We always enjoy our meals and the service when we come to Black and Blue. We also celebrated my folks 61st wedding anniversary, back in October, with a party of 9 and were put in the private party room. Luis the restaurant manager and the staff were very helpful in getting things set up. The food was great, the service was wonderful, and my folks got a real kick out of the personalized menu set for their special occasion.
Even though we had just eaten at Black and Blue Friday night we decided to come back Sunday and it was fantastic, again, as usual. No wonder why they are the #1 restaurant in San Diego County. The pasta special with vegetables, shrimp and scallops in a creamy tomato sauce was excellent and the peanut butter, white chocolate dessert souffle was the best ever.
Our only complaint is that Black and Blue is only open Thursday-Sunday and we often eat our on Monday nights!!
Best filet in years....and it was on the $40 menu. Cooked to perfection with fantastic flavor in every bite. Hadn't ordered the filet in quite awhile as Black & Blue has been having so many pasta with seafood specials of late, but was craving a little beef and B & B delivered, big time!
The complete staff at Black and Blue from the Hostess on treat you like your business is the most important thing to them. From the time you're seated, you are pampered from the hot towels to the bread and pre-appetizers, then the food comes and the quality and tastes amaze you!
We liked the menu options above the Harrah's steak house (chicken, and seafood options). We did not like having to pay for extras on the side. An entree is an entree, meaning you should have a vegetable and starch on the plate. for example paying $34 for Seabass should include 2 sides with the bread. You are overpriced.
Did not like the tip included. My husband is a BIG tipper, so he added onto your charge of $29.
Not sure if we will go here again. Due to the smoke in the casino. Did not like the perfume like smell in the entry way. I am asthmatic and my friend has COPD.
The server did not do much. We were impressed with the lady that served the appetizers and bread before the meal. A young mam delivered our food, even before we took the 1st bite the server asked how everything was?
My seabass was good but did not like the creamy rich sauce. No description of how the seabass was served, my fault I should've asked, I don't like fancy sauces. I spent the next day recovering from a stomach ache.
Overall, I would recommend Black & blue but would warn people about the menu, tip included and over priced entrees.
Servers and bus service was on point. The staff was very friendly and they never forgot about their tables. Jessica and M... we’re on point with the communication. My husband and I had an amazing time. The restaurant was clean, cozy and had a romantic vibe to the night. Thank you for an awesome time!
They have the best value $40.00 meal that you can pick from (salad or soup, main and dessert) but this time we went for the Surf and Turf which was phenomenal! My husband and I split the meal, I had a HUGE lobster tail, with a scallop, shrimp and a large leg of crab. We shared the wedge salad which is so amazing, and didn't have room for dessert, but the coffee service, is amazing. fresh pressed coffee with all these condiments! sugar sticks, caramel, fresh cream and just amazing. Oh, and their breads before the meal? OMG. Highly recommend this to everyone at Valley View and it's worth just the drive up to eat.
Everything was great. We started with a calamari appetizer that turned out to be a mix of calamari and shrimp, excellent! Then we tried the special surf and turf combo. What a fantastic dish, all of the seafood (scallop, shrimp, king crab, and lobster tail) was cooked to perfection and the steak was perfectly done at a medium-rare as ordered.
If you enjoy steak and seafood this is the best place to go.
My husband and I visit Valley view a few times a year if not monthly. One thing we enjoy the most is dining at Black and Blue. The food is always on point! The steaks are always cooked to perfection and so delicious. We always enjoy our meal. The staff are always very polite. We shall be dining there again this month. Thanks again to everyone at Black and Blue.
We come to Black & Blue when we want to have a dining 'experience'. We're never let down. I recently tried the King Crab leg appetizer and although it was a little too 'wet' it kind of had to be to make sure the legs didn't dry out or that they kept moist. You get four (4) very nice sized pieces on a large bowl of ice. What I found myself doing was squeezing the water and then eating them and it didnt really bother me as I am a true king crab lover and understand they were kept chilled and in water to keep the legs moist and delicious, which they were. For dinner I had a filet mignon and it was so darn mouth watering, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right ... I was having a true food 'moment' with this entire meal. My bf also had a filet mignon and although I get mine rare, he gets his well done. Typically they butterfly a filet to cook it better for people who like it well done but he didnt have it butterflied and he said his was perfectly cooked as well! We had the $40 dinner specials and it was just enough food for both of us. I had the kale salad as my starter and that was exceptional. They have warm bacon wrapped fig or date deliciousness arbitrarily throughout the salad and the dressing works really well. It was such a delicious meal that we were just here two weeks ago to celebrate my birthday and wanted to have it again so we came back tonight! Its simple to get in to if you make a reservation. It takes about two (2) hours to have a meal on average but its a very relaxing atmosphere and the staff are extremely professional. We will be back .... many times!!
We had a great time. We were celebrating our anniversary and last date night before baby #2 comes! They decorated our dessert plate with congrats and his dessert plate with happy 5th anniversary! Service was wonderful. Bread was delicious. Caesar salad was perfect. I ordered off the preset menu and it was yummy. I ordered the filet and I also ordered the lava cake and it was sooooooooo good! The scoop of ice cream that came with it could have been a bit bigger!
