We welcome you to our Bistro & our Maison.
The ambiance at the restaurant was outstanding. We requested to be seated on the patio as we brought our dog with us. The weather was wonderful and we had excellent service. We ordered fondue, beet salad, pork chops, and ravioli. All dishes were well prepared and presented appropriately.
We were so impressed that we have made reservations to celebrate family birthdays in October at Bistro Maison! Quite a find in my hometown of McMinnville!
What can ruin a visit to a quaint french restaurant in the Oregon wine Country? Lousy service. We were seated right away, but then promptly forgotten. Took forever to get our food, and no one came by to check on us. All the staff seemed to be "temporary" filling in from other jobs elsewhere. The $25 corkage fee seemed to be a bit much since no one came by to refill our wine glasses. By the time we were done with dinner we were exhausted. There are many other choices in McMinnville to get a fine meal -- to Bistro Maison, we say "no, merci".
We've eaten here a lot. Food, especially the truffle fondue, is always pretty fantastic. Steak Frites always a hit. Usually the owner has somehow been involved with my service and it is always very good. However this was unfortunately the worst service I've ever had, even though it was a relatively quiet night. Between the drink order and taking our food order was over 20 minutes, even though I told the gentleman who ordered our drinks that I knew what we wanted to order since we had been there often. Another waitress came and seemed observably upset, did not smile once and was very curt. Then I am pretty sure they forgot to put our food order in once the fondue was set to the table (which is the usual pattern) because 1) the waiter asked if we wanted dessert when he came to clear our fondue (I mentioned we still had food coming) and then 2) we waited another 25 minutes to receive the food once we were done with our fondue. The steak came and then the waiter brought the fries about 5 minutes later because he said he couldn't find them in the kitchen. If it had been a packed, busy night I would be a bit more understanding but there were many empty tables. I've been here before when the service was just more snap and pop.
Service was simply horrific. We waited 45 minutes for our order to be taken among many other issues. We were getting up to leave when our server finally arrived. We were charged for side salads after our server confirmed they were included and it was indicated as such on the menu. Cassoulet was odd, salmon was fair but the scallops special was good. Bread arrives only after you order and it's nothing more than a cold baguette. Overall, unfriendly, cold , creepy service for fair food.
We booked for Sunday at 6:30pm. We had to wait while they cleared a table on the patio, which we were happy to do. Once seated, we had intended to enjoy a cocktail before our dinner, but we were told that we had to get our order in in the next four minutes or else the chef may decide not to accept our order! Was this strange or what??
So, OK, we quickly ordered an appetizer of mussels, but were told they were out of mussels. Tick Tock, tick tock. All in all, we finally ordered and received our food. The duck would have been delicious, but it was very over salted. It was super tender, but tasted brined throughout. So, not a pleasant experience, and we likely will not go back.
Poor service. Duck was over cooked
Had higher expectations. Thought menu was fine , food out of kitchen was just ok
The Bistro continues to impress with amazing food and attention to detail at every level. We will continue to be patrons for a long time.
we had a great dinner on the outdoor patio. what a lovely place to dine and talk in the summer... and the food was delicious. The wait staff were very professional.. we appreciated getting a taste of the house pinot so we could decide if we wanted to order it (we did!). We recommend this restaurant!
Beautiful courtyard dining witha wonderful ambience. I love spending a special evening here. WOnderful place with exq
Beautiful restaurant both inside and out with classic French food using locally produced ingredients. Owner/Chef and Wife operate the restaurant and the chef is fanatic about making everything from scratch and to perfection. Elegant presentation in a casual and lovely environment, this is the place to go whether for lunch or for a special occasion. Enjoy!
Another perfect evening at Bistro Maison! Great food, great wine and awesome service. A special shout-out to our server Aaron, who is a Texas transplant. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and professional, and he took wonderful care of us.
The food was amazing from appetizers through dessert. Service was impeccable. Everyone was very courteous and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.
Very relaxed setting, Excellent food although they were out of the scallop dish which I was looking forward to. The only slight negative was their wine by the glass selection was limited.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! The owners are just lovely and truly make you feel valued as a guest. The staff is professional and friendly and the food is absolutely first rate. It is worth the drive from Beaverton or Portland!
Food was excellent and generous portions. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive. Only minor complaint is that the music was too loud and we asked twice for it to be turned down and they didn't follow through...made conversation a bit difficult...that is the only complaint we had.
Started with the best Aperol Spritz I’ve ever had. Server helped choose a wine to pair with our food that was outstanding. Later in the evening one of patrons left a third of a bottle of wine. Food was outstanding and the service (including where to visit the next day) was fantastic. Great night.
We had a fantastic dining experience. The food was great and the staff was very informed and attentive.
The food was very good service was great except for our server but could have been a bad day for her .
