BITE Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is in a good location (by the Tacoma Dome) and ambiance, but that was about it. Three members of the party ordered the salmon which was way overcooked. This was not just our table, the table next to our also ordered the salmon, and they refused to pay because the salmon was so bad. Two members of our party ordered the risotto and it was basically just under-cooked rice. One member ordered a salad, and after everyone else was served, we had to ask 2 times for the salad to be brought out (finally brought out about 10 mins after everyone else was served). Overall with drinks, the dinner came to $60 per person (without tip). Very disappointing.
Friend's birthday brunch. Great food, but the server, Marissa, was disengaged and disinterested. No coffee refills, no water refills, no dressing for salad, the list goes on. Nice young woman, but certainly needs more training and/or motivation. Dessert - maple pecan cake was outstanding as was the omelet and the salmon Cobb salad.
The breakfast wasreally good, although very disappointing that the huckleberry pancakes everyone raves about on Yelp are no longer served, since (other than the restaurant being right in our hotel), was the main reason we selected it in lieu of checking out the breakfast offerings downtown. Also there was literally no ambiance, which is normally what we would have expected from a hotel restaurant. However, all the reviews we had read made it sound like it was a not to be missed locale for food & ambiance. So bottom line, if you are staying at the Hotel Murano (hotel itself actually has great ambiance which actually made Bite ambiance more disappointing) and looking for convenience and good food, Bite is excellent for that. However, I wouldn’t go out if my way to come here, if you are looking for a restaurant with good, food local personality, and ambiance.
When my group showed up for our 11:00am brunch reservation, we waited for a while before learning that our table had been given away to another group that they thought was us. After another wait, they sat us at a new table and handed out menus that did not include any brunch food. When we asked, we were told that due to an event they were having a limited menu and were not serving brunch that day. We saw the people at our original table eating breakfast food. I asked another employee about it and was told that they must have ordered their meals before 11:00. They apparently stopped serving that type of food at 11:00. We decided to leave, as their limited menu did not meet the dietary needs of everyone in our group, plus we really were there for brunch, not lunch. It was all a big disappointment of strange circumstances and odd customer service. The result was us having to wait a long time to get into another restaurant for brunch and eating hours after our 11:00 plans.
My visit was during a business conference at the Hotel Murano. I was able to get a 6-person reservation very easily, using Open Table. For me, it was very convenient to just stay at the venue and not have coordinating the driving to an off-site location (and it was relaxing for the clients enjoying dinner). While the prices are higher, the meals are reflective of that cost (quality, taste, presentation and quantity). The dinner menu doesn't have very many choices, rather a double-edged-sword, if you will; you just have to go with what you like - it will be delicious. Because BITE supports the Hotel Murano bar, the appetizer list seemed to be longer than most - lot's of choices, if that is what you are looking for.
Overall it was a good experience and food was nicely prepared. They only disappointment is that one of my guests requested no cheese on the sandwich of the day and we were told that the sandwiches were pre-prepared and the cheese could not be removed. I would think the chef could have been more accommodating.
I was shocked at the prices! VERY reasonable! Nice view. I could see how service would be great, I think I got caught in the crosshairs of waitstaff going on break. Must go to the front desk and request an elevator key to check out all of the beautiful glass art in the hotel. Sara the bartender saved the day!
My family of six arrived for an early meal - only 3 other tables filled in restaurant. Food was fine, once we got it, although for an empty restaurant it took almost 2 hours to get through the meal. One person in our party had food allergies, and getting information and alternatives was challenging. Some of us were served the wrong thing. The temperature in the restaurant was about 60 degrees, so bring a sweater!
Service was very slow--we waited for 15 minutes just for water, and then another 15 for wine. The oysters on a half shell were uneven--a couple were good, but one tasted frighteningly bad. Clams were rubbery. This area is known for great seafood, so there's no excuse for that.
I really enjoyed the food at BITE. It was tasty and filling and a great value. The service was friendly and attentive. However, my only negative comment is our reservations were not honoured. I understand that there was a conference happening in the hotel and a huge influx of people wanted to eat at the restaurant at the same time, but isn't that the point of making reservations in the first place?? Sadly, BITE did nothing to rectify the situation. Good food, but the reservation process was quite disappointing.
We ended up at Bite on prom night. Great group of young people but the noise level is probably a little more moderate on a different night. Still fun. Our service was excellent. The only difficult part was what to choose for dinner when everything sounded delicious.
Discovered BITE off of the Tacoma Restaurant Week page, my friend and I decided the menu looked good and decided to try it out. Our server was great at his job, very knowledgable and friendly, and the food was AMAZING. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends, and will return in the future. Thank you!
We have enjoyed coming to Hotel Murano and sitting in the downstairs bar and decided to try Bite. I made reservations and we were promptly seated. However, we were sat in between two families with children, which would've been fine if there was no other options. There were many other private tables available. We then asked if we could sit in the bar for a more adult atmosphere. The server told us yes and to sit anywhere we like. After waiting for 10 minutes without being greeted or given water the bartender came over and told us, "We weren't ready for you to sit down. It's going to be awhile before you get anything." I was already on the phone with another restaurant getting new reservations by that time. When we left the bartender didn't seem to happy to see us leave and said, "Oh, so you guys are just going to leave?" It was a Friday night, so I understand it gets busy, but at least give us some water and check in with us before 10 minutes goes by. We will be frequenting the downstairs bar, but won't attempt to go to Bite again.
My boyfriend and I went here for Easter Brunch. We got there at 12:30, so they were only serving lunch. When my boyfriend ordered the clam linguini, the waiter came out and said that the kitchen had run out of clams! To counter offer, they allowed my bf to choose from breakfast or lunch menu! The food came out very quickly. We also even talked to one of the chefs! Very pretty hotel as well.
My daughter and I really enjoyed the food here. We dined for lunch, and had fish tacos as an appetizer and the Kobe burger for our main course. The Kobe burger included all the fixings with a really great tasting bun. I loved the bacon relish on the burger. I usually don't care for fish tacos, but found these little bites really tasty. The dining scene in Tacoma leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion, but The Bite was well worth the trip to downtown. Enjoyed all the glass art in the hotel. We will definitely be back!
