   We sat at the bar. Catherine was our server, bartender and did her usual great job with wine recommendations and service. Food was extraordinary grouper over succotash for each of us and we shared a tomato mozzarella salad to start. No finer dining experience in Birmingham in my opinion. Saying a lot because Birmingham is a foodies heaven.

   Wife and I had dinner with another couple. Bistro V never ceases to fulfill my expectations. Wife had the fish of the day and cleaned her plate. I had the oyster salad that came with a generous portion of fried oysters, and was delicious. Highly recommend!

    Service was great. Two of our three meals were just okay. I have had the filet in the past and it was wonderful so I ordered it again. This time it was tough and overcooked.

    Bistro V is our go to place for fine food. Celebrated our Wedding Anniversary tonight. We were not disappointed. Excellent experience. We each had one of the specials on the menu for our entree (tortellini and the grilled fish.) Great service. Most highly recommended.

    This is our favorite restaurant and it is local. We often see friends. In our opinion, the ir is no better seafood anywhere and Jeremy is an outstanding seafood chef.

    Fish special of the day was red snapper, and it was excellent. My one complaint is how rushed I felt at the outset. I ordered a cocktail expecting it would come with time enough for me to enjoy it before my meal, which I ordered at the same time. When the cocktail arrived the entrée did too. I sent the plate back, and only signaled for it when I was nearly finished with the drink. The waiter was very understanding, fortunately. Why are restaurants all in such a rush all the time? Slow down! (I know, it’s turnover, gotta make that table pay, but geesh! I wasn’t there ten minutes and my meal was in front of me!)

    For the second night in a row we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. My Kiev Mule with Tito’s vodka was well mixed. Coming from the Emerald Coast of Florida, we took our waiter Charley’s advice and ordered fried crab claws for an app. Excellent recommendation. Both the salad with fried okra and my fried oysters salad were delicious. My wife had the Chilli Shrimp with cream corn. Superb and generous serving of fried shrimp. I loved the fettuccine with chicken, crawfish and other goodies. No fried desserts just a sharing of strawberry shortcake and blueberry cobbler. Should we return for a third night? Charley gave us a list of 3 other Ham restaurants he recommends. What a guy!

    Food and service were excellent. I wish I knew the name of our server because she did an outstanding job! There were 18 in my group, and I think every order was perfect and there were no complaints at all. She just did a super job!!

    Amazing food! We had the seafood gumbo, fried green tomatoes (served with green salad), fried oysters and shrimp w/remoulade, grouper w/summer succotash, and crab cakes (served w/green salad). Portions are generous - enough to share. Oh, forgot we also had the bread pudding (with ice cream & whipped cream). Service was great - no rush.

    This is our third time in 15 days & we live an hour away. Best service yet! Don’t recommend for lunch; they just get slammed so you wait a really long time for food & drinks & the food is lukewarm. Dinner is outstanding & makes us keep wanting to come here versus other places in Birmingham.

    We have eaten at bistro V many times. The food is usually good. It should be for the price. Last night’s dinner was average and the cocktails were below average. Our waiter was very nice but the host that sat us was the main reason for our poor experience. We finished our meal within an hour and we were approached by the host asking us how much longer were we going to sit there. Completely inappropriate. I understand that the restaurant was getting busy but we were not even there an hour. I’ve been a hostess before. That is NOT acceptable to ask your guests.

    This was our second time eating here but first time for lunch. Unfortunately they are at full capacity with people waiting to be seated because they are so popular for lunch. Therefore our experience was tainted negatively by the long wait for our food & drinks. My food was lukewarm (fried oysters & French fries) while my husband’s & sister’s were piping hot. Their website is not accurate. I wanted to order the oyster plate for $21 shown on their online lunch menu but the printed menu only had the dinner offering of the oysters ($30 oysters, slaw & fries). It was too much food. Will not return for lunch