The young man that we ordered wine from was very helpful.
The lady that delivered the meal was great.
Had a nice spot in the outdoor seating area that was lovely
Would definitely go back
Very nice French food. Salmon was tasty and crab meat salad light. Best part was dessert, a lovely lemon dacquoise. Good place for a small town.
My friends and I have been dining here for special occasions for many years. It is consistently one of my the best fine dining experiences in McMinnville.
The Bistro is our anniversary dinner tradition. It’s just the right balance of gourmet food adventure and intimate ambiance. Sure would be nice if McMinnville Downtown Association would advocate with the city for 3rd street to be permanently closed to through traffic so that outdoor dining could be enjoyed at all the eateries!
This is a special place in wine country! Love this place!
It's great dining on the patio here on a warm summer night. There are certain dished that I look forward to every time. The gravlax is a deliscious appetizer. House cured. Mild, not smoked, tastes like fresh salmon. The mussels are also terrific, shared as a starter or as an entree. Salads also stand out here. Ours was a whole head of butter lettuce and was enough for the four of us. Deserts do not take a back seat. Homemade and delicious. The owner works to satisfy the guests, and it's clear she wants guests to have an enjoyable meal.
Quite expensive for the food, but if you really want a French experience the service is great, atmosphere is okay and the food is hit or miss. We liked the crab cocktail and the duck was okay, but the steak wasn’t good and the Caesar salad was unimpressive.
We came on time for our reservation and waited 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. And that was nothing more than a curt statement that it would be another 15 minutes. After waiting another 15 minutes with no sign of anyone showing any interest in us, we left.
It was excellent as expected. Two shared appetizers followed by the best omelette this side of Paris and a shared dessert. That lunch meant no room for dinner!
We basically enjoyed lunch with good suggestions.
The table for two is a bit too small.
When there are other tables available, they should use bigger table for two.
Fantastic dinner at Bistro Maison. We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the back patio. The food and service were both phenomenal. And we appreciate the somm / staff's help with picking a great bottle to pair. Thanks!
Outstanding in every way. From initial seating to end of visit
Everything we had was delicious and the portions were ample. We had escargot, French onion soup, steak salad (which came with a huge portion of perfectly seasoned & cooked meat) and a special of local goat cheese and a truffle oil & mushroom tapanade with perfectly golden toast points, lightly dressed arugula and the sweetest tomatoes ever. We couldn't finish the whole round of cheese. Yum!
The food was amazing and the portions very generous. We loved everything we had from the fondue as an appetizer to to the coq au vin and salads. They were perfect in their wine recommendations. The whole experience was wonderful.
All I can say is that Bistro Maison is really so much more than a meal it is an experience in fine dining that is not to be rushed but enjoyed. One of my all time favorites
Very charming staff. The food was outstanding! We will be back!
W thought the food was excellent! French style but not overly heavy. Would definitely go back.
We went there while on vacation. My one daughter had studied and worked in France and was blown away with the authenticity of the French food. If you are in Mcminnville or close by you should put this on the top of your list for restaurants. We went for a Sunday Brunch and was full for the rest of the day.
Absolutely fantastic ambience, service and food.
Our taste buds are still tingling! Absolutely phenomenal! The chef pairs foods perfectly. We had a gluten/dairy free(thank you, chef) potato leek soup with a drizzle of pumpkin oil on top. Best! I ate the butter lettuce, avocado and bacon salad—opted out of Parmesan and Caesar dressing—which was delectable. My husband had the oyster special, also fabulous. Our server was incredible and was intuitive to my dairy allergy, without us saying anything to her. Several people had recommended Bistro Maison and we were very impressed!
In the three times we’ve frequented Bistro Maison, we have never once been disappointed.
We need Food and Wine out here to critique and do a write up for “the pickiest of Foodies and Oenophiles!”
We sat out on a charming, yet spacious, cobblestone patio this last time. If one were to get chilly, the owner begins handing out substantial, quality blankets, scarves, and pashminas...
The wine list is incredible and the owner, Deborah, is more qualified than most Sommeliers to assist in pairing the perfect wine or champagne.
Every bite from the goat cheese tapenade, escargot, many varieties of fondue with every choice imaginable to accompany it.
The service is impeccable and servers were extremely excited to detail the next course choice! Desserts, especially, gave them pure joy & giddiness to detail them for you!
Cannot forget one of my most enjoyable things, is the Chef’s creativeness, his zeal for making his 3-5 homemade sorbets, along with homemade ice cream, meringue...it’s almost impossible to pick all the different desserts, appies, and entrees.
Every bite is euphoria. You will be sad to leave, but your stomach will be “filled to the brim and very happy”) with the Art and love that went onto your experience!

McMinnville ( aren’t we lucky!?)
Best place in McMinnville. Great French food, good wines and service is excellent.
