Bistro Vendome - NYC Ratings and Reviews
I love Bistro Vendome. The food is always good, drinks well made (but wine is expensive) and I like the service. No one rushing us to leave early. I've been several times this month, mostly for Monday oysters, but I always get the artichoke salad and/or scallops or mussels.
From the moment I walked in, I felt I was in Paris. Amazing smells were emanating from the kitchen, and the very professional maître d' and waitstaff kept passing by with plates that looked delicious. Was hard to choose from many appealing menu options, especially since classic French specialties done authentically are hard to find in NYC nowadays.
We opted for wine by the glass, and both enjoyed our French red selections.
Everyone I have taken to this restaurant has loved it and wanted to go back.
After a very busy and cold Saturday, we were lucky to get a reservation (probably the last one for the evening) on Open Table for Bistro Vendome and it was a real treat to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal in comfortable surroundings and experience excellent service. It has become our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
I hadn't been to Bistro Vendome for awhile, and must say it'll be a long time before I return. I was disappointed in the coq au vin. The chicken was dried out and the sauce dark, but tasteless.
The service was friendly and professional.
I used to go to Bistro Vendome a couple of times a month and knew a lot of the staff. On Friday night I didn't see one familiar face. Which leads me to the obvious-has the restaurant changed ownership or management? If so, the quality of what used to be a friendly neighborhood restaurant will be sorely missed.
I did a search for a last minute brunch in the neighborhood and found this little hidden gem. The food was delicious and had the best flavor. I found the prices to be below average, especially for the quality of food I received. The gentleman running the front of house was the most attentive to the customers I have seen in a long time, not to mention I admired his choice in bow tie.
What appeared to be a small quaint restaurant from the outside was actually a rather large layout with many different setting options and atmospheres.
I will definitely be back when the weather is better to enjoy the terrace, and to try frog legs for the first time.
We got to NYC on Sunday and dined at Bistro Vendome because my wife was craving Dover Sole. Much to our surprise, they also have a fish soup that was the best we have had other than in France or the Caribbean. I had the escargot which were superb, and delicious frogs legs! We had planned to eat at another French restaurant the following Thursday, but we enjoyed Bistro Vendome so much, we cancelled the other reservation and dined there again. My wife had the marvelous fish soup again, and a crab cake special, while I enjoyed the escargot once again, followed by the sea bass. Both nights we enjoyed a very refreshing Chablis from the wine list. I would like to be able to comment on the deserts, but we were so full, we could only read them from the menu! We will be back.
We'd only been to the restaurant for lunch and brunch before (we love the skylight), but dinner was terrific and we will do it again soon. I thought I was going to have the mussels (6 versions) until I heard there was a tripe special. It was great. Rack of lamb was fine and chocolate fondant excellent.
I was looking for a delicious French restaurant in the city and stumbled on this place through searching on open table. It was absolutely delicious. We started with escargot and that was perfect. Then got ceaser salads that were huge and fresh. For main dishes we got muscles in the Thai curry sauce that were to die for. One of us got the salmon dish that was also fresh and cooked well. We also got the sea bass which was perfectly cooked, tasty and filling. We got the chocolate fondant for dessert which was amazing. Such a fabulous meal, fantastic service and we will definitely be back.
The food was very good. I always have the sewer line and that was good and my wife had the branzino - tasty. One of the reasons we went, was the memory of how delicious the escargot was – not this time. Tony and overcooked. 84 bucks a head, champagne 18 bucks a glass, and wth a good tip, 300 bucks for 2 for NY Eve dinner. It was worth maybe 200 total. Probably not going back if at all.
Bistro Vendome is a neighborhood favorite! The Belgian bistro fare is consistently great! Atmosphere is also very quaint, especially in the summer time if you can get an outdoor table on the terrace. Noise level is low - Good Place to hang out with friends to catch up. Food is always excellent! My favorites: fish soup, escargots, scallops - to die for!! Highly recommend!!
