Bistro Vida Ratings and Reviews
This is an authentic French Bistro! We were visiting Pali Alto from Chicago and found this place from the open table reviews. There is another French restraurant next door where the ambience looks newer, but the reviews were not as good.
We came early for dinner and were greeted by the owner. He is a charming, detailed and heart warming person. He has own this establishment for over twenty years and lives within walking distance. The food and staff are a reflection of who he is.
I asked for suggestions for what to order and he gave a balanced description of about five different dishes from various price ranges. We order the Steak Frites and the scallops risotto. Both were excellent. Wine was ordered based on the owners suggestions. Outstanding!!! We had the French onion soup , which was fabulous. My bowl was wiped cleaned when I finished. We splitter the chocolate Mousse for dessert. There were little flecks of chocolate within the mousse .YUM!!!
The whole experience including tip was $150. Worth every penny. I hope my business venture brings me back multiple times.
I generally don't take the time to write reviews unless my experience is exceptionally good or bad. I had a bad experience on may latest visit to Bistro Vida that I thought important to share. Granted it was a busy Friday night, but the service was truly bad. We didn't see our server until 20 minutes after we had been seated, and it took another 20 minutes for our drinks to come. The food was also slow and the entrees were so-so at best. And to top it off electronica dance club music was playing loudly in the background. Not the experience I was expecting at a French bistro, and I've been here 2-3 times before. Very disappointing overall and we likely won't be back.
Bistro Vida is one of our Go-To spots because it is very consistent in quality and service.
The food is very good, although quite rich. Last week it was hot, and we might have preferred more creative salads, but we were nourished quite well in true French style. Service was a bit slow, probably because of the large number of outdoor tables they were serving. However, as usual, the service was friendly and professional and knowledgeable.
We'll always enjoy going there!
This is a gem of a restaurant that exceeds all of my expectations--it's cozy, the ambience is romantic and there is an overall authentic vibe. Food was wonderful, great service, and there is no meal you can truly go wrong on! Whether this is date night, a casual dinner after a long day; or a special occasion, try this French dining! Merci!
Bistro Vida is ALWAYS excellent -- reliable enjoyable delectable neighborhood gem appreciated by locals and others who are lucky enough to dine there. If you want a terrific dining experience that entails really good food, generous servings, attentive staff and fail value, then Bistro Vida is where you belong. But we're biased, as well as fortunate, because we dine there regularly.
The food is good, the service is very friendly. We lunch in the outdoor space on Sunday, the weather was fine (not too hot), it is a nice place. Special thanks to the manager who offered me onions after asking what kind of onions are in the onions soup. The menu is classic menu you can find in France in a Bistro or in a Brasserie.
