RIP--ate there on one of the last nights - the chef came around, his dog was also there. The bathroom was neat and I wish I had eaten there more in the past

Our favorite special occasion, Bastille Day and restaurant for great French cuisine. The closing "restaurant week" menu had all of the great dishes, not to mention desserts that we have always loved there. Will look forward to their reopening at a new location as walking through the closed and under renovation Marketplace for our last dinner there was very sad.

We came for one last meal before Chef Patrice closes at the Market Place Design Center. We were not disappointed. My husband, usually a solid steak eater, got the scallops because the Bistro is the only place that the scallops are consistently fabulous-never chewy or overcooked. I had the duck, which was cooked to perfection.

The restaurant is still serving the 3 course restaurant week special. So I started with the mushroom soup. I love this mushroom soup. I first had it at the Bistro for Thanksgiving several years ago. This soup is perfection-delicious and soothing. My husband, who has had escargot in many, many restaurants, declared the escargot he had at the Bistro the best he's ever had.

And the St. Tropez cake for dessert was divine. Light and chocolatey-pure deliciousness without being heavy. I really, really hope Chef Patrice finds a new place soon. Until then, we'll dream of the many amazing meals we had there.

We celebrated Valentines Day by having dinner at Bistro St. Tropez. We ordered from the Valentines Day Prix Fix menu. The portions were small but the food was good. The view from the restaurant was beautiful. The service was good and we enjoyed our night out.

The night was full of ups and downs. Difficult to find the restaurant as it is in the middle of an abandoned shopping center under construction. Once we got seated, the view would have been great had the windows not been entered fogged up. The meals were actually very good. The lamb, duck and risotto dishes were all pleasing to the group. But then the dessert was disappointing and we ate it anyway because we weren't quite full after dinner. Granted it was a cold evening, but the bathrooms were freezing. A lot of the negatives had to do with the building and overall environment, and the positive was definitely the food. They ran out of the chocolate dessert which was a shame because I'm sure it would have better than the white chocolate and creme brulee that was served. I heard that the chef/owner is looking for a new location which is definitely a good idea, otherwise we won't be making another trip to bistro st tropez. :(

I decided to come here with my partner for Valentine's Day weekend. I was so sad to find out that they will actually be closing after this month though, because I really enjoyed the food and the experience overall. Great food and ambience; glad I came before the end!

Cutting to the chase, the cost of this dining experience was extremely inflated. We payed Michelin star prices for a meal experience reminiscent of a $40 dollar NYC midtown theatre pre-fixe.

1. After ordering our food, the waiter never once checked on its preparation or how we were enjoying it. We poured our own wine for the duration of the meal. Again, no big deal, but at $120 per person (with a cheap bottle of wine), I like to expect some degree of attentive service.

2. We waited 45 minutes for our entree, which was mediocre. The restaurant is extremely understaffed and it shows painfully. We received two desserts consecutively, only to have the second taken from our table when they realized they had over-served. (The exorbitant price - $68 per person - only gets you and your partner a shared mousse and grape-sized portion of sorbet.) There is no organization or professionalism here

3. Returning to the crux of my complaint, the value of this meal is abysmal. This is faux-fine dining. For a shot glass of soup, two minuscule courses, and a shared dessert, you will pay an arm and a leg. If you are willing to look past the racket they are running at Bistro St. Tropez, then you will enjoy your time here. Coming from Manhattan, I am used to paying a premium on dining, especially during holidays. I've spent three-times what I've spent per person on this meal and felt satisfied. Here, I felt robbed.

4. The restaurant is located in what is essentially the fourth floor abandoned construction site The dining quarters are cramped and the decor is outdated and uninspired. Only a neon sign on the other side of the restaurant provided any semblance of ambience.

Ultimately, we left feeling dissatisfied, hungry, and taken advantage of. After a post meal discussion, we learned other diners felt similarly, confessing to us that they were heading to grab take-out Chinese food after their meal. Please do yourself and your date a favor and avoid this so-called "bistro."

Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. They were so very busy because of Valentine's Day crowd that we had to wait just a little bit, but they tried so hard to provide excellent service it was easy to overlook the wait. Lovely presentation and perfectly cooked food.

When I reserved for this particular date I didn't give a thought to its being Valentine Weekend; I was simply booking a dining venue for after the museum and before the opera. Consequently, there was a prix fixe limited menu. So prices ran a bit high, but the meal was superb, the service was delightful, and the view of the Schuylkill and eastern University City awe inspiring.

Attended lunch with some co-workers. We arrived and the restaurant was nearly empty. I think it was just at the start of their lunch service, so by the time we left, the restaurant was full. Our server was very friendly and entertaining; however, he was not overly-attentive after we ordered. For 4 people, our lunch took almost 2 hours, and when we were finished with our dishes, there was no server around to call for help to move on with the meal. The food was good, but I would not necessarily be inclined to go back based on this experience. I had the crevettes for an appetizer. The shrimp was a little over cooked and the rice was a little under cooked. My salmon was delicious, but the curry sauce that went along with it was underseasoned. For my co-workers, they ordered the omelet, and both agreed that it was too salty, and the salad that came along with was composed in a way that was difficult to eat. The view was nice, though, and we did have a fun time.

the hostess sat us at the last table before the bar and servers walkthrough so it was a lot of movement from the servers, and guests going to and from the rest rooms...we were able to choose from the restaurant week menu which will be ongoing since the bistro is closing...nice variety...the calamari appetizer was presented in a small tureen and was mushroomy and tasty...the salad looked fresh and disappeared quickly from my partner's plate..my lamb shank was perfect and came with mashed potatoes and a few carrot slices...my partner wasn't very pleased with his hanger steak, but he had many other choices like salmon and chicken and veggie dishes...we both enjoyed the banana pastry for dessert...our waiter was attentive

Despite the snowstorm outside, this place was buzzing! Noise level was a bit more than I usually like but the service was prompt and the food VERY good. We were there for restaurant Week and I was pleased that they had quite a large menu compared to most places during this week. No one was disappointed. I am planning to go back. Conveniently located walking distance from 30th street station.

Memorable dishes... Familiar and comfortable takes on exciting, novel ingredients. Unique enough to be new and exciting, familiar enough to try.

Some prime examples...
-Escargot in a mushroom sauce.
-Cavier with salmon and a bell pepper coulis

Enjoyed the meal quite a bit, but the restaurant seemed a little tight or cramped.

The food is classic French prepared with a lightness. Bread is served with a basil oil that's
addictive. Excellent menu and very fairly priced. For the quality a bargain. View of the river and excellent service. A family event favorite.

We went for restaurant week so the price was great for a tasting menu. The service was very good and the view of 30th street station was great but the food wasnt quite as good as I expected it to be. The lamb was delicious but I wasnt really crazy about the rest of the meal. Also, the restaurant itself was romantic, but having to go through a lobby that was so under construction we thought we were lost and a buyers-mart-like area definitely did not inspire confidence.

Four of us dined at Bistro St Tropez during Center City restaurant week in January. The participating restaurants offer a three course menu for $35. Their special menu was imaginative with a variety of choices. It was difficult to choose with such a great selection. I believe our waitress mentioned that it consisted of their classic or favorite dishes. The food did not disappoint. My friend mentioned that the escargot was the best she had ever had. It was not the typical garlic and butter sauce, much tastier. Our waitress was very helpful, did not rush the meal as can sometimes happen during restaurant week. She also encouraged the kitchen to agree to a partial change to the menu for one of our party. We all enjoyed a relaxing evening with good friends, excellent food and wine, and great service.

Matt was fabulous. However, his ebullient charm did not make up for the strange journey through a construction zone to get to a 4th floor restaurant in a trade building. Food was just ok...I've had rustic, yet lighter and tastier chicken livers. The saumon in puff pastry lacked a certain je ne sais quoi...But, the profiteroles were OUTSTANDING!
They are moving to Manyunk...maybe the change has upset the kitchen?
