Very good. Great service and Awsome waiter
Super nice !
Everything was great except soups were not warm enough.
The only thing I didn’t appreciate was how cold it was to sit by the door. People kept entering and exiting or holding the door open for their friends... was not the most comfortable being next to it. Wish we had a blanket or just a barrier like the right side of the entrance to block the gust.
Food was amazing. My first steak was really terrible but they gave me a new one & it was melting in my mouth. I guess the first was just a bad cut of meat. Happy with the accommodating style.
The dineout menu: ordered the onion soup, steak. They are great but just a bit too salty.
Also ordered the tableside caesar salad, and beef tartare. They are really really delicious. The crostini tastes soooo good, and even better when I pair it with the beef.
The dessert, Pot Poached Pear Tartlet, is really good. Black & Blue, you have a talented pâtissier and team.
Will definitely come back.
Best steak I have had recently. Will definitely come back
The upgrade for dine-out seems unreasonably high. The service was ok, food presentation was good but inconsistent between 3 of the same entre (missing items). Asked for blue-rare and got a med-rare to rare only. Didn’t want to send one back and have to wait or have the cook to add some ‘extra flavour’ to a re-do. A steak place MUST cook steaks to the correct temp asked.
The worst part was I had an upset stomach afterwards....
Poor service, didn’t offer sour cream bacon etc. for baked potato until we asked, and kept waiting for it; dine out menu a little bit too salty, steak too rare for medium rare
Black & Blue failed tonight on their usually fabulous tender prime rib Sunday dinner. 5 orders of prime rib were tough, hard to chew and not done to requested temperatures. Medium and medium rare were very rare / raw in the middle with the outsides very well done. If the chefs didn’t have any slow roasted prime rib, they should have advised us to order something else rather then serve quickly seared tough beef. Also the meat was very grissly. Did the quality of their meat go down? Replaced with striploin from the Dine Out menu.
Marcel was wonderful . The food was fantastic .
The steak was not cooked med rare. It was very rare. The meat had gristle. The dessert crust was like a hickey puck and tasteless
Poor service; orders forgotten and served at different times. Food only ok, for price level.
I enjoyed this dinner gathering with friends under a comfortable atmosphere , delicious food & hospitality service .
Dear Guest, Thank you for the stars. We are happy to hear we were able to meet your expectations and provide you with the atmosphere, food and hospitality service we strive for. Yours in hospitality, Karen Ramirez Restaurant Manager
Our family with a friend went Dine Out Vancouver in Black & Blue a few days ago and the service is great- the location, the table settings and the environment are all great. The food is great too, the tuna is fresh and displayed pretty nice. The steak is good only one thing we need to mention is the salt on the surface kind of too salty but the medium rare and Chicago rare been present very well. French Onion Soup kind too strong but the Crab stuffed mushroom kind of too light in flavour. Dessert is perfect in sweetness.
Generally its a great experience and satisfied with the food and service. Dine out Vancouver is a good opportunity to try all these great restaurants in Vancouver.
We went for Dine Out Vancouver. The three course meal was absolutely amazing. The French onion soup was the best I’ve had. The first bit of the steak made me know for sure everything I had heard about this place was true. The side veggies were amazing and it came with a nice tartlet for dessert.
The value was amazing with this all costing only $45/ea. Normally it would be more but I’d pay more for the same thing.
Black+Blue was definitely a disappointment, as my partner and I have been looking forward to going there for a while. I would assume that for dine out they would put together a phenomenal menu to be able to attract new diners to their location, however it was not anything close. The starters were okay, nothing better than that, and the mushroom caps had a sauce that tasted very fishy yet bland. The mains were better than the starters, however the tuna dish did not really make very much sense - the tuna was cooked perfectly however the side with it was basically tomato sauces and some sort of beans ( very odd combo). The dessert was okay, better than most store bought flavoured Canadian desserts - but nothing to rave over. We were also sat in the front of the restaurant near the windows - and we think that they actually had the air conditioners on (it was just after snowmagedden in Vancouver so it was freezing outside). All of the service staff were friendly, but unfortunately the food and the freezing dining experience was a disappointment. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone after this experience for dine out.
Dear Vangurl18, Thank you for the review. Very nice place, all the employees from the host to our waiter are very pleasant.very comfortable ambiance
Dear Rich, Thank you for the stars! We hope you join us again soon. Yours in hospitality, Karen Ramirez Restaurant Manager
Good entrees, mediocre appies and dessert on the dineout menu. Host sat us at the worst table possible (maybe because we came late around 15 mins so it was punishment), but thankfully another host was able to move us upstairs. Very lovely host.
Service was quick and left us alone. Did not seem like the staff enjoyed their experience.
Really nice meal and nice service. Surprised us with a birthday cake.
Paying the bill took much too long. But overall, it was good.
Amazing dining experience. We try to get here anytime we are in the area. The beef Wellington is incredible!!!
Great food, great service!
Was our first time at this restaurant and had an overall excellent evening. Happy hour in the lounge was good. Our dinner table server Lisa was fantastic...very knowledgeable, friendly and really made our experience special. Food was great and done to perfection. Feedback for improvement--front door staff. When we arrived, they wanted to clear a table in the lounge for us that was fine but really very few people were up there. 4-5 girls milling about the front desk leaving us waiting longer than necessary. At 6:20 we went to the front desk to remind them we had a reservation at 6pm. Got an apology and all was fine but when giving you a 2 hour window for dinner on busy nights, might want to stay on top of that.
