The food was authentically French-Bistro and delicious. My French Onion Soup and Steak Frites (yes, I am pretty traditional) were great (fries might have been a tad crispier, but they were perfectly salted.)
We were a little suprised at the bill -- it seemed pricey for the 'burbs, fit more for the city. The food, however, was as good as any you would find in the city, so we didn't really mind. We would go back again and bring kids next time.
Good food but rather expensive for a casual night out.
We were a party of five women - everyone ordered different entrees and everyone finished their meal - evidence of the excellent food. The service was GREAT - our servers were polite and very attentive but not intrusive. I plan to go back and recommend it highly.
We've been here quite a few times, but on our most recent visit they had coq au vin on the menu as a special and it was amazing! It's one of my favorite dishes and they prepared it very well. I hope to see this again on future visits because it was delicious!
Excellent in every way. Can't wait to go back.
We were there for a family birthday. The service was attentive and there was something on the menu to please everyone from our picky 14 year old to our gourmet 21 year old.
We have been at the Bistro Rollin once before and I must note that their soups are absolutely delicious. The food is excellent as well. My wife and I are not too fond of the desserts though. I would recommend this place to a friend and we will definitely be going back, for the food NOT the service. They are notably understaffed, which is why we needed to ask for our water to be refilled twice and for another glass of wine.
I have not been to as fine of a Restaurant in a long time.
From the owner Barbara to the waiter John to the excellent food to the comfortable, pleasant, charming atmosphere, our
wedding lunch was perfect.
Our former neighbors love Bistro Rollin and now so do we. I only wish we lived closer and could eat there more often.
Our thanks to everyone at Bistro Rollin. You made our special event very special.
The staff was accommodating & quickly provided a table in a great spot, with a high chair for our unexpected baby guest. The delicious food was served quickly, professionally, and beautifully. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive. We lingered, and everything was perfect.
Try the pates and escargot. The latter has a slightly unique finish. The mussels, hanger steak, and skate were great too.
A taste of France without having to go travel very far. Food is excellent and the prices are fair. The owners pay attention to the service and the staff is well trained. Wine list has some very nice selections.
My friend and I went to Bistro Rollin for the first time. We had brunch. We were very impressed and look forward to returning. The food was very good and beautifully presented. Our table for two was large and comfortable. Merci, Bistro Rollin.
The food is good but not great and the menu is your basic what you'd expect but nothing special. Their biggest issue (and I've eaten there a number of times for dinner and now brunch) is that their timing is off. Food that should be delivered hot is warm at best. They can't seem to get all the elements ready at the same time and so the experience suffers. This last visit my omelette was lukewarm (not great for eggs) but the fries were smoking hot. Their pates are consistently very good, and thankfully don't need to be served warm.
Bistro Rollin has become a go to restaurant when you want a good meal on short notice. Waitstaff is excellent and the food is always what you expect it to be. Keep doing what you are doing.
The restaurant over reaches. The ingredients listed on the menu aren't easily understood and often not accurate. It's their perspective, not a customers. The host wasn't there to great us when we came in and the servers going about the front area seemed confused on how to great the guests.
We need more restaurants like this one to save Westchester residents a trip to Manhattan.
I had the most AMAZING quiche I have ever had! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Ambience was wonderful and the waiter couldn't have been more attentive!
We LOVE this neighborhood gem! We try to go every month...or two. We've eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and thoroughly enjoyed each meal. We couldn't ask for more!
The wine list was excellent, the prix fixe menu was very reasonable, the hanger steak was perfect and the profiteroles are the best dessert in NY.
Stopped in Paris on the way home two weeks ago and couldn't wait to get to Bistro Rollin for some good French food! We sat on the sidewalk screened by a lovely planter. We took advantage of the no corkage Wednesday (summer) nights to celebrate with champagne and a nice Vouvray from home. The watermelon salad served on greens with smoked prosciutto and a balsamic reduction was a great starter as is their signature frisee salad with poached quail egg. The skate was beautifully prepared with capers the size of olives - very tasty. The classic roasted chicken is always a great choice. If the corm ice cream is available you MUST try it. The service was friendly (not overly so) and attentive. Nice to be home!
