Food was delicious though the presentation of the entrees was not at the usual spectacular level. However everything tasted great and we had a fun time.

Though we live 45 min. away, we look for opportunities to dine at Bittersweet when we're in the vicinity, and we are never disappointed. We've diner there about a half dozen times. In our experience, it's the best restaurant in Denver. Seasonal menu, locally sourced, in warm weather with herbs grown on the restaurant's patio.

The menu is very creative, sometimes surprising, surpassing in flavors that complement, rather than contrast with one another.

We try and eat at Bittersweet a couple of times per year as it is a drive, but it is always worth the effort. The menu is limited as they spend an extraordinary effort on each dish but anyone can find something as they always have a fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The staff is very well trained and know wines as well as the food.

Love this place

Went for a birthday dinner. Our server did an excellent job taking care of us and making sure the kitchen was aware of my nut allergy. They were able to make the dessert special to accommodate. The pappardelle appetizer was fantastic. Our main courses would have been great but they were a little underdone. They graciously took them back to get them up to temperature.

After reading 5280 top restaurant edition it became very clear that I try this place out. After all, it's down the street from where I live (sort of). I decided to give it a go to Celebrate my sisters birthday and could not have asked for a more perfect evening. Food was fabulous as was the service. The feel of the restaurant is cozy, delightful, relaxed yet there is something about it that screams "we know food." And they certainly know what they are doing in the kitchen. The parpadelle, Panna cotta, duck and chicken were as close as it comes to perfection. Thank you for a beautiful dining experience. The dining scene is becoming so competitive in Denver, so to stand out as a new favorite says something about Bittersweet. Perfect name BtW. It's so bittersweet to leave.

It was our 1st time at Bittersweet and we were both really impressed. It is a lovely environment to sit and enjoy dinner, the food was excellent we enjoyed sampling all of the plates on the table. The bottle of Vire Classe we enjoyed was wonderful and reasonably priced. Service was very friendly and attentive, all in all, an excellent dining experience. We will return soon.

Bittersweet provides delicious, innovative, and gorgeously presented food in a warm, quiet, and inviting setting. This was our third time there, and each visit has been great! The pre-dinner cocktails were creative and tasty. The house-made rye bread had a satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft yeasty fragrant inside. For starters, we had a lovely risotto with pumpkin seeds and a roasted butternut squash with pasta that were both delightful. Best, though, were the mains, delectable roasted lamb shank and smoked duck. The Michael David Old Vine Cinsault we drank with dinner had enough body and flavor to support these hardy dishes and was affordable too. Dessert was a toasted hazelnut tart with ice cream, sweet enough for my spouse and nutty goodness for me. We will be back!

Very loud in the fireplace dining room. Don’t understand why everyone was put in that room when the other room had space available. As always, the food was excellent.

The service: Made an 8:00pm reservation for 2 people, was seated around 8:20pm. While we waited I ordered a drink at the bar, that drink didn't show up at our table until 8:30pm. The service was very very slow. They only had 2 waiters staffed on a busy Friday night? That just doesn't seem like good management or planning for a busy dinner rush night. What's even weirder is that there didn't seem to be any front house manager on the floor, just the 2 waiters/waitress, a bartender and a seating hostess. The food: The cocktail I ordered was made well. I ordered the cheese plate which was overpriced, unimpressive and extremely small. The cheese plate had some crumbs of bread, a few curds of blue cheese along with a total of 2 grapes that were sliced in half to fill up the lack of actual food on the plate, nothing special and a complete waste of money. I had the pork entree and my boyfriend had the steak. Both entrees were okay, the pork was overlooked, the kale that came with it was very tasty though but both entrees still had very small portion sizes. This place is nothing special. The wait staff seems stressed, overworked and unorganized. At one point the 2nd waitress approached my table yelling "fish!? fish?! Did you guys get fish? I replied "no" she got all huffy and marched off with it. People keep filing in from outside with no area to stand to wait for a table, very awkward and uncomfortable for others trying to eat there dinner. I understand there trying to give a high end dining experience but the service nor food meet any of these expectations. Advice to the owner, hire some extra staff for busy nights, improve the execution and portion sizes of the food. The waiter did comp 1 of our drinks because of the experience which was nice of him to do. There's plenty of other delicious places to dine in Denver, skip this place and have a better, tastier and less stressful experience.

It was fine. Not outstanding, not disappointing. Maybe a little too froo froo for my taste (small creative meals on giant plates served at tiny bistro tables). For a small dining room, the rock music was just a bit too loud (OMG I sound like my mother) to enjoy quiet conversation and it was HOT. We cracked the sliding door which helped, until the lady sitting next to said door got chilly. Then it was hot again. A group of 6 came in shortly after we did and sat 2 feet away and shouted and howled OVER the loud music.... they may have been better off at Hooters or Chilis, but not the restaurants fault.
Anyhoo, I had Halibut and my hub had beef- both good, but not TO DIE FOR. The desserts (usually my FAV part of any meal) - mint sponge cake with chocolate ganache and lemon olive oil cake with chocolate ganache were ok, interesting but nothing special. Friendly service.

Enjoyed our first time! Food was excellent and artfully arranged. Service for the most part good, except our waitperson forgot coffee but did not charge. If I was to make a comment on an improvement for ambiance it would be turn on the fireplace. It was a cool night and the fire would have made it more cozy. Interior is contemporary with hard edges, which is not a problem, just no warmth. Change the music to softer light jazz or softer contemporary.

I have eaten at a lot upscale restaurants over the years both in the US and abroad and the food and drinks we had at Bittersweet were some of the best. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The atmosphere was nice but it is very loud. It seemed to take a little while to receive our food and drinks but the restaurant was busy at the time (7 pm reservation on a Saturday night) but they were well worth the wait. I can't wait to go back!

We were at the restaurant on a Saturday night and it was suprisingly quiet. The food was great, we tried duck and a couple of fish dishes. My favorite though was the desert, I had one by the name of Purple. It was very light and enjoyable...mmmm...
We were sitting outside where there are maybe 5 or 6 tables total. When we arrived a couple of tables were occupied and shortly they left so we were alone on the patio for a long time. That was a little suprising for us as it seemed like the place is not that popular on weekend nights...
The server was friendly and caring, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, a good expirience and I definitely recommend trying it. Just wish there were more people and more action that night.

Should be 2.5 stars, not good, but better than fair. Bittersweet came highly recommended by a friend in the know about restaurants in Denver, but we did not have the same experience apparently.

My wife and I went for Dinner at 7:45 on a Saturday night. First red flag, the place was empty. 1/4 full at best. The service was fine, wait staff was friendly and helpful, no complaints there.

Speed of service wasn't an issue either; bread, drinks, appetizer, main course all came out in a reasonable amount of time.

The food was the issue. We had the Stuffed Pappardelle ($11), this was probably the best part of the meal, although all you got was 2, 4"x1" strips of it. I ordered the Corvina White Bass ($26), it was good, portion was small for the price but it was tasty. My wife ordered the Wagyu Hanger Steak ($28), which was recommended by our friend. It was a dud. Small portion and quite overcooked.

Including 2 cocktails our bill was ~$100. Not worth it. Had it been $50, we wouldn't have thought twice about it, but we left hungry and annoyed at the mediocrity of the meal.

Maybe they were having a bad night, maybe we got there after a huge rush and the cooks were out of steam, who knows. But, at those prices we won't be going back to find out if it was a one time thing.
