I've been to this restaurant many times & it was great! This time they only had 1 server. The food wasn't hot, service was terrible. Waitress didn't write down order correctly.
Manager did us right on the check & gave us a future meal for two.
The food and the service were excellent. We really enjoyed the plentiful and delicious salads. The large dill shrimp with polenta entre was delicious, and perfect for anyone who prefers a lower calorie/carb diet without compromising on flavor. Portions were generous and presented well. We will definitely return.
It was nothing special. We went during restaurant week. The menu wasn't that great , the staff was a little too busy. I wasn't sure who the waiter or bus boy was. Everyone kept approaching the table not even giving us a chance to eat or enjoy the food . We were so rush we decided to just leave . Even though the place was quite empty. It was overwhelming.
First time we went to this restaurant, chosen because it's included in Restaurant Week, and has an excellent reputation from Trip Advisor. Well deserved rep. It was almost empty, so we had excellent service. I noted there were negative comments about service on other reviews, but I don't know how busy the restaurant was. It's in a hotel, and it is sort of open to people walking by, also rather noisy considering there were few diners. I had the mussels starter, my husband had the grilled Caesar, our entrees were the Arctic Char for me, and he had the the herb crusted rack of lamb, for dessert I chose the salted caramel cheesecake and Mr. had the apple blossom. The only items also on the regular dinner menu were the dessert choices. I have to say, I usually prefer the Restaurant Week menu to be regular offerings, but I was really pleased with my choices and my husband loved his. They should add those choices to their regular menu, in particular the mussels. We sampled each other's meals, and aside from the saltiness of the lamb and the current rage of salted caramel ( I am overly sensitive to salt) I loved the dinners we had. The portions are substantial; we took home part of our entrees, to leave room for the dessert. The only criticism I would have was the price of coffee, but they do give you your own French Press, and there is more than 2 cups of coffee in one container.
Good to see Bistro Z crowded on a Saturday night. The service is excellent and the food is stellar. Everything from ordinary roast chicken to Chilean sea bass to rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. And the best meal ordered was the gnocchi with fresh mushrooms. The gnocchi was melt in the mouth delicious. Only complaint, with so many nut allergies, DO NOT add nuts to your chocolate chip cookies (or have a choice with or without nuts).
Excellent food, excellent ambiance. Overall a fantastic meal.
We were staying at the hotel and decided to have dinner there before a concert. Restaurant is near hotel lobby and walkway to rooms.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious, but a bit pricey.
The service was exceptional. And the food as always delicious.
Had awonderful experience good food and service and and exceptional value
Valentine's Day at Bistro Z was very special. They have a three course special menu all week for $39.00. There were lots of choices. We had lobster/crab bisque, filled with lots of lobster and crab. I had duck and apple ravioli with sweet potato puree which was delicious. Main course for me was lobster tail and filet mignon with risotto and fresh vegetables. My friend had steak with potatoes and vegetables. Both mains were large portions and well presented and cooked perfectly. Dessert was a chocolate/hazelnut pyramid with caramel sauce, truly outstanding. To end it they gave us each a complementary glass of champagne. This chef is very inventive and always surprises us with his exciting choices. This is an unexpected gem hidden in the Doubletree Hotel. It was nice to have such a good meal and not have to pay the Valentine premium of $80-$90 that other restaurants were charging. They also have Groupons usually, which makes it even a better deal. Service is always friendly and prompt.
The Grilled octopus was a small but very tasty beginning. Both the Fusili with Shrimp & the Parmesan Gnocchi were nicely done in both how they were prepared as well as taste and portion size. I couldn't tell you about salad, or dessert and coffee *.
Regrettably, Bistro Z is one restaurant among many that will insist on leaving tables that seats 4 unused ( not set up ) and place a couple asking for more room (to accommodate winter garments) at a 2 seater. The larger tables remained unused and the two dners remained uncomfortable having to eat with hats on their laps....I would have actually had salad, desert & coffee * if I had not had to balance my hat on my knee. So for the "non-existent hoped for guests, actual paying customers spent less and left sooner." This never makes any sense. Having eaten at Bistro Z previously, I can state that this approach to seating is sadly a regular approach to seating GUESTS. By the way, the 2 unset tables remained empty and unused the entire time we were having dinner...a disappoint approach to customer service.
Liked it very good portions and taste!
Definitely a good hotel restaurant. They were bombarded with groups so our service was slow. The staff though was wonderful and the prime rib special on Thursday is well worth it.
The room, food and even the waitress were all fine. One complaint: slow service. As nice as she was, our waitress was slow in bringing our courses, and we watched other couples sit down after us and get their food sooner than we did. Probably not an on-going problem, but it was not a busy night, so it seems right to complain.
