Bistro Roca and Antlers Bar Ratings and Reviews
It’s a cute place but the food was okay at best. I ordered the black and blue and the food was cold. The blue cheese on top of the steak was not even melting because the food was not warm at all. The potatoes were also cold. I sent it back and they threw the steak back on the grill (now over cooking it) and then brought the same plate back to me with the potatoes still cold. Someone at our table ordered a medium rare burger and received a very well done burger. Those that ordered salads enjoyed their meal but the salad was very small for a dinner portion and the piece of salmon on top looked like they cut the normal portion in half and then served it. The place was cute and our server was great but the food was mediocre at best.
We had a wonderful dinner for my Mother's birthday. Jameson was our server that evening and was friendly, fun and very generous with our time between appetizers and dinner. I made a note in the reservation that we were dining for a birthday and when we decided to order a dessert, Jameson stated it was on him! Such a lovely surprise! Food was phenomenal and drinks as well. We have always had a great experience at Bistro Roca and recommend often to friends. It's worth the commute from Banner Elk for us! Thanks for fantastic food and service!
I'd heard about Bistro Roca from several people and thought we needed to try it. We have a vacation home in Blowing Rock and have eaten at many of the restaurants there, but Bistro Roca is kind of hidden away, so we hadn't stumbled on it yet. Wow, are we glad we made a point to go there! It was delicious, and beautiful, and charming, etc., etc., etc. I had one of the mac & cheese dishes and it was wonderful, as well as a salad. Everything looked just great.
We intend to return regularly.
Very cold evening and sat us next to windows on the covered porch area...there were plenty of open tables away from windows. Should only use those tables as last option, fill in middle areas first . It was so cold and drafty, took away from the otherwise superb experience.
Always have been a fan of bistro, not this time. It was a negative experience from beginning to end. We are sad they have been so inconsistent, because the ambience is great. They need to make some changes and quickly . We got there special steak, which is always delicious. When he came to us this time it was 80% fat, and the server basically ignored the fact that we were unhappy
My husband and I ate here to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. The restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We made reservations and when we arrived it was very busy but they had saved us a cozy booth near the fireplace. I loved everything about the restaurant but was very disappointed with my entre choice. I told the waitress I was debating on the Lobster Mac and Cheese or the Crab Carbonara with Pork Belly. The waitress highly recommended the Carbonara so I decided to try it. My husband ordered the steak and loved it. The steak was a good size and was delicious. The Carbonara was not what I was expecting for $28. The portion of the pasta was very small with very little pork belly and too much edamame. It definitely would not have filled up my husband and even left me still hungry. It tasted just ok. It was not delicious like I had hoped. We finished with a yummy dessert of a warm pecan brownie. If we ever try this restaurant again I would definitely order something different.
I always like coming here and like that they pay attention to the notes in the reservation. I always need to request a quieter location because my husband has severe hearing issues. Not every restaurant reads the notes but Roco Bistro always pays attention to it. Both of us ordered flatbread w/salad but different ones. We were both pleased with our choices. Our waiter (listed as Capps H on our receipt) was very attentive, informative and nice.
This review is based on the latter of our 2 consecutive dining experiences. The first was on New Year's Eve for lunch and the service and food was very good. We loved the ambiance so much the first time that we decided to go there again on New Year's Day for lunch. What a disappointment!! The service was absolutely terrible. The hostess was unfriendly and unaccommodating. We were seated on the back porch where it was very chilly. It took over 15 min to order drinks and over 25 min to receive all drinks. Two entree items on the menu were 86'd, as well as 2 children's menu items and the beer my husband ordered. When food finally came out, a black hair accompanied my macerated pickle and it took 10 minutes for ketchup. I could go on and on but I'll stop here. Server was very apologetic but seriously, just close down for New Year's Day!!! Overall, if I could make one point, I felt the staff was very much on the rude side.
So we have a vacation home in the area and come to Blowing Rock often. Bistro Rock has always been on our favorite list and we normally frequent it when in town. Obviously our experience had been favorable until last night. We had a reservation and the restaurant was busy. We were sat at a booth while my husband was out for 10 Minutes looking for a parking space. The booth seat was not close to the table and I literally had to sit on the edge of the seat to reach the table. I asked the hostess if we could be moved to a two top (3 empty two tops were observed). She said no they were already reserved. What?!?? I reserved on open table and have never seen a space to reserve a two top. She was very unwilling to sit us there and while my husband and I sat at the booth, two of those tables remained empty! This unfortunately will be our last visit to bistro roca.
We had a great time! Our group was there for the NYE weekend and the accommodation and service was excellent. We had a big crowd and they were able to sit us close together, as you could tell it was peak season for them. Great food! Ramen Noodle pot was perfect for our cold snowy day :)
