Bistro Two Eighteen
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Birmingham’s Financial and Theater District, Bistro 218 features side by side dining concepts.
Guests can enjoy a glass of wine or craft cocktail in our upscale casual bar room and indulge in a full bar menu under or proceed through the French doors into the main dining room and take pleasure in French classics paired with seasonally procured wines and local craft beers. Reservations are available in either room.
Ever changing menus are seasonal, with Gulf Coast influences and feature local foragers and farms supplying the best Alabama has to offer.
Bistro 218 honors the traditions of French bistros with minimalist decor in a historical setting. Dark Brazilian mahogany, high ceilings and exposed brick adorned with local art emanate a comforting yet elegant atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic dinner, a pre-theater meal or a relaxing night out.
The food and service were absolutely outstanding. The pork belly appetizer, West Indies salad, and file gumbo were all excellent. The scallops were out of this world. The rabbit was good, but I would order something else next time. Our wines and desserts were also fabulous. Finally, the wines and desserts were awesome. We'll definitely be back!
We made a reservation at Bistro 218 to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We were greeted and seated on time. The chef came out to welcome us and we were told we were at the best table in the house. The sever was very nice, and the food was EXCELLENT. My wife and I both ordered the BEEF WELLINGTONS and it was delicious. A starter of a seafood trio and a couple of cocktails came first. Delicious as well. We ordered a dessert of an apple spice cake that came with homemade cinnamon ice cream. SUPER GOOD! Coffee afterwards and we on our way to enjoy the rest of our evening. So, I say dress up-casual and go to Bistro 218. You will love it!
Very good place to enjoy very good food, Totally recommended!
This was our fourth time dining at Bistro Two Eighteen. Everything at Bistro Two Eighteen was perfect for my birthday dinner. They had a special table and birthday wish waiting at the table when we arrived. They were prepared to meet my food allergy restrictions without compromising on the taste; all of our dishes were amazing. Per usual, the service and timing of dishes was impeccable. Looking forward to returning again.
This is one of our favorite spots. The food and service this time was fair but not the normal spectacular experience we had in the past. We will be back. My guess is that they may have been understaffed that night.
The food was excellent and the and service was unmatched!
This was probably the best service experience we have had in Birmingham. Food was excellent but the entire staff really goes out of their way to make you feel like a welcome and important guest. Top notch service and food and we will definitely go back many more times.
Food was good , but portions small and still left hungry. Had beet salad and beef medallion with three regular shrimp. Really nothing unique , and my wife had 1/2 snapper . It was like tapas with full size pricing. It’s good , but It’s not one of my recommended restaurants .
The food here is excellent. We had a late reservation so had a little wait as the people ahead of us lingered. The staff was very friendly. We ate upstairs which was pleasantly quieter so we could converse more easily. My mussels were absolutely delicious although not very numerous, and the wedge salad was also very tasty.
First time to 218. Awesome place, and excellent food. A must go!
One of our favorite hidden gems in town! Get the bone marrow, you're welcome!
Food was exquisite. I ordered the rabbit and It may have been my favorite dish in Birmingham so far! Waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the dishes and was a big help. Ambiance was very romantic for our anniversary. My compliments to the chef and the whole staff for a lovely evening.
Excellent food and excellent service. Never disappoints!
The food and service were excellent as always.
This restaurant has a great atmosphere. The gumbo was very good, but I was very disappointed in the wilted spinach. Apparently, the chef forgot to wash it; therefore, it was gritty. Needless to say, it made me self-conscious about the remaining vegetables.
Great food! Expensive!
Great service and wonderful food. Will go back often.
Food was good and we enjoyed the service and ambiance
John was great! Food excellent.
Perfect evening! We celebrated with friends and could not have asked for a better evening. Relaxed - not rushed. Food was delicious - all 3 courses!
We were greeted like we were royalty. The service and food were wonderful. Great place to eat
before a show.
We always enjoy Bistro 218 with a big group before going to the theatre. This time it was just the two of us so we decided to try new dishes since we have more time. The Chef Tom came over since he had seen us often and chatted. Since we had tried most of the main dishes, he suggested the prime burger. OMGosh it was excellent !! Highly recommend it when you want excellent comfort food.
Wonderful experience! We had a show to go to and all the staff were aware and made sure we were on time but not rushed with our dinner. Excellent food and very helpful with wine and food choices. Highly recommend.
We were placed at a table very close to the kitchen - we heard everything going on in there - lots of plates banging - a distraction that was not needed
We are New Yorkers with high bar for restaurants! Over the last two year, we have dined a number of times at Bistro Two Eighteen with our local and out of town friends. Our experience has been consistently outstanding and totally satisfying in every way! Bistro Two Eighteen stands out among the top restaurants in Birmingham. We hope to enjoy it for years to come.
A neat atmosphere in an old, downtown storefront. The lighting is set low but not so low that you can’t read the wine list and the menu. No loud background music and the noise level was good. Not formal but everyone in dressy casual and no “loud talkers”.
The wine list is pretty big and a lot of wines by the glass. We weren’t familiar with any of the wines by the glass and the waiter offered us a taste before we ordered. My snapper was perfect and my wife’s soft shell crab was outstanding. She especially appreciated the chef changing the sauce and vegetables that was listed on the menu.
Food was good. Service uneven and long wait between apps and entree.. no explanation of same. Was not terribly busy so don’t know why..
The food and experience are always superior. Bistro has a number of mainstays on its menu that are always outstanding (gumbo, risotto, fish and beef entrees) as well as seasonal changes. Great place.
The food and service was great! The restaurant is beautiful with great music.
Everything was wonderful - shrimp, beef, rabbit and crab cakes. Good wine and cocktail.
Took my husband and family for his birthday celebration. Everyone loved their food and our server was amazing! They also served a very difficult wine to find these days that we love!! Will be back!
Wonderful evening. The service was excellent as well as the food.
Always great cocktails, very well prepared and presented food. Fresh extremely well prepared soft shell crab Saturday - Excellent!!
Great food and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back
The meal was one of the best we have ever had in Birmingham. Atmosphere is outstanding. No cramped feel to the restaurant and the the servers were very pleasant and very familiar with menu.
Mitchell was an attentive and informative server, and Chef Tom Saab again delighted our palates with his creativity.
Service could have been a little more personal
Rather loud for not being crowdedness
Great service, Good menu that is well executed. Dessert menu is awesome.
Great food great ambience chef Che is awesome
Every time It’s so consitent. This time we had first timers join us and they too were very pleased. A great dining environment and the food is always so fresh and delicious.
