Very cool place for dinner and drinks. A bit of history with some modern features.
Great ambiance, terrific service and delicious food!!
Excellent service, delicious food, delightful experience that does not disappoint.
We had a very early reservation (5pm) because we were heading to a show at 7. We were the first ones in the dining room. It took 2 hostesses and a manager 2+ minutes to find where to put us in the empty dining room after staring at an iPad and whispering. I had made a reservation months prior and had confirmed. There was a manager with short blond hair that totally stressed us out. She would pace the dining room and run around like a chicken with her head cut off the entire time. She was in and out like it was New Years Eve and they had a line out the door. Totally ruined the nice calm atmosphere it could’ve been. At one point the same manager in nice clothes was carting a rack of glasses through the dining room when there were servers standing around. I get helping out if you’re swamped but this was excessive in a 1/4 filled dining room. We ended up ordering 3 of the small plates. Zucchini ribbons were the best thing. Stroganoff meatballs were under seasoned and dry. Just a bit more sauce and salt would have made them much better. Also, it was “wild mushroom” stroganoff and it was as wild as a baby portobello. The cheese and charcuterie platter was okay. it was salami, speck or some type of Spanish ham, and a few chorizo type pieces with a cheddar that was decent and an outstanding blueberry goat cheese. No description was given so I’m guessing. All in all good but they must be put together in advanced and crackers are placed on the board and they were soggy. For $23 I don’t want soggy crackers. Our server along with her support staff was attentive. The bartenders were the true standout gems of this place. Unique and delicious craft cocktails. Next time, I’d definitely have a cocktail then move on for dinner.
Overpriced plain food. Great ambience and venue, although $5 for parking seemed like a slap on the face if you’re eating at the restaurant. Service was fine, but nothing to rave about.
First impression was that it is in a beautiful old building, when entering it is very loud, extremely high ceilings and marble. It was an old federal court house. The food was excellent along with great service. Not a place for a intimate dinner. But overall was a great place for good drinks and dinner.
We had a 5pm reservation, early to leave us time to make a media reception at the Straz before seeing Hamilton. The host seated us next to a noisy vent. When we asked to be reseated he looked around the EMPTY restaurant and said, but all these tables are reserved. The food was below mediocre. We will never return.
Outstanding. If I could give Bizou six stars I would. It is easy to compliment a restaurant when the entire experience is perfect. I believe true excellence is shown when a hiccup occurs.
Our appetizers and my entree where fantastic. However there was a challenge with my SO's entree. The manager handled the issue himself and without us asking removed the meal from our bill. Our server likewise apologized which was unnecessary but appreciated.
It is nice to see a high end restaurant, when there has been a challenge, handle the situation with grace and excellent service as opposed to making the patron feel that they were in some way responsible for incorrectly prepared food.
Bizou created a fan for life with their professionalism (and great food) and we plan to return next month with several other guests.
Good experience would be happy to go back!
We ordered the caesar salad to start. We requested that it be brought as one serving. It was brought into split small servings. The serving was by far the smallest caesar salad serving for $12 we have ever had in a restaurant. My wife chipped her tooth on the first bite as the croutons were rock hard. By the time she picked out all the croutons, the brownish, discolored romaine and the hunk of heart they left in there, her portion of the salad was diminished to exactly 4 very small total bites. The waiter asked if we were ready to order the entree. My wife informed him we would be leaving and asked for the check. He turned around brought us our check. Not once were we asked if it was something unsatisfactory or question why we would leave. Nor the concern of my wife holding onto her cheek and grimacing in pain. The side plated with all the inedible parts of the salad were an obvious giveaway. My wife wrote a short note on the receipt in the hope that Bizzou may reach out to apologize for their complete lack of caring. But to no avail. Very disappointing! It's highly overrated. There are far more restaurants with better food, service, ambiance and pricing in the area.
It was great. There was a very large party there at the same time as my party so it took a while to get our order, but it was delicious.
Excellent all around.
We had great service, the food was very good, would recommend this to anyone.
Great experience. I've heard great things about this place and it didn't disappoint. Amazing building.
Wé didnt realize that the restaurant was joinded to the bar. Our booth was right next to a high top bar table. The group of young men were so loud that we could not hear each other speak. Wé both ordered the beef shish kebab. It was overcooked and had no flavor. Wé sent them Back. No problem with the server replacing our meal. The hamburgers were very good.
Burgers were a product of frozen beef. It should not be called a Brasserie but rather hotel bar - because it’s a hotel menu
The food was barely warm when it arrived at the table and server seemed overwhelmed maybe even confused.