One of the few moderately priced restaurants open on Christmas day, this has been our 3rd or 4th visit. This time I felt the Special three course Holiday menu was exceptional, many interesting offerings in all catagories as well as the regular full menu. Prices are quite moderate and the wine list was also very serviceable and well priced, no price gouging here as in so many restaurants. Because Bistro Z is in a hotel, once we were done with our meal we could exchange gifts in the comfortable seating area in the lobby.
our waiter Jose was professional and accommodating.
Went with my family for a pre Christmas meal. We all ordered from the holiday menu. The Wagyu beef ravioli was delectable. The halibut I ordered was outstanding, the filet and lobster combo my family had looked and tasted great! The chocolate bomb I had for dessert was a great end to the meal. Service was great. Prices very reasonable. Will go back in the future!
The food is consistently well-prepared, attractively plated, and tasty. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Lots of fresh ingredients are used and the portions are fair and satisfying. I recommend the salmon and ravioli dishes, but I've never ordered anything I didn't enjoy. I would prefer less salt in my meal, mostly for health reasons, and the seasoning would be more than adequate with less sodium. The food here doesn't taste "salty" but I'd rather please my palate by adding my own if needed. That's my personal preference.
The food, the service... both were great. The dinner menu had a few unique items not commonly found. Everything was very fresh. Staff was friendly and patient. Great overall.
Rated as a top restaurant in Westchester, I was very disappointed with the ambiance. The food was excellent, the service could be better
While generally reliable, Bistro Z was not at its best on our last visit. The room was not crowded but the service was slow and two of four of us found our food very salty. Hopefully, it was just an off night.
Excellent as always
Christmas decorations are beautiful
Food was excellent-creative, well prepared and generous portions. Service was professional. Consistently good food.
The food and service was excellent. The cuisine was creative!
Typical Hotel decor, plain and boring. the food was actually quite good. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday night, and the parking lots were full. I was lucky to find someone leaving. there were many events going on at the catering halls.
Would I come back? No! If staying at the hotel, Yes. The local town is a short distance away with much better restaurants. we only picked this because they took our reservation at the last minute.
Good menu. Good service. Comfortable chairs. Easy parking.
Place does need a “buff and puff”.
good place even though it is in a hotel - consistent quality of food
Excellent food and presentation. Service was adequate not outstanding. Ambiance was borderline... the clientele were clearly transients since it is a hotel dining room. That is not to say that the diners were ill mannered or otherwise undesirable but they were dressed in the most casual of ways not what one would expect in a restaurant where the prices were on the high side.
A double celebration and we wanted a place that we knew would be consistently excellent. Perfection on a plate. Although the service could have been a bit more attentive. You can count on Bistro Z for fabulous food at relatively reasonable prices.
Was disappointed that my favorite waitress went home sick but the waiter was great as well
It is impossible to find parking at the Tarrytown Doubletree on a Saturday night if the hotel has a wedding booked. They have no agreement with nearby daytime businesses to share their lot. We searched their large lot for a spot for 20 minutes or more, parked way at back end of the hotel property, walked through wet grass (no pathway) to the hotel’s rear entrance, had to walk through a wedding reception to get to the lobby and Bistro Z. En route we were accosted by the parking attendant who called security about us because we expressed mild frustration & displeasure about the impossibility of funding a parking spot. The restaurant waitress was kind until we pointed out what she forgot to bring to the table and was angry with us because we asked a waiter to bring what she forgot. The food was almost good.
In a town with so many great restaurants Bistro Z is a waste of time & money. Try the RiverMarket Café instead. Ample parking, great ambiance, friendly & professional staff there, and the food is superb.
Excellent food and service as usual. Service this night was a little slower than usual.
So we booked this restaurant for a birthday, we also mentioned the reason as birthday from Open-table while booking our table. Usually when we mention the occasion the restaurant arranges for a small dessert and a candle to make the guest special. But unfortunately they didn't do anything to make the birthday guy special. So I think this restaurant needs to improve their customer service to please first time customers like us. We will never visit this place again. The food was really good but the service was not that great. Our waitress was Maria who was sweet and nice though but I guess she was not informed by the front desk lady (who manages the booking) that we came their for a birthday celebration.
Good food and service!
Good food. Great place to meet friends for a wonderful lunch.
A wonderful and varied menu. Great service and excellent value.
Best Gluten Free Pancakes I’ve tasted!
Will travel back to Tarrytown and Bistro Z just for them!
Service was beyond slow and not attentive. Bathrooms were not clean.
Simple but good. Prices very moderate. Food was decent. Service was acceptable. Not NYC standards but very close. Overall a good dining experience.
Delicious food beautifuly presented and served on hot plates. Excellent friendly service. Never ever fails!
