Holly our server was attentive and quick. Cocktails and the food were good. I was not happy with valet at all - doubt they’re employees, probably an outside company. If I ever go back I will self park.
We had a perfect dining experience here. The food was delicious! We were staying at the Le Meridian Hotel, so this was very convenient (2nd floor of hotel). Lovely.
It’s such a great space and great location but I really wanted the good to be better. Very hotel food. The corn fritters were not as described in the online menu. They didn’t taste fresh made more like frozen.
The cocktail was so so. And the waiter was not like happy that we were there!
So maybe not dining here again
Solid hotel restaurant choice if you’re staying at Le Meridien
the food was very good . I had the salmon on the plank, moist , nicely done. The live music was fun . Service was excellent
One common theme with hotel restaurants is they are always empty. And possibly because of this the staff is usually pretty indifferent and seem to just go through the motions.
We waited 2-3 minutes before any soul was visible. Finally the bar tender walked around to greet us and took us to the table.
You can tell this is a high end place but the designer kind of halfassed it. The pictures on the wall are arranged irritatingly all over the place, there are no chandeliers and the lighting coming from the recessed cans 30’ high is far too bright.
The photos online of this restaurant are far better than it looks in person.
The food was absolutely amazing and due to that alone I’d expect more people to be here. Then again the higher pricing is probably offsetting that, and the fact that we were here on a Wednesday night.
I said that we were there for a birthday and zero effort was made by the staff to acknowledge this. No birthday song, no free dessert like most places do. Not even a little candy on the table with a card that said Happy Birthday! That was quite disappointing.
Again the food was really good but there wasn’t enough other positives to recommend this place and I won’t be going back any time soon.
Salads good. Burgers missed the mark, had to send one back was burned. Zucchini ribbons way too salty.
Website lead us to believe that is was a nice atmosphere with better than good dining. However, when we arrived it was extremely loud and there was a large party acting very obnoxious, and were dressed as it was a fast food restaurant. We ended up leaving a tip and not waiting to order food, and headed over to the near by steakhouse for a more enjoyable evening.
The food and ambiance was amazing. I highly recommend this place.
I liked it but it was very empty. Service was good.
The only thing that tooknfrom the moment was the taste of music. My wife and I were hoping for more of a piano charismatic atmosphere. All and all a great experience..
Only two tables were seated upon our arrival, yet it took more than 5 minutes for staff to acknowledge us. Drinks were good (and pricy), appetizer was overcooked as was the meat in my entree.
Great space and server was helpful.
I loved the black shirts and white suspenders! Can’t wait to come back and try more Appitizers. Building is beautiful. It’s just fun.
Great place to chill or even take a date. Unique atmosphere with excellent service and exquisite food.
We chose Bizou Brasserie for our pre-theater dining because we were excited to see how they had converted the old courthouse. The space was worth seeing.
The food was enjoyable but not worth going back for. It was a strange mix of hotel prices and quality and deluxe dining.
We started with drinks at the bar which were watered down.
At our table we ordered the goat cheese app which was good. The bizou and downtown burgers were very flavorful and extremely well cooked but could have used acid in the way of lettuce and tomato to really make them sing.
The side salads were a bit of a joke. A bowl full of mixed lettuce topped with dressing. Though the burger upcharge for a side salad is $1 for entrees it is $4 and to buy it on its own is $6. I would have been incredibly upset if I had spent more than a dollar for that.
Additionally, the $6 side of bacon Brussels sprouts came out in a small ramekin that consisted of two sprouts cut in half for a total of four small bites. Not worth the extra cost.
The biggest disappointment were the desserts. Whomever wrote the descriptions on the menu deserves a raise. The apple crisp and pecan tart sounded so unique that we had to try them. Being from New England, we’ve had a lot of Apple Crisp and this was very much just ok. It was just a traditional crisp with a less than crisp topping and the flavor was a bit off. The bourbon ice cream also tasted off.
The pecan tart was just simply pecan pie. Again, it was fine, but the description made it sound unique.
Overall, the experience was fine, and the building is really neat to see.
The burger was amazing. We did not care for the charteriu board, and they actually took it off the bill. Very impressed I highly suggest the burger!
I selected this location as I love the idea of this being a former courthouse. It's pretty inside, although I wish there were more of the original inside architecture from the courthouse; outside of the bathroom. When I arrived, it took a while for the waiter to even take my drink order; a bit disappointing. The noise level was low, so I appreciated that aspect for sure. You could have a conversation without trying to hear what the other person is saying without leaning over; great feature. Highly recommend the Bumble Berry Sangria cocktail.
First time customer and found everything very good. Was early for reservation and was to be seated in a more crowded area although other areas were empty (told reserved). However, host was very accommodating and quickly cleaned off another table so we weren't on top of others. Started at the bar with a nice variety of unique cocktails. Would recommend and return.
Nice hotel bar/restaurant. The food seemed to take a long time to come out given that the restaurant was not crowded when we dined. But, the food was tasty and this was a convenient spot downtown before going to a show at the Straz.
The place is beautiful and ambience is superb. I like the quietness so we don't have to yell to hear each other. The dishes are very good. My son who's allergic to so many foods had a mountain of house salad that he finished down to the last piece of vegetable. The waiter could have been more personable, but he's okay.
