Bisuteki Tokyo Japanese Steak House - Marriott Hotel Cambridge
Will definitely visit again. I brought my daughter here for her birthday along a party of 13. Food was awesome, staff was friendly and they were eager to store her cake until after dinner. Great atmosphere for sure!
Made a reservation for 6.30 pm, was only seated at 7 pm. Asked the staff why it was taking so long to seat us. His answer was, everyone here is waiting, you have to wait. And I asked, what is the point of making a reservation if I have to wait? His answer was, the table before you is not done. I cannot chase them away until they leave.
Back to my original question, what's the point of making a reservation then??????
Secondly, the restaurant name is a misnomer. Nothing about it is Japanese, except for the few sushi items on the menu. It is not a steakhouse either, it is a Teppanyaki restaurant. None of the chefs seem to be Japanese, they sounded like they are from China. Not even the staff looked Japanese. Never mind about that, the food was cooked with the same soy sauce throughout. Meat, seafood, veggies, were all fried with the same sauce. I think I can do a better job cooking... Only the fried rice was good.
I wouldn't return.
I was not that happy with what I got. The waiter seemed to give me and my friends bad attitude and rushed us most of the time. Also, one thing that I did not like was that they could not split the check. I was struggling to divide the check into a party of 8 with a total of around $225 on my birthday.
Don't make the same mistake that I made of ordering sashimi. It was disgusting. Some were a bit mushy and tasted the same even though they were different kinds of fish. But worst of all, one piece of fish tasted moldy. It was inedible. I complained to the server and all she said was tell me what kind of fish it was! A complete waste of money if you order sushi/sashimi. I did not try anything else but from this experience do not plan to return. The place was pretty busy for a Monday night (yes, I know, risky ordering sashimi on a Monday), but I was staying at the hotel and it was raining outside so was essentially a captive of my circumstances.
Perfect for children. If your expectations are middle of the road then you should be okay. Service could have been warmer and more hospitable. Quality of food was good and atmosphere was kind of drab.
Really enjoyed it here....can't believe I've never been here before and so close to Charlestown. We will be back!! Staff was awesome too!
This is our “favorite “ spot for special events and tonight it was anything but! The meal was below average as our filet mignon was downgraded to just below stew meat. Very disappointed. Even mentioned it to the server but our displeasure fell on deaf ears. Hoping to return to the “favorite” spot for a return to the quality we have been accustomed to.
We had a last minute reservation of a group of 25 - they responded at the last minute and everything was great. Everyone really had a great time!!!

We have been going to this restaurant for years now. Lately, when we show up at 9.15 PM they turn us down saying they are closed although closing time is 10 PM. Open table should not show 9.30 PM as a reservation slot if the restaurant is going to turn us down at 9,15 PM. It is disappointing since we have been a customer for years.
Air conditioning was not working very well.
I am very satisfied with the service from the excellent staff 5 stars plus for the chef very entertaining. Every one in group enjoyed the food
We went because my 3 year old nephew eats teriyaki chicken and rice. Food was fine, nothing special. Service was slow and inconsistent. Good portions for price
The restaurant is changing for the worse. Food portions are smaller and the hibachi show seems to be a bit rushed. Less tricks and customer interaction.
My husband, daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves! It was amusing when the chef was doing tricks, tossing food to the people and squirting water in their mouths. I liked the fact that he did all the cooking in front of us, that it was very different from any other restaurant I’ve been to.
We had a reservation at 8, were not seated until close to 8:45 and had to wait another 15 minutes to get menus and waters. It was almost impossible at first to get the attention of the staff. I normally really like this place and it's fantastic for large groups, but was extremely displeased at the service this time around.
They were very adaptive to my seafood allergy and cooked my food in the back, although my chicken was inedible because it was so over cooked. And my meal came out last out of everyone’s.

We were a party of 12 that were there to celebrate my fathers birthday. We had reservations and were sat on time. You would think a party of 12 would be there for 2 hours. Nope not us in and out in an hour. We felt rushed from the minute we sat down. The waitress even had the audacity to ask us to leave after we paid our $400 bill so the party of 26 that were waiting can be seated. We have been coming to bisuteki for years but after tonight we will never visit again.
Went on New Years Eve for dinner. Atmosphere was energetic & the Hibachi chef was very entertaining! Met some folks from NH. Had an all out awesome time!

Teppanyaki cooking isn't new on the Japanese restaurant scene, but this iteration seemed especially tired. The facility is OK, but the restaurant staff, especially tableside chef and wait staff, seem disinterested and very low energy. The food is pricey; quality is not equivalent to cost. Sauces that accompanied our meals seem to have changed since earlier visits; now both sauces taste very similar and seem like they came out of a jar. There is no longer a seasoned butter served with the white rice that comes with the meal, and, instead, there is an upsell to "fried rice" for a surcharge.
The food is good, and watching the chef's cook makes it even more exciting!
Hibachi grill is very entertaining to watch. But I don't like the food. It's greasy and everything is in teriyaki sauce or soy sauce, there is no variety there. The environment is fair, very loud with the grill on, hard to have a conversation during cooking.
This long standing Cambridge restaurant has waxed and waned in quality over the years. This visit was a wane. Service poorly attentive, but food was good as always.

Not good with food allergies - had to tell them exactly what I could and could not eat and to cook the food in the back and not with other people's food. Unable to use birthday meal on my dinner with my husband ordered a lunch special even though it was my birthday.
I've been to many Teppan-Yaki style restaurants and this one is definitely on the lower end when it comes to quality. They asked me how I wanted my filet mignon cooked. I asked for medium rare and they serve it to me well done regardless. The chef dropped his spatula and fork while twirling them. This was underwhelming.
A free birthday dinner tradition! A must for those that celebrate birthdays.
Was brought to the table right away but did not get even water until i requested it, 15 minutes in... then another 15 mins passed I had to ask if I was going to get served? Then after another 10-15 mins the waitress finally took my order. The cook was cooking with angry face the entire time. Food was good as always but service made me embaressed to his girlfriend!
A little disappointed in our chef we had the other night. He wasn't very lively and didnt give us the usual hibachi experience. The food was cooked perfectly and very delicious!
Food here is always so good, it's my go to after a long week and literally dream of it all day. Classic hibachi.... I always get the chicken and filet, 3 shrimp come with every meal so no need to order those!
Insider tip; TIP YOUR CHEF! The tip on your bill is for your server, in my opinion the chef is just as deserving, I always make sure they are handed a $20.

Really enjoyed this event with family. Everything wonderful. I have 2 suggestions: 1 please notify the customers of the MSG in the food since I did not sleep that night. I forgot about it being in Chinese food.
#2 We had a birthday and the gong is too loud to use for singing happy birthday. It is really unpleasant Please do not use it or use a much gentler, softer gong.
