Bistro Niko Ratings and Reviews
It’s been awhile since my last visit. I recall the food being much better before. The French onion soup was too sweet, though the cheese was delicious. The French fries were some of the best I’ve ever had, but the ham and cheese sandwich was disappointing, as was the gruyere flatbread.
This is one of our favorite restaurants within the Buckhead Restaurant Group because the prices are reasonable and the food is usually delicious. This time my husband enjoyed his fried oysters as an appetizer but said they had too much breading. He also got the halibut special as his entree, which he said was good, but not great. My Faroe Island salmon was delicious, as the chef prepared it medium rare to perfection. We also enjoyed the Chenin Blanc with our meal and the wonderfully warm sourdough bread.
What a pleasant surprise while traveling to Atlanta! Great menu which was a pretty good value as they had some excellent sides and delicious bread that were included with entrees. Fun cocktail menu. Service was EXTREMELY attentive! Right next to MARTA if you are not staying in the Buckhead area.
All four courses were spot on. Great cold water oyster selections. Not a huge wine list, but some very nice bottles and some exceptional offerings by the glass. Favorites included the Stag's Leap Merlot btg, coq au vin cooked to perfection, and flourless chocolate torte. Our server Aubrey was a relative newcomer to Niko, but because of her attentiveness and fabulous personality, I imagine that in short time, she will be a core member of their team.
I love the food, the service (= Nino is a gem). My big peeve is that it is WAY too noisy. On another visit there about a month ago , it was impossible to converse normally We had to yell at our friends to be heard.. and we were in the salon which is supposed to be quieter!
We would go more often if it were less noisy and so would my friends.
Well decorated and lively environment in prime spot near Lenox Mall. Bartender prepared average Old Fashioned with no creative flair. Waiter was polite but mumbled and was difficult to hear. Ordered Georgia Mountain Trout and it had a whole hell of a lot of oil on it. Oh well. Bread and wine were good.
Our server was very helpful. When I questioned about the White bean soup he offered me a taste of the soup. It was not to my like so he let me substitute the white bean soup with the French Onion Soup which was great. The mountain tout was the best trout I ever had. The mashed potato was so creamy and fluffy we devoured it very quickly. Definitely will return in the future.
I've dined at Bistro Niko several times as with many of the Buckhead Life restaurants and felt underwhelmed by my last experience. The Mussels appetizer was very good but most of the entrées my dining party ordered were C+ at best - especially the coq au vin, one of their specialties, was almost unrecognizable. I'm also not sure how any bar service can mess up a vodka on the rocks, but it tasted like tainted water when I received it. Positives included the wine selection, our server and courteous staff, however, based on this last experience, I would not recommend Bistro Niko for anything more than a place to go before or after you dine somewhere else.
I have been eating at P and P restaurants since my first anniversary dinner at Panos and Paul’s in 1984. Always great food, ambiance and service.
As usual the food and ambiance were great. Service was terrible, all throughout the meal. Menus left on the table after ordering, plates left on the table long after finishing, inattentive waiter and management. Finally left cash when nobody came to take my credit card.
Almost ruined the meal, but not quite.