The Sunday brunch at Rollin never fails to please. The croque-madame was delectable; the eggs benedict, while not quite as good, were still more than passable. The bloody Mary could've used more horseradish and less Tabasco, but that's a personal preference.
Never had lobster roll with tarragon before, and I will never have it again.
Average bistro fair,
We went for lunch on our anniversary last year and I frankly was kind of disappointed. My son had the mussels and said they were old and overcooked. My dh had the lobster roll and it was nothing great. I had an omelette also not special. there was nothing wrong with the food but it did not live up to the reviews we had read.
I love the restaurant - I just think that the ambiance is very dark -- a little down. I would suggest white paper used over the black table cloths -- this way you can roll them up and toss them when new diners sit down -- would brighten up the look. Otherwise the restaurant is perfect ---
I've been there once before and was not a huge fan of it. We thought that the food was ok and quite pricey; however after this experience I am completely turned. I loved it, the food was amazing, the service was great and the wine was great. I can't wait to go back, I highly recommend Bistro Rollin.
For a restaurant calling itself a "bistro", there are high expectations that they execute the standard "bistro" dishes flawlessly. Bistro Rollin succeeds by offering a hearty serving of pate, perfectly ripened tomatoes and melons for a memorable tomato salad to start and a jiucy rosted chicken accompanied elegantly with mushrooms and fava beans.
Perfect for lunch. The quiche Provencal got rave reviews, and the salmon and goat cheese omelet was delicious. Both came with a green salad - just the right amount of food. The only minor complaint - the waiter seemed to disappear when it was time to get the check.
The food was well prepared and tastey. Great ambiance and impeccable service. You're treated right at Bistro Rollin!
We enjoyed our lunch at Bistro Rollin very much. The melon/tomato salad was wonderful. The shrimp salad sandiwch was very good as well. The atmosphere was pleasant and the outdoor dining area is very inviting too. The service was excellent.
Welcoming, warm and friendly. Always a good choice!
Hooray for sweet corn ice cream! Also, the chicken liver pate was light, tasty, and generously portioned. Always glad to eat there!
I love this place but the wait staff is a bit lacking. No big complaints but it's nice to go to an authentic French restaurant and have some French speaking staff.
First, they did not bother to check my reservation upon arrival. In their special menu they offered a soup which they did not have...then the servers seem to have been in training. The waiter no matter how pleasant was not taking down our orders and brought an entree which I do not think my date ordered. When the bill came I was charged for the wrong entree they brought. It was a date so I did not challenged it. Very disappointed. French restaurant, well, I have to think twice about it. Far from it.
Wonderful restaurant, terrific service.
We always enjoy our meals at Bistro Rollin whether it be dinner, lunch or brunch. The food and service is outstanding.
Rollin is one of our favorite local restaurants; when IHOP had an hour wait for a table, we decided to check out their Sunday brunch for the first time. The $25 prix fixe included any breakfast item, a cocktail, juice and coffee. (Any of the entree-type items on the brunch menu may be had for $5 extra.) David's French toast with strawberries and pistachio crema was outstanding. We will indulge in this brunch again.
My husband and I live in Scarsdale and have been looking for a fabulous food experience since we moved from NYC four years ago. Well, this is it. French food with a modern twist and flavors that never stopped coming. When the wine we selected wasn't available, they came back with a recommendation that was even better and took pride in telling us it was less expensive to boot. Bistro Rollin is a must!!!
We've been to Bistro Rollin several times and found their food and service to be very good and consistent - ergo several visits. However, our last visit was a big disappointment. Our Father's Day reservation was last minute but the restaurant was accommodating, the seating was prompt, and the host friendly. We settled in for a nice early-ish dinner. Unfortunately, that's when the trouble began. A couple of menu items on the menu were already out; we waited and waited while tables around us were served; 3 of 4 entrees were bland, the service was sloppy, and the kitchen was slow. I'll give them another chance, because the food was very good the first few times, and I'm hoping my last visit was merely a "hiccup."
