The food was great as usual. The service was good too.
The only thing they have changed is they now have paper napkins. For the type of dining experience and the cost of the food. I think they should have kept the cloth napkins.
I know I sound picky, but when you spend $175.00 for a table of 4 in Southeast Missouri, I think cloth napkins should be a given. Thanks
Wish there were more open table restaurants in the Cape Girardeau area
We loved Bistro Saffron. Food is so creative, and always great! Wonderful sushi choices!
We were in the mood for great sushi and Bistro Saffron has it under the capable design of Paula. Paula creates amazing sushi rolls not on the menu that will leave you wondering why you ever settled for California rolls. She asked us if we liked shrimp (we do) and how many rolls we wanted. We then allowed her to surprise us. The sushi most definitely did not disappoint!
I always enjoy visiting Bistro Saffron when I am in Cape for business. Often I am by myself. I am always welcomed as an old friend and made to feel comfortable. I enjoy the healthy fresh menu.
The food was phenomenal, as usual! The service is very attentive.
Our party of 7 secured reservations through Open Table. We arrived promptly for our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. We started off with 2 orders of Saffron Toast (which our waitress recommended) for an appetizer. The bread is crusty with a sweet taste, the cucumber relish added on top gives the toast a nice spice level. The consensus of the group was the items we all ordered were tasty but we all longed for more flavor and seasoning. We ordered a variety of menu items including Pan Stemmed Dumplings (I was told this item tastes more like fried dumplings and not the stemmed kind she was hoping for but still tasty). Also ordered was Chef's Fried Rice (good but bland). 2 orders of lettuce wraps (good but bland). Salad with Ginger Dressing (delicious). 2 orders of Eclipse Sushi Rolls (delicious). Octopus Salad Sashimi (delicious nice flavor level). Child's portion of fried rice. 2 Orders of Miso Soup (average Miso Soup, still yummy). We did not order dessert. 5 stars for the staff they are wonderful. 5 stars for atmosphere. 3.5 stars for the food (well prepared but a few items were just too bland to be memorable). Overall, I would still go again and recommend Bistro Saffron.
I always enjoy having a meal here when I am in Cape. I feel recognized and welcome. The food is wonderful.
I enjoyed the food and had great aervice
We had lunch and dinner there and the food was excellent, the waitress very attentive and the atmosphere very nice and one cna sit inside or outside weather permitting. Highly recommended.
This was a birthday celebration for a friend. Our waitress Megan K. was GREAT! She made the night very special for her!
I booked Saffron for Valentines day with my husband and we absolutely enjoyed our dinner. The ambiance and food make for a great date night! Thank you to the wait staff for a great experience! We will recommend Saffron to our friends and family
Great Thai food. Delicious sushi. Service has always been outstanding
We had house guests who wanted sushi for dinner. Our 12-year experience has been that Saffron has consistently good sushi, and we have had sushi in Japan and everywhere from NYC to SF. Brian, the long-time manager, was the sushi chef. We ordered off the menu chef's-choice sushi dinner for four. The first course was a tuna tartar salad with red and white tuna, followed by a sashimi platter with red and white tuna, salmon, yellow tail, and avocado. All the sashimi was high quality, very fresh and tender. This was followed by a series of unique makizushi (rolls) a la Brian. The entire experience was excellent from beginning to end, including a junmai ginjo from their sake list. Brian asked for a critique, but we were speechless with satisfaction. We briefly considered their signature dessert, fried ice cream, but we were already quite full.
Great sushi, food was awesome overall. Service at times felt like they forgot about us. But it was a great time, asked for no seeds on something, they went above and beyond to accommodate.
My husband and I hadn't eaten at Saffron's in a number of years, so since we were in town for an appointment we decided to give it a try. We used to love the Panang beef. This time we ordered it though it was fairly disgusting. It had a strange, unsavory tang to it, an overt tomato flavor and the beef was tough and rather chewy. Not at all like it used to be. That said, the service was good and we were there at 3:30 pm, a time when restaurants in general aren't always at their best. In any case, though, I don't think we will be back for another long while. On the bright side, our server was very nice and attentive.
We enjoyed an excellent dining experience at this independent restaurant. The food is incredible. The wait staff is as knowledgable as they are attentive and fun. This is fast becoming our go to restaurant for special occasions.
Very good Asian fare. Warm welcoming staff. I enjoyed my meal.
Great service and good food. One of the best restaurants in Cape
Great food as usual
Excellent food and great service, wonderful place to go for date night
I have no qualms with the food itself. It was good. Nothing extraordinary though. The service seemed almost too attentive at first, not even allowing us time to order. Then, once we'd made our selections and put down our menus, our waiter didn't appear for more than 10 minutes. Quite the mood killer... if the mood wasn't already killed by the lack of any notable atmosphere, the boisterous clientele, or the mere fact there was a drive through window...
I paid almost 90 dollars for some halfway decent food. If you're planning to spend that much money on dinner, go somewhere else.
Had the beef Massaman before and it was very good. Last night it was even better than I remember. One of the best beef dishes I have ever had anywhere. It handily beat comparable bistro entrees in metropolitan areas I have been to.
We recently had a wonderful dinner here. My fiancé does a great deal of cooking and catering, and she was impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. I have eaten here before and have always been impressed by the food and waitstaff. A really great place to dine. The plum wine we had greatly complimented our meal.
There is a great selection, good food, nice atmosphere all things not really found at many places in the area.
Our family loves Saffron and try to eat there 1 to 2 times per month. It is affordable, the wait staff is great and the food is always top notch. Craft beers, fun desserts and a stable wine list are all pluses as well.
Appetizers had great flavor. Had tempura, lettuce wraps and a rainbow roll. Special was seafood pad Thai and three of us ordered it. It was very good.
Great service--good food. Even though the area you would not think would be for a decent Sushi restaurant, it was pretty good and tasted fresh. I would go back again. It was a little pricey compared to other places I have been to.
I ordered pad Thai with shrimp, a whopping three dollars extra for shrimp that came out cold. The rice noodles were largely absent. Instead I had a large plate of bean sprouts which had never been near a wok.
This place used to be really good, but has become marginal at best. The food comes out barely warm, and although our server on this night was attentive, oftentimes service is lacking of late. Bottom line--this place needs more servers, including those whose job it is to deliver the food when it is ready, not when an overworked server gets to it.
Saffron has a wide variety of menu items with a great range of prices that can work for any budget. The food is always tasty and the servers pleasant.
Excellent experience. Only negative thing I can say is that we were seated at the table right next to the entrance of the kitchen. Restaurants similar to this typically comp your appetizer or give you a free dessert. We weren't upset at all, though.
I made a reservation, but the restaurant was not open.
The food was well prepared and the prices are reasonable. Huge menu!
This restaurant has incredible quality sushi and sashimi. The service is excellent and the remainder of the menu is just as incredible as the sushi selection.
I was there for lunch and it did not take long for us to receive our food. At dinner, we waited over an hour to get our entre. Surprisingly, the amount of food was no larger than lunch, just more expensive.
My spouse and I travel to southeastern Missouri a couple of times a year and always make a point of dining at Saffron. Lovely interior space, attentive service, and excellent food with an Asian emphasis. Excellent and diverse menu. Probably not a great place for small children, but for everyone else, a genuine pleasure.
Loved this place. The food was great and it was perfect for the occasion.
