BJ's Steak & Rib House - Selinsgrove Ratings and Reviews
The service was phenomenal and the food was good though nothing to write home about, but we paid entirely too much $ for what we got. The oysters are overpriced and the steaks are far too expensive for only being 6 Oz sirloins. We have no problem paying a lot when we go out to eat, but we were disappointed in the value at BJ’s.
New menu with great variety of choices without being overwhelming. My father ordered the salmon special which he thought was delicious. My mother got the half rack, which never disappoints. I got a simple French Onion soup and salad. Everything was very tasty, (except soup lacked that great bubbly mozzarella cheese that French Onion soup is known for). Our waiter was excellent- very charismatic and attentive. And he made the evening extra special by topping the yummy meal off with a Chocolate Sundae in celebration of my father’s birthday.
I have no idea how many times that my husband and I have dined at BJ's. We just keep coming back. It is a destination restaurant for us. The food is delicious and innovative. Usually, I order the New Bedford Scallops which I adore! The wine choices, the excellent cocktails and the scrumptious desserts all make for a fantastic dining experience!
What a unexpected treat! We were meeting my sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting Harrisburg, for dinner while dropping our daughter back at college at Bucknell. We checked OpenTable to find a restaurant somewhere in between both areas and selected BJ's Steak and Rib House from the list.
The food was so delicious and inventive, server was friendly and the whole experience was wonderful. We would highly recommend BJ's to anyone visiting central PA. The folks who live in Selinsgrove and the students at SU are very lucky to have such an incredible restaurant to eat and hang out!!
First time to dine at BJ's. We had shrimp, clams, ribs, steak, clam chowder, salad, fries, rolls, cornbread, etc. Every single item was absolutely delicious. I wish this restaurant was closer to my home. Will definitely eat here again. Our waitress was very good.
This place is awful. We ordered their two signature dishes, the Chicago steak and the rack of ribs. The ribs came out like beef jerky. They were overcooked, dried out, tasteless and hard to cut with a steak knife. The Chicago steak came out burnt to a crisp for a medium order. By the time the second steak came out, I was done with my dinner. The French onion soup is microwave water with some onions and soggy bread. It is tasteless, clear, and bad.
We actually came for the oyster bar, however, the prices were outrageous so we had shrimp instead. The wine was good but $8.50 for a quarter glass was ridiculous. The BJ platter was overcooked and dry. The food is not worth the exhorbanat prices charged. We eat out at different restaurants every weekend and I rate this as the top worst so far. Also, I asked for a booth, which we got, in the bar! This information should be on the reservation as I do not like to eat in the bar, it is noisy and obviously the ambiance sucked.
So...we were in town for an event and needed a place to eat. I found this place on OpenTable and made a reservation. Let me just say that it was the BEST decision! My husband and I both had absolutely wonderful meals! The waitress was great and kept the food coming with perfect timing. I got oysters for an appetizer and my husband got the shrimp cocktail. All was very fresh and tasty! For dinner, we each got a different type of steak and sides. My husband literally said it was the best steak he had ever eaten (and this is coming from a man who really likes steak!). We did not get dessert because...quite frankly, we had no "room" for it, but I saw some of the desserts going by and they looked amazing. I wish we lived closer so we could go again! If you want a great meal...stop in!
Disappointed. This was to have been the prelude to seeing "Wonder Woman" on a rare Friday night date night. When we arrived, despite wide open space everywhere, we were seated by the men's room. We ordered cocktails, which were yummy, followed on their heels by our apps. Their bleu cheese dressing is to die for, so we always order the wings and a wedge, and this did not disappoint. BUT within 5 minutes of getting our apps ... our entrees arrived! The waitress just said, gee, guess the kitchen is on point this evening. My crab cake was unadorned in a small ramekin; my husband's soft shell crabs were swimming in a sea of overly sweet mango salsa. As we were waiting for the check, we happened to look at the booth cushions we were leaning against ... and they were not clean. The leather/pleather had drip marks and stains, and some particulate matter. We opted not to go for dessert - and were out of there in 30 minutes - and had over an hour till the movie. I would have rated this overall higher except it was not a pleasant dining experience ... and if the seats are dirty, what does the kitchen look like? We won't be back in the near future.
The amount of food we got was embarrassing. I ordered a steak and scallop combo. I received a very small steak....maybe 4-5 ounces and 3 SCALLOPS for $22.00 The only person out of 5 of us that got a decent portion was the rib, chicken, and shrimp combo. Service was great but I would be embarrassed to have served such small portions.
The ambiance is very nice, the food was good, and the staff were very attentive. We arrived about 30 min before our reservation, but they were able to seat us immediately. The only downside, and we knew this going in, is that there are no real vegetarian options. The vegetarian in our group is used to this and orders from the appetizer or sides menu, but it would be ideal if this restaurant offered at least one vegetarian option.