The Lamb, Ravioli and Burger were all wonderful and enjoyed by the guests. the Snapper was not good and I would not recommend it. The fish was old and flavorless. everything else about the dinners was Excellent.
Food was good, we enjoyed our meals which included the Chopped Salad, Salmon, and Stuffed Chicken. There were times service was a little slow. It wasn’t enough to adversely affect the evening, but it was enough to notice.
Went to Bizou before a show at the Straz. Had a reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter wasn’t the best honestly, nice enough but not very attentive. The food was good and the ambiance of the old building was nice. The food was good, we had the Bizou burger.
Nice atmosphere, great service
Tenderloin was good. Burger was over cooked.
Our waiter was the most pessimistic, sloppy and rude person I have ever had. But the atmosphere was cool and the food was wonderful!!!! I would go back but request not to sit in Larry’s section!
Service was very slow to start but good once started. Food was quite good. Nicely presented and right-sized house salad. Bizou burger was really tasty and is recommended. To be avoided is the Brussel sprouts side-just wet, soggy sprouts. Overall was very good, but nothing special.
One out of four dishes was good. The pork shank was delicious. The burger, sirloin, and filet were just terrible. The burger in particular looked like it had just been defrosted and stuck in a microwave. Really disappointing. Also, the wait staff was actively fighting with each other over who would get our table. Nuts.
I would not go again! Brussels sprouts were awful - definitely not roasted. First they brought them just dipped in water, then overboiled. Asparagus came with just 3 pieces. Tenderloin skewers were all but tender. I also didn’t know you can mess up that much French fries.
We had a very pleasant early dinner before going to the theater. The food was good and not expensive.
Our server was basically non-existent. It took forever for anyone to come to our table, and once we ordered she never came back to check on us at all. I ordered a glass of champagne when we sat down and they forgot to bring it...i finally got it half way through my new (after i reminded them) and it was warm. There were three of us, we ordered entrees only very quickly because 1) we had to get to a show and 2) i could tell quickly service was going to be questionable - and our new took nearly two hours. No appetizers and no dessert.
Mediocre food served at room temp and uncooked chicken 😔
We were excited to try dinner here and left quite disappointed. We were sat at 6:00pm for dinner in plenty of time to make it to the nearby theatre to see Hamilton. We are a family of four.
The venue is very cool and the live music was wonderful. Our server was very nice and attentive. That’s where the good stuff ends though.
My husband ordered fish and I ordered salmon. Both were good. My older son ordered the flank steak and my younger son ordered chicken from the children’s menu. Every single one of the sides for ALL of our meals was lukewarm. The mashed potatoes were dry and barely warm. Asparagus was room temp. We didn’t send them back because we wanted to be sure to get to Hamilton on time. But then we discovered the fried chicken served to my younger son was NOT fully cooked. Parts were raw. We sent it back. They did offer us a free dessert. That was nice.
Sadly we won’t be back. That meal was such a let down on so many levels. We don’t complain generally so it takes a lot for me to write this. But really, it was a waste of time and money.
Nice ambiance. Croutons were stale but salad was otherwise fine. My salmon sandwich for lunch, done medium rare, was delicious.
Unique atmosphere but noisy. Loved the building. Not busy for Sunday brunch yet staff not responsive. Sup par hotel food . Bloody Mary super spicy had to get another server to take it back. It was not explained it was made with chili vodka! My eggs benedict - came out on UNtoasted English muffin. One of the two eggs NOT runny & no hollandaise sauce! Server brought out some runny tasteless sauce. They took my eggs off the tab. Will not go back.
The only problem and for me is the worst problem ever was the service. I had to tell our waitress everything. Get us water, get us coffee spoons, etc. Aside from that food, ambience and location. Really good. I will probably go back. But if I see the same server I’m gone
Excellent food. All of our meals were perfectly cooked and were delicious.
I made a reservation at 7:50am for a table at 6:15pm. When I came in there were several open tables, some with reserved signs others not. I was seated at a 2 top directly next to the restroom (no reserved sign) with a wonderful view of a coffee bar with a dirty floor. Also they were already out of brussel sprouts. Eventually we were moved to a large round table in the back corner. Food was mediocre. Volume was loud. Our server was great, but we will not be back.
Superior ambience and service
We enjoy lunch at Bizou a few times a year; as many reviewers have noted, the building that the restaurant and hotel occupy is the Old Courthouse, and yes, they did a very nice job retaining many of the classical elements of style while updating it.
On this visit, my wife enjoyed the classic burger with cheddar. They really do make an awesome, unctuous burger. Hands down in the top 5 we've had. But be forewarned - it is pricey at $15; however, first - the quality of the meat is outstanding, and second, the atmosphere is definitely upscale-casual. Excellent spot for a business lunch (especially if someone else is paying!!).
I had the steak and cheese flatbread (for the first time). It was off-the-chain good!! I like my flatbreads crispy (last one I had here was too doughy), but they happily obliged my request to make it a little crispier - I recommend asking for that so that the flatbread holds up to the carmelized onions, tender steak, and fontina cheese. I also asked for a little extra horseradish cream on the side - which was a good choice. At $17, it is (again) pricey, but the ingredients were very fresh, the beef was of high quality (tender, no gristle).
Service was punctual and friendly.
