Bistro Roca and Antlers Bar Ratings and Reviews
This is a classic Blowing Rock restaurant. Nice menu and a great atmosphere. We had a wonderful salad, pizza, and entree. The oyster appetizer was less than impressive due to the small size of the oysters. I literally could not taste any oyster. However, I should have known not to order oysters 300 miles from the coast. Go with the local trout dishes, meats, or veggies. Great place and will be back.
I must first say that this is one of our very favorite restaurants in the High Country. We visit two or three times a year and it's always a part of our trip to Blowing Rock. We've always been very happy with our experience. The food is creative, festive, and incredibly delicious.
We had a good time. We were able to take the kids, 9 & 13, and find food they would eat plus have quality options for the adults. We are able to walk here from our place so that makes it super convenient. I love the atmosphere and the soft lighting. It’s a very comfortable place to unwind. It took awhile to get our food but it was a Saturday night so that’s very understandable. We made reservations and got set promptly which is great when you kids with you. We will be definitely be back time and time again!
This was our first visit in several years. The parking is very limited! The service was good. The menu could use some work. They really need another steak besides the ribeye on the menu. Two in our party got the ribeye, which was very chewy and stringy. The drinks were good as was the dessert.
Our server Luke was not very attentive. My husband ordered the flat bread with the sausage and he received two small pieces which is about half the size of one of the other times we had been there. I was particularly disgusted with my meal in the fat that I had a brussels sprout salad with total of five very small brussels sprouts cut in half with one slice of prosciutto and some roasted squash about 2 to 3 pieces. It was 14 freaking dollars. The salad also had a small amount of kale but a large three Muskateer bar could have easily covered the size of my portion for $14 and no Protein. This used to be one of our favorite places to go but the menu has changed to where it’s more funky and the portions have been cut dramatically and they have raise the prices. Can’t say that I’ll be coming back anytime soon.
Dined here with a date after having been a few times previously with family. Excellent service, excellent food, great ambiance at very reasonable prices. After I ordered trout for the entree and my date ordered a salad, the waitress helpfully suggested changes to the timing of bringing out dishes and sides so that neither of us would have to stare at the other one eating. Location features easy parking but is only 2-3 minutes away from main street downtown. Highly recommend to couples and families for a 'nice dinner' that won't break the wallet while visiting Blowing Rock.
We had a reservation at 1:30 on Saturday. Arrived a little early and got a table right away. we ordered within 10 min and then waited until 2:40 pm before we got our food. literally waited over an hour for lunch which consisted of two salads, a pizza and a bowl of mac and cheese. during that hour wait, the waiter came and refilled our water glasses once and never once offered any explanation about why meal was taking so long. finally after waiting an hour, we asked to speak to the manager - he said he apologized for the delay - it had been a busy day and they were just slow. crazy wait, poor service and average food. i would not recommend to anyone.
As usual, the meal was phenomenal. Service wasn’t quite up to its usual standards, but acceptable. This is one of my wife’s and my favorite place to go for a special getaway meal. I can honestly say that we have never had a bad meal here! Also, using Open Table we were able to avoid a lengthy wait!
New menu was being tried. Not such a great idea on a Saturday night. Great waiter but waited a VERY long time for food and a full thirty minutes between when two orders came and the other three arrived. One order was wrong item. The manager comped us two desserts and took off the wrong order and a pizza that arrived so late. Just not a great experience and we felt bad for the waiter, he was trying his best.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We requested a special table as we were entertaining friends. We were seated by the fireplace, which was nice. The food, was mediocre, good, but not seasoned enough for anyone's taste at my table. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but if a lady is at the table, she should be addressed first and her food and drink should arrive first, if all the food and drink can't arrive Together, which would be preferable.
We have visited Bistro Roca many time over the years and the last couple visits have felt that they are slipping in food preparation. We were satisfied with the appetizer spreads and the salad but the corneal crusted trout just tasted like heavy cornmeal. have had disappointments in the entries on too many recent visits.
Probably the best meal we've had in Blowing Rock in the last year. Hangar steak was perfectly prepared - tender and tasty. Habi burger was large, juicy and spicy. Lobster mac-n-cheese was a meal in itself. Service was solid, wine selection was spot on and price didn't break the bank. Can't say enough about our experience. 5 stars!
