The bittersweet team has an artisanal approach to hand crafted, playful and artfully created food that is not only grounded in fundamental culinary techniques but our verve for the Avant Garde. We make everything we can in-house using the best possible ingredients. By sourcing from local farms and fisheries, and partnering with those who take our same care and approach to their own harvesting and herding—we offer food that is fresh, seasonal and artisanal.
Bittersweet’s wine and cordial list have been hand selected to pair with both our cuisine as well as create the same interesting combinations found in our food. We feature and ever changing wine, beer and cocktail lists as well as spirits that represent both local companies and quality craftsmanship.

The food is amazing! We came with a group of 6 and tried each other's dishes, and they were all fantastic. They also do really well with wine pairing. Service was great, albeit a bit slow going from one course to the next. Not a big deal though, as we still thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
This is a favorite of ours in Denver! The food plating is masterful, and the flavor profiles are quite lovely and even exceed the presentation. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is delightfully attentive. I fully recommend Bittersweet!
Great food and service! We always enjoy the creativeness of the chef!
We celebrated 2 birthdays and our overall experience was intimate and elegant. May, the hostess was a refreshingly warm, pleasant and courteous first impression! Sylvia was hands down one of the best servers we have had in years! She was extremely knowledgeable of all menu items and was very patient in answering all of our questions. Given the number of tables/party size she was tending to, her timely visits to our table were just right and non-intrusive. The food presentation and taste were by far, 5 star! Adding this place to our favorites list!
Really attentive service, genuine and welcomed. Both meals we ordered were rave-worthy.
EXCELLENT! Love this place. Fairly new to Denver, it has taken a while to find some favorite spots....and this one is on top of the list. Great atmosphere, service, craft cocktails, good wine list, and exceptional food. Parking can be a bear, so arrive a little early - !
The staff at Bittersweet was fabulous! We were greeted by the host and he recognized the “birthday girl” immediately and informed us that a bubbly toast would be served complimentary!! The staff also put a candle into one of our desserts as an added nice touch. All of our guests were extremely pleased with the food and choices! As a relatively new “Denverite” Bittersweet is a hidden treasure that I am glad to have discovered and will visit again!
Our dinner at Bittersweet was the best we've had in Denver in a very long time. I cannot say whether the two small plates we shared--the lamb meat balls and the wild boar--or the grouper I had for a main course were better because they were all perfection! The service was impeccable, and it was nice to be able to laugh and talk with friends without ever needing to raise our voices. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
So delicious, great service and plates were beautiful. Save room for dessert!!!
This is a place to go for a celebration. The dishes were all amazing. The vegetables were cooked just perfectly and service was top notch.
Bittersweet has a charming ambience for gathering to enjoy a delicious meal. The staff was very accommodating for menu changes regarding dietary requests.
Food exceptional...service not as attentive as usual. Pity.
Our experience was indeed bittersweet. The food was outstanding in quality when it finally arrived, but the portions are quite small. The server seemed to be trying to manage the situation but we were told the kitchen was backed up that night. This was particularly surprising since at least a third of the tables were empty and the menu is relatively limited. The ambiance is nice but it lost its charm when we spent far too long there wondering if they had started the long process of cooking risotto from scratch when we ordered it.
My party and I wished there were more by the glass win options. Otherwise it was great!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. The food is consistently delicious and interesting, the service wonderful and the ambiance quiet and refined.
Excellent food, drinks, ambiance and service. This was an instant classic and we look forward to visiting again in the future
Parking is very limited, so you must find neighborhood street parking which is very difficult. Onion soup appetizer was 4 tablespoons in a soup bowl for $11.00. We sent it back and got one of the pastas which was just fair. A house gin and tonic was $10.00. The pork chop was very good but overpriced based on the portion and sides. The atmosphere is very nice but overall I would not come back nor would anyone else in the party.
Lovely food. The roasted vegetables were divine. Service was props, friendly. Lovely atmosphere Easy access and parking.
What a great restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Bittersweet for our 14th anniversary. The service was excellent. The ambiance was delightfully elegant, yet refreshingly understated. We recommend the risotto and the duck confit.
A celebration among friends
Everything was fantastic?
Date night with my husband. Meal was amazing, service was excellent, and we enjoyed the house cocktails as well
We love the he Thursday tasting menu with a cocktail to start it off
We had an excellent birthday celebration at Bittersweet. The service was spot-on & the food was delicious. They also had some really interesting beer & wine options that paired perfectly with our meals. We ate outside & it was easy to have a conversation, even with the occasional traffic noise. It seemed like the indoor space would also be relatively quiet. Bittersweet has been on my list of restaurants to try for years & I'm glad we finally made it there. We will definitely be back!
2nd time eating here and was even more amazing than the first time. Literally everything tastes fantastic! And they are really nice about accommodating dietary restrictions. You won’t go wrong dining here!
I love Bittersweet. It is a gift to the neighborhood and the entire Denver Community. Every time I have the pleasure to spend an evening there, be it on the patio or tucked up against the fireplace, the food wow's me and the service is friendly and informative. If you have not been to Bittersweet then you are missing out!
We went for a dinner for four to celebrate a birthday, and sat outside. The setting and service were wonderful. The food was fantastic. The entrees at our table varied from halibut to duck to steak. All of them were good. The handmade sorbets and ice creams were also great. We highly recommend and will be back!
Bittersweet is a romantic spot good for a date night but if you are a foodie I would suggest passing on this little find. I had the burrata which was delicious, the stuffed zucchini which was something even a home chef could make more flavorful and the Scottish salmon appetizer which was creative but the sweet and the sharp punch of the mustard seed was just not very complimentary.
Overall I felt like Bittersweet offers a very limited menu and tries to get too creative. This is one that I am glad I checked it off my list but won’t need a return visit.
Great patio, wonderful wine selection and food is as good as it is beautiful.
INteresting and tasty menu options but all too pricey. Also, wine list is limited and too expensive
Did the tasting menus and all of the wines were rose... not the most thought out parings.
Our second visit to Bittersweet. Food was delicious AND beautiful; service attentive but not hovering. We sat outside and it was lovely. Quieter than inside. We will be back.
It was a fantastic experience! The food was so flavorful!
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The place itself is very charming. The food and cocktails were suburb. We could not have asked for a better meal.
Great "special occasion" place. Outdoor patio is very nice.
Suggested glass of wine came in at 54/glass without warning? Not sure if it was error and didn’t even think to dispute charge while there and reviewing check, but...
Always a favorite and never a disappointment. The garden patio is one of our favorites too. The zucchini soup was amazing!
Always LOVE Bittersweet. It’s our go-to for any occasion. Beautiful, colorful, flavorful food. A delight!
