Typical Hotel decor, plain and boring. the food was actually quite good. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday night, and the parking lots were full. I was lucky to find someone leaving. there were many events going on at the catering halls.
Would I come back? No! If staying at the hotel, Yes. The local town is a short distance away with much better restaurants. we only picked this because they took our reservation at the last minute.
Excellent food and presentation. Service was adequate not outstanding. Ambiance was borderline... the clientele were clearly transients since it is a hotel dining room. That is not to say that the diners were ill mannered or otherwise undesirable but they were dressed in the most casual of ways not what one would expect in a restaurant where the prices were on the high side.
It is impossible to find parking at the Tarrytown Doubletree on a Saturday night if the hotel has a wedding booked. They have no agreement with nearby daytime businesses to share their lot. We searched their large lot for a spot for 20 minutes or more, parked way at back end of the hotel property, walked through wet grass (no pathway) to the hotel’s rear entrance, had to walk through a wedding reception to get to the lobby and Bistro Z. En route we were accosted by the parking attendant who called security about us because we expressed mild frustration & displeasure about the impossibility of funding a parking spot. The restaurant waitress was kind until we pointed out what she forgot to bring to the table and was angry with us because we asked a waiter to bring what she forgot. The food was almost good.
In a town with so many great restaurants Bistro Z is a waste of time & money. Try the RiverMarket Café instead. Ample parking, great ambiance, friendly & professional staff there, and the food is superb.
So we booked this restaurant for a birthday, we also mentioned the reason as birthday from Open-table while booking our table. Usually when we mention the occasion the restaurant arranges for a small dessert and a candle to make the guest special. But unfortunately they didn't do anything to make the birthday guy special. So I think this restaurant needs to improve their customer service to please first time customers like us. We will never visit this place again. The food was really good but the service was not that great. Our waitress was Maria who was sweet and nice though but I guess she was not informed by the front desk lady (who manages the booking) that we came their for a birthday celebration.
Aweful experience, waited for water , while 3 tables that arrived after us received water & drinks.
Restaurant was understaffed and waiter never checked -in to see how we were doing.
Cups were dirty & had to be replaced.
Very sorry we dined here because it was a special day , celebrating 3 generations in our family. And , all is us were unhappy with experience.
My wife and I returned to this restaurant since we always enjoy a good meal, I had the salmon dish with kale and potato, as my wife had the duck breast with mixed vegetables. The food was fabulous and cooked perfect.
Our waiter was on point and very attentive to our table. Will return and never had a bad experience at this establishment.
The Caesar salads turned out to be huge & very good. I enjoyed my salmon & my husband very much enjoyed his duck. However, he was disappointed in the tiny portion of the chocolate peanut butter cake that he ordered. Definitely not worth the cost, so the restaurant lost a star.
The chicken soup was totally tasteless so I sent it back. The Caesar salad dressing was a clump the consistency of mayo that was beyond salty. The salmon entree was just OK. The waiter kept disappearing and never asked if we needed anything. Overall it was a bad experience which I will not repeat.
The restaurant is off the lobby. Not an impressive space. BThey were quite busy and did not have enough staff. We waited a long time for drinks and to order. The wait was acknowledged and our first round of drinks was comp'd. Both the onion soup and crab cakes were very good as starters. I had duck which was a special and my husband had the strip steak as our entrees. Both were good. I would say prices were high without the use of a Groupon coupon.
Outdoor dining on a summer evening was nice, but once it got dark, we asked to be seated indoors, since we could not see our food (the small table candles that were provided when we asked about lighting weren't sufficient.). The restaurant offers a nice eclectic and sophisticated menu. Appetizers were good, but main courses, while attractive, were under seasoned, fish over cooked. Nevertheless, will try it again since we were impressed in the past.
This restaurant is just off the main lobby of the Doubletree Tarrytown. It has a lot going for it. Spacious, sunny room wit comfortable seating. Menu is good and Groupon deals add to the value of the visit. Service is cheerful and prompt. Adequate parking is a stone throw away. Having said that, the only thing of note is that the furniture and perhaps the hotel in general needs an investment in cleaning the (cloth) furniture. Noticeably dirty.