Dear Jackie W, Thank you for the stars and taking the time to write a review. Im happy to read Lisa provided the service we are so proud of, she is an outstanding member of our team.I will pass on your compliments to our culinary team! We take our guests feedback very seriously, I will personally speak to the front desk team and provide coaching notes. We hope you join us again soon! I will like to see monthly featured Chef from notable regions of the world where passion for food is expressed globally.
Just killed it. Great experience :)
We will definitely be back and we are excited to tell our friends about this place.
It’s my Birthday
Had a nice experience with my mom, also great for family reunion.
Always nice food and service but just too noisy.
We were 6 friends (all former waitresses) meeting from all over the globe to share a meal, some drinks and lots of laughs. Our waitress, Emily, was amazing and the food was incredible. When we arrived our table was beside the front door so it was a bit cold. We requested another table. The hostess accommodated us and we were moved to a warm, lovely nook. We could be as loud and crazy as we wanted. An enjoyable evening for all of us. Thank you
Awesome! tasting plates!
We spent more than $600 and didn't get a piece of bread. You have to order everything.
Service was so so.
We wanted to know the difference between Wagyu and Kobe so we order 8oz of Wagyu ribeye and 6oz of Kobe New york striploin.
Was seated at a table right at the edge of the stairs so constantly have people coming past me.
The table was small, but server brought food to the size of the table, so I didn't even have room for my personal plate.
Oh well that’s fine maybe that’s the concept of the restaurant.
Wagyu was fine but Kobe was too greasy.
You can find better restaurant sell same part of meet better price and better option.
It’s just waste of money.
Maybe they doesn't mind customers who only order $600. Other table with a large number of people would cost $1,000 easily
If you are looking for delicious food in a good atmosphere, this is not the place you are looking for.
I'd rather just go to the hotel restaurant get better service.
The steaks that me and my husband ordered were not up to the normal for black and blue. Both came to the table cold and were disappointing, my husband didn’t even finish his
We went here to have an anniversary dinner. The service was fantastic, meal was the best meal we have had in vancouver in a long time and vibe was perfect. Make sure to get the Caesar salad. It was so delicious!!! Our waiter was super helpful too.
I’ve been to many steak houses before but this one is my new favourite. I will absolutely be coming back and next time we will be trying the wagu beef!
Dear VAB1, Thank you for the stars and taking the time to write a review! We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your anniversary dinner with us yesterday. Our Wagyu beef is definitely a must try, its melt in your mouth delicious! We look forward to hosting you again. Yours in hospitality, Karen Ramirez Restaurant Manager
Best Caesar salad in town and of course great selection of steaks! The interior design is very stylish: high ceiling, impressive dry-aging glass cabinet, a large central bar and a lounge area. Thus, a nice location to impress a date or a business partner. One minor critic regarding seating: the booth on the ground floor are not suitable for seating 4 people comfortably, unless you love to cuddle while eating :) Service was generally very good except once (thus the one star deduction). Finally, the dining experience can be nicely combined with an apéritif or a digestive at the related rooftop bar.
Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your kind comments! We strive to provide the best food, service and atmosphere. We appreciate your feedback as we are constantly looking for ways to improve. We hope you join us again soon. Yours in hospitality, Karen Ramirez Restaurant Manager
I tripped down at the steps while I’m holding my six months daughter. It was really dangerous. My left knee is swollen till now, and feel pain. My daughter cried right away. I’m not sure if she hurts or just scared. I will keep observe her. Hopefully she is fine. Also, there is no changing table for the baby in the washroom. It’s not convenient.
Food and service are great.
This dinner is for our anniversary. Sadly, it’s not perfect because of the accident.
Food and service were fine and a good wine list. Ambiance visually was ok as well, although lighting could be lower. The music was way off for the type of place it is. It was 80s and 90s radio hits, very odd. I gave feedback directly so maybe they will adjust. Also were a ton of families with young kids so not the upscale date night my wife and I were expecting.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We value all our guests feedback, we are constantly looking for ways to improve. Delicious, fancy and awesome!
Definitely somewhere special!
My partner got a stomach ache after eating their “steak”. And then she got sick for few days! Sadly, We were so disappointed
Excellent service. We had the cesar salad and kalamri for appetizers, both were very good. Steaks were cooked as ordered and very tasty. The macaroni sticks were very different and surprisingly good! The mushrooms were terrible, the only disappointing thing about our meal.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We take our guests feedback very seriously and I will be sure to pass on your candid comments about the mushroom dish to our culinary team for review. Im happy to hear you enjoyed some of our crowd favourites like the mac and cheese sticks! Yours in hospitality, Karen Ramirez Restaurant Manager
It was too over price and food wasn't taste.
I think I won't visit again.

We were out on a date night weekend getaway without the kids. We were seated next to a family with a screaming child. The host found us a new table where we were out of the way but unfortunately we were out of sight and out of mind. Our server kept forgetting to come back and check on us and I had an empty glass of wine for most of my meal. I usually have a great experience there but Saturday was a disappointment.
Dear SabrinaM, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We wanted to take a moment and extend our sincerest apologies for your experience. These issues are not taken lightly by our team and we will make every effort to ensure they do not occur in the future, I will personally speak with your server Emily to provide coaching notes.
