Bistro Niko Ratings and Reviews
Initially we were seated in the "quiet room" for dinner, but a table of 8 high school girls behind us drowned out any hope of conversation. So we asked to be moved, and were seated adjacent to the bar area. There, our very nice waitress was overwhelmed by her various duties, and so couldn't give us much in the way of service or attention. My meal was good, but my wife was not impressed with hers. To top it off, a wild haired, wild-eyed, young patron continuously wandered in and out from the patio, so inebriated that he bumped into even seated guests while he careened around the bar. A manager-type person spoke with him several times, but never showed him the door, as I would have expected. Apparently, he was some young actor in town for a project. He didn't impress us this night, and we are inclined to leave Bistro Nikko to him, if that's what the establishment prefers over regular paying guests.
I used to love this place. Visit often when I am in the city. Last two visits, in the last two weeks, were awful. Service is the problem. Final straw, late night reservation, staff stood around and stared at us as we finished our meal and as we waited for the check. Rude departure experience after a $700 night. If you don’t want people to enjoy a late night experience, don’t offer 10pm reaervations. Never again.
This restaurant was given a glowing review & must visit by my Podiatrist. I was pleased with the review tat I watched on Atlanta EATs. Can’t wait to revisit Bistro Nikos. I had the trout & the smoked salmon flat bread—I was very satisfied. The food server was terrific, patient & very knowledgeable of appetizers, entres and drink.
We were recommended to BN by a friend. We were looking for something fun, energetic, with good food and ambiance. We were not disappointed! We started with the small mussels for an appie, had the recommended Scallops and Skate for our two entrees and finished with the apple tart. So very good! Love the atmosphere and being able to see the chefs preparing the food as you're waiting for your table - very transparent, high quality, and attention to detail. Definitely plan on going back soon!
Bistro Niko was a PHENOMENAL experience!! We made reservations just about an hour before our arrival time. Everything about this place was great - the food, the service, the ambiance. I was very impressed at the value; for French cuisine, the prices are moderate (not pricy at all). I highly recommend the salmon tarte appetizer, and both the Buckhead Bubbles champagne cocktail and Midnight in Paris cocktail. I am shocked they had openings for reservations. This place is super classy! I will definitely return for another visit when I come back to Atlanta!
Bistro Niko is one of our “always good” places. The food is always wonderful as is the service. My favorite is the hanger steak with frites. The flavor is just incredible. The frites are perfectly prepared crisp and with the just right saltiness. We always order the snails as a starter. It’s best to order them immediately so the main meal is not delayed. Overall, a consistently excellent experience.
I'm sure my experience wasn't a common one, but I won't be dining there again nonetheless.
I was waiting for my cousin to arrive, whom I haven't seen in a few years. My server asked if I wanted to order wine, and I told him I'd wait for my cousin since she is in the wine industry and I knew she'd have some insight.
As soon as she arrived, the waiter put on a different kind of show. She's young and pretty and he started to blatantly hit on her. At one point, he came over to ask what the wine industry was like (he wasn't bringing drinks or food, or asking how our everything was, he just wanted to come over to chat. Right. In. The. Middle. Of. Our. Conversation.) He asked for her card (aka her number) and then! He had the audacity to ask how much money she makes! Who does that? I was appalled. I told him that was an inappropriate question, but he didn't seem to get the hint since he lingered for a little bit longer.
As a server - flirtations with my cousin aside - he would do obnoxious things like reach over us to access the opposite side of the table. We were seated at a 4 top in the middle of the room - plenty of space to access the other side of the table if he just walked around us, but he was very aggressively putting himself in our private spaces. We felt violated.
Our entrees arrived and they were completely wrong. I ordered coq au vin and got escargot. She ordered steak frites and got beef bourguignon. She was able to grab the attention of the maitre d, whom she knew through her connections in the wine industry. He quickly fixed the mistake. Our server did not even acknowledge it. No "I'm so sorry, the entrees are on me," or "Allow me to comp your drinks." Our check came and our entrees were still full price.
I expected great things from this restaurant, but my experience was downright appalling. I did not want to make a fuss in front of my cousin since she is in the industry, but mark my words, I'll never step foot in that place ever again.
Food, service, character were all excellent. Bartenders were attentive and skilled (noticing, from a distance, the wine I brought in by name, then taking care of my pre-wine drink and providing wine glasses and opening my bottle)
Please consider noise baffles or some means of reducing the acoustics so that it can maintain a level of energy without being so loud patrons cannot hear servers and cannot have conversations without speaking loudly.
We are out of towners and always look forward to eating at Bistro Niko. We stayed at the InterContinental so that it would be an easy walk.
Waiters are always informative and great! Julian has waited on us for the last two visits. He is awesome!
Great restaurant - keep up the good work!