Our occasion was none of the above, but since I was on vacation I suppose it was a date.
When there is nothing going on in the area, it will be easy to get a seat. Other restaurants were largely empty as well.
Food was delicious. We sat at the bar, so it was difficult to know the specials without a truly to the kitchen by our bartender. Except for that she was great. Made us feel welcome. She must have had a substantial catalog of drinks. She was mixing some doozies without reference. I would come back.
Overall, it was just an ok experience. We went in for the fire cider drinks, appetizers. TheThe drink looks completely different on the Facebook page as it does in real life, the candle on the table was never late, it’s kind of loud, and the appetizers were OK.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. We enjoyed our experience!
We enjoyed a delicious dinner on Christmas night. We arrived a bit early and were able to relax at the bar with cocktails before being seated at a cozy booth. Our waiter was welcoming and professional and our food was really good. We will definitely return!
Comfortable space and excellent service. The food was completely uninspired.
Very interesting menu and preparation. Nice place to have Christmas dinner without any fuss.
The regular menu was an excellent choice for a Christmas dinner. Cody was a charming staff member. The chicken sandwich, the bean burger, and especially the yummy, warm pecan tart were perfect! Thank you.
Slow service, at least by our waitress. Waited almost 20 minutes to get a drink even though we saw them ready sitting on their. Other wait staff seemed to be on top of things but ours was frequently missing, had to ask others about things we needed. The place was not busy, had to ask multiple times for simple items like bread.
Delicious breakfast. Great service. And it’s in an old courthouse so the architecture is very cool too. Marble walls!
LARRY was the perfect waiter. He was professional, kind, and energetic. It was Christmas Eve and he still made us feel like we were the only people in the room. We will definitely go back. And the food?? !! The food was the best in Tampa!!
We enjoyed Sunday brunch and it was delicious! I'm sure their dinner menu is also great and we want to return for the evening dinner some day.
Best place, and had a phenomenal waitress and the food was amazing
Birthday— friends get together. Restaurant was very empty, service was poor. Food was cold by the time we got it. It was a shame— we had heard great things but left disappointed.
Food came out cool - felt like preparation was more suited for a wedding and not dinner. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived for our reservation. The highlight were the drinks - which is something you can imbibe in without the underwhelming food.
I wouldn’t go back to this place. A waste of time and money. Everything from the mgmt to the food was awful.
Pros: delicious burger + fries, the cheeseboard is immaculate (and serves 4 ppl), good wine selection, convenient if stay at hotel
Cons: service was slow, bar was somewhat vibrant but restaurant was not
Delicious avocado toast and egg whites! I ordered a peppermint mocha and it was to die for.
Food was not that tasty. I had the strawberry field salad, but the dressing didn’t pair great with the salad and very limited strawberries in the salad.
Also ordered the zucchini ribbons which are about 1/10 of a centimeter wide of actual zuchinni and then disproportionately smothered in fried batter that was overly salty.
Also ordered the salmon entree since they were out of the salmon appetizer and the portion of the entree maybe the size of a half of a hand, but it tasted fine, nothing special.
Additionally the waiter offered to cover the first round of drinks since we were celebrating a birthday (3 of us). Then at the end of our meal he said he couldn’t find his manager to comp the drinks so he offered us a free dessert instead. To me, this was unprofessional. So we asked him to go look for his manager again. Then he came back and said he found the manager and can only comp one drink. Again, not entirely professional.
Otherwise, the ambiance was great. It looks classy and it stayed pretty quiet.
This is our 4th or 5th trip to this restaurant. Food is mediocre. Service was slow and slightly inattentive. The restaurant staff are oddly dressed no real uniform some look like kitchen staff serving tables others looked like they were ready to work at the front desk of the hotel. Very inconsistent. The wait to order was a bit long. Omelettes were dry, toast cold, extra small portion of breakfast potatoes and missing toast for one of our meals. Manager offered a muffin “to go” as a replacement. Over all we were disappointed and after paying $60 for brunch with no alcohol we probably won’t be back.
Food was delicious and the live music was great
The good: the flank steak was perfect! And the three pepper sauce was the perfect complement.
The bed: spinach ravioli was no better than any chain “Italian” restaurant.
The ugly: the service! Our waiter, Larry, was incredibly condescending and dismissive. There was an extraordinary wait for the food, and even longer for bar service.
The verdict: doubtful I would give them another shot. Too bad, because we liked the menu and the location.
service was very slow. Food was mediocre, slow to refill drinks and then messed up on the check.
