when window is opened up.
We were celebrating our marriage and the end of honeymoon. The applies were good but then dinner came and it all went south. Steak was way over cooked for me and under for our guest. They took hers and cooked it more and made mine fresh. They gave me the rest of my surf and turf on an appies plate! When I got my steak back it was almost blue. We all ended up eating at different times and they didn't solve the issue properly. We appreciated the free desserts and champagne but it sort of ruined the evening to have our meals separate. They did comp my meal but really we were all impacted. Not sure if it was an off night or what.
Very disapointing birthday dinner for my husband. While the managers tried to fix the situation, i wont go back or recommend. I have bever been disapointed at the Keg
The tonic in my G and T was flat. The manager said someone would run out for a new can. She bought me bubbly so I coukd enjoy a drink with my husband. Never did bring the G and T, waitress brought the wine and when I said, you may as well cancel my G snd T, she said she had! I guess they couldnt find fresh tonic!! My steak was very undercooked for mediun which they agreed and deducted from the bill. My husband's was tough. With all the issues, it made for a very disapointing birthday dinner which still cost $125
The food was amazing, the service was great. We sat on the rooftop patio which was lovely, but we probably should have made our reservation in the dining room as we found it to be too busy on the rooftop as our table was situated in a high-traffic area of servers and guests. Overall great experience.
The cocktails are not well made , the old fashion should have one cube of ice not crushed ice. The dark and stormy tasted purely of lime juice. Overall not a great value for the cocktails. They service and ambiance was great though but I would not order a cocktail from there going forward
